Flavor is the Focus For Top Chef's Eli Kirshtein at Atlanta's ENO

Spiky-haired, bespectacled Top Chef contestant Eli Kirshtein garnered the ire of Tom Colicchio after serving up what the judge deemed "raw lamb." That's no mark of a master chef, but as we know, even talented artisans are prone to missteps, perhaps owing to the pressure of a major prize and a national audience in the millions.

Off the show, Kirshtein serves as the Executive Chef of Atlanta's ENO Restaurant and Wine Bar. No relation to Brian Eno as far as we can tell, although that would make it infinitely cooler. Like many of his competitors, he's a locavore, sourcing ingredients for ENO's menu from farms and specialty stores around the great state of Georgia.

Ballet Travel: A Big Premiere

Where: 660 Peachtree Street NE [map], Atlanta, GE, United States, 30308
April 10, 2008 at 11:38 AM | by | Comments (0)

Ballet=boring, right? What if the dances were set to Big Boi tracks instead of snoozy classical music? You'll find it at the Atlanta Ballet, starting tonight.

The show's called "Big," and it's a seriously limited engagement. The dancing is all professional ballet, but Big Boi, the hip hop group Konkrete and others will provide the tunes live.

It's a little cheeky, sure, but there's nothing wrong with appealing to a younger audience. As choreographer Lauri Stallings says:

If Mozart was here, I think he'd really dig this.

Eat 'n Sleep in Atlanta :: FAB And Indigo

Where: 30 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. [map], Atlanta, GA, United States, 30308

Our Eat 'n Sleep feature profiles a restaurant in a random city and a hotel nearby. It's kinda like that old show "Dinner and a Movie" but you know, with restaurant and hotels. And better jokes.

Downtown Atlanta's Brasserie Le Coze has reopened as French American Brasserie, or "FAB" as it begs to be called. Chef Kaighn B. Raymond prepares classic French cuisine with an American twist. Take the spiral staircase past the private dining room and up to the canopied rooftop for a smoke and a view of the city skyline.
