The Original Street Style Photographer, Irving Penn, Hits LA's Getty Center

Today, street style dominates the blogosphere and the foremost fashion websites. We're a culture of voyeurs: If it's being worn by Anna Wintour or a MOD (that's insider-speak for Model Off Duty), or photographed paparazzi-style, then we'll sit, stare, and come back for more. But before The Sartorialist and Bill Cunningham were all the rage, a different kind of street style was of interest: real people, wearing layman's clothing, photographed against a neutral backdrop rather than the hustle and bustle of a big city.

Los Angeles' Getty Center is currently celebrating photography vanguard Irving Penn, who recently passed away after a storied career working for magazines including Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. Irving Penn: Small Trades is an exhibition of Penn's photographs from the early 1950s featuring men and women in their work attire. A milkman with a checked shirt and pants riding high, a steel mill firefighter in full protective regalia, and prim and proper ballroom dancing team are just a few of the highlights from Small Trades.

Chasing The Hills: Spencer and Heidi Dine at Katsuya Brentwood

We just happened to be getting the Early Bird special at Katsuya in Brentwood last night when we saw Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag casually walk in.

Spencer was wearing jeans with some embellishment on the back pockets, a black hooded sweatshirt and some bling. We confess he looked better than we thought he would. (Oh no, did we really just say that?)

As for Heidi, it was like 6 pm, so we wouldn't expect her to be all dolled up. She was in a black sweats outfit--you know, the kind that costs $185--and some funky Ugg-like boots with some tassled balls hanging off. And no, we couldn't see an engagement ring from where we were sitting.

Speidi was also eating with some unidentifiable blonde... Maybe Spencer's sister? All three sat at the sushi bar and chatted with some of Katsuya's waiters. They looked like regulars and the sushi chefs were eager to serve them. Thankfully for the rest of us, no crazy paparazzi folk were waiting to pounce outside.

Kate Hudson & Owen Wilson Share Veggies the Morning After

There's nothing quite like catching someone the morning after...Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson were spotted having a friendly morning breakfast earlier this week at A Votre Sante in Brentwood.

Popular amongst the veggie crowd, A Votre Sante features dishes like a hummus quesadilla, tofu mushroom napoleans, and organic nachos. Wash it down with organic coffee and fresh juices. Food is supposedly served on "huge plates" and super-affordable (the most expensive main dish is $14).

The Brentwood location, one of a handful in LA, is particularly tight and cozy, which makes us wonder if Kate and Owen were really looking to go undercover.
