The Saga of the Crew of Flight 1549 Continues
There are no losers in the story of US Airways Flight 1549, except for maybe AIG, who was the insurer of the plane. We all know of Captain "Sully" Sullenberger's honors and invites, and even his recent traitor turn to flying Virgin America, but on Wednesday at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, the stream of awards flowed on to his co-pilot, Jeffrey Skiles, the LaGuardia air traffic controllers who handled the situation, and the rest of the flight crew.
At the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, Skiles accepted awards for himself and Sully, and for Donna Dent, Doreen Welsh and Sheila Dail--the flight attendants who kept their cool during the ordeal. It was the account of chief LaGuardia air traffic controller Bill McLoughlin, however, which really brought on the waterworks and gave us another angle for marveling at the series of events:

Surprise of the Weekend: Britney Spears Pops Up in Vegas

As if Brit would stop with her boating adventure in Santa Monica. The proud mother of two hit up Vegas this weekend with her new mancandy in tow. You should know by now that she likes to take her men to hotels for a good time. Unfortunately, when Britney does it, it's not only less sexy than Angelina Jolie's hotel sexcapades, it's nearly vomit-inducing.
Still, her boyfriend Isaac Cohen probably found it interesting. He got a free pass into the Playboy suite at the Palms, which is now tied with the hotel's Real World suite as an in-demand novelty stay. A $40,000-a-night novelty stay, that is. Brit is reportedly good friends with Palms owner George Maloof, and likely got a discount if not a free ride for her visit. And it looks like the publicity trick works, because we're writing about it. But only 'cause she's gross.

Britney Spears 2.0 Lands in Vegas at The Palms

Britney Spears is enjoying her newfound freedom and headed to Vegas this weekend, minus the kids, to prove it. Seems she spent the majority of her days away at The Palms, where she was spotted chatting up George Maloof while wearing her ridiculous "disguise" - a hot pink wig and gigantic sunglasses.
Brit also popped into the Palms' private recording studio with producer Lukasz Gottwald to mix tracks on her new album, and raked in a hearty $10,000 at the high-limit blackjack table. (See, ditching K-Fed was good luck!) Later she hit up a club with Mario Lopez, who was playing earlier at her table. Not bad for a day's work. We're just sooooo glad to see her hitting the road without K-Fed that right now we're willing to overlook the Mario Lopez bit and the cheesy extensions we caught her rocking that sadly were not part of the disguise.

Prince Moves Into The Rio Las Vegas

Prince, or the Artist formerly known as Prince, or whoever he is, has reportedly just set up shop in Las Vegas at the Rio for an ongoing performance series a la Celine Dion. Prince will play Friday and Saturday nights at 3121, the club formerly known as Club Rio, beginning November 10. On Thursday nights he'll also do a show featuring "guest performances" by various friends.
We don't know what to think...we love Little Red Corvette as much as the next guy, but $125 for a ticket seems a little ridic. The man is not that young. Apparently he's shacking up in the hotel's Palazzo Suites too while in town. Let's just hope they improve the poolside cabanas for him.
