Jon and Kate Plus Eight's (Not So) Happy Home

Where: 298 Heffner Rd [map], Wernersville, PA, United States
May 18, 2009 at 2:11 PM | by cmb | 0 Comments

Jon and Kate Gosselin may be having some knock-down, drag-out fights these days, but at least they are having them in a picturesque setting. Last year, the family moved into a 1.1 million dollar estate located at 298 Heffner Rd, Wernersville, PA, about ten miles west of Reading. The house has already been featured on their hit reality show “Jon and Kate Plus Eight”, which chronicles their daily life with twins, Mady and Cara and sextuplets Collin, Leah, Joel, Hannah, Aaden and Alexis.

The couple’s new 7,000 square-foot pad features two garages and an in-ground pool on several acres of land. A recent Earth Day special depicted the family learning how to make their new digs eco-friendly by adding solar panels and solar lights.

Jon and Kate’s marital problems have been documented in the tabloids since Jon was caught out with a 23-year- old “friend” last month. Rumor has it Kate has also been unfaithful, giving her bodyguard some “special” benefits. And now her brother has hit the talk show circuit blabbing about the couple’s marriage, which he calls a “sham.”

The new (and possibly the final) season of “Jon and Kate Plus Eight” debuts on TLC on May 25th.

Where to Find Rihanna's Tattoo Artist, If You Can't Afford to Fly Him Out to You

Where: Av. Heliodoro Salgado, 104, Sintra, Portugal
March 27, 2009 at 1:26 PM | by egw | 0 Comments

Pop star Rihanna has never been shy about showing off her tattoos, including a full-body spread in InStyle where she showed off ink like a scattering of stars and a Sanskrit motto. Now the Barbados native, who has been far from the limelight since being assaulted by boyfriend Chris Brown, can add the gun show with two tiny above-the-armpit tats.

Rihanna commissioned Portuguese artist BangBang to do the art, even flying him out to L.A. to do the work. But you can visit BangBang in his natural habitat of Sintra, Portugal any day of the week, where his flagship tattoo shop has been in operation since 2000. He also handles appointments at East Side Ink in New York (97 Ave. B)

Check out Jaunted's Rihanna Tattoo Map for more great places to get inked like the stars.

The Octo-Mom's New House is a Far Cry From 'The Real O.C.'

Where: 2051 Madonna Ln. [map], La Habra, CA, United States, 90631
March 11, 2009 at 12:46 PM | by egw | 1 Comment

And then it came to pass that the region known as "The O.C." lost its last shred of hipness and glamour. That was the day the mother of fourteen, popularly known as the Octo-Mom, moved to the medium-sized city of La Habra, to a home purchased not by taxpayers but by her own dad to house her ever-expanding brood.

After it was widely publicized that her mother's house, where she was living with her six children, was headed for foreclosure, Nadya Suleman is moving to the city previously best known for being the birthplace of President Richard Nixon's law career.

The Church Where Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen Got Married?

Where: 725 California Ave [map], Santa Monica, CA, United States, 90403
February 27, 2009 at 8:31 AM | by juliana | 0 Comments

To "All the single ladies"...who thought Tom Brady was going to break up with Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, we have some bad news. He did put a ring on it but it wasn't your finger.

Nope. Tom and Gisele, after much speculation and gossip, got married at the St. Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica, Calif. yesterday, Us Weekly reports.

The bride, 28, donned a form-fitting ivory lace strapless gown with a trumpet skirt, scalloped edges, long train and a floor-length veil with attached handmade satin roses and attached satin headband, all by Dolce & Gabbana. Her three dogs also wore matching Dolce & Gabbana floral lace collars.

Why oh why didn't we stay in Macau an extra week? It's this miniscule former Portuguese colony that gets the honor of hosting a weekend full of ridiculous discount shopping in what is being billed as "Asia's First Billion Dollar Brand Sale."

Where is Michael Phelps' Bong?

February 2, 2009 at 8:58 AM | by kjb | 2 Comments

In case you were too involved with your seven-layer dip last night and missed the news, the ubiquitous British tabloids caught Michael Phelps smoking the pot. Apparently he was rocking out at a house party at the University of South Carolina in November, when someone snapped a pic of him using a marijuana smoking device.

Prada's Tetrahedron 'Transformer' Building?

Where: Gyeonghui Palace, Seoul, Korea
January 22, 2009 at 1:10 PM | by JetSetCD | 1 Comment

Remember last year and the press buzz around that traveling capsule of brand vanity created by Zaha Hadid and Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, called "Mobile Art?" Citing weak financials, the structure was grounded and retired after only making it through half of its worldwide stops, but apparently this has only inflamed rival Prada with more desire to carry out a copycat project.

Currently under construction on the ground of the Gyeonghui Palace in central Seoul, South Korea, is what is being called the Prada "Transformer." A tetrahedron-shaped structure designed by the architect behind their revolutionary Manhattan store, Rem Koolhaas, the temporary building will not be traveling like the Chanel orb, but will instead be firmly grounded in Seoul from March through August. Should the 65-foot tall structure prove popular however, there is rumor that it could be carted to a few more cities badly in need of a luxury goods injection.

The Station Where The Crowds Danced For T-Mobile?

January 20, 2009 at 10:16 AM | by egw | 1 Comment

The new British T-Mobile "Life's For Sharing" ad features a crowd that magically breaks into song and dance in the middle of a train station. It's like a cross between Improv Everywhere's "Look Up More", the Filipino prison "Thriller" and [spoiler] the end credits of "Slumdog Millionaire." Not surprisingly, we totally like it.

The spot is the brainchild of ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi, for which 350 dancers were hired. Its immediacy is unique: Shot January 15 with ten hidden cameras, the spot first aired in the U.K. on the 17th two days later.

T-Mobile worked behind the scenes with Network Rail, the company that owns British train infrastructure, and with the Liverpool Street Station in London to get clearance for the flash mob style dance, modeled after spontaneous gatherings like a 2007 silent rave at Victoria Station, in which over 4,000 commuters gathered during rush hour to dance to the music of their iPods for two hours -- a stunt repeated in New York's Union Square in April.

Liverpool Street is an old pro at appearing onscreen; it was the set for two BBC fictional movies about terrorist attacks on London and makes a cameo in the 1996 movie "Mission: Impossible."

Weekday At Bernie's

Where: 133 E. 64th St. [map], New York, NY, United States
January 16, 2009 at 12:00 PM | by egw | 1 Comment

Jaunted assistant editor Ellen Wernecke went to visit America's least favorite financier.

If you heard a soft fwap emanating from New York City on Tuesday, it may have been the sound of thousands of Upper East Siders unsubscribing from the New York Times, which arguably committed a cardinal sin: It published the city address of one of its own.

That that member was Bernie Madoff, fraud superstar, may not matter much to those who find their East Side co-ops swamped with reporters this week. That Madoff's address is not hard to find on the Internet anyway--photos of said reporters show the building number or, at the very most, 10 minutes of Googling should do it--is separate as well. Maybe instead of sending a note on nice cardstock apologizing for the inconvenience, the disgraced financier should be giving his nearest the jewelry he can no longer send out of the country.

I didn't go to Madoff's penthouse to ruin his neighbors' lives, nor did I honestly expect to see the man himself, famously on house arrest after posting a $10 million bail. I can remember precisely once in the past year where I joined a crowd waiting for someone on the street, and that was Usain Bolt leaving "Letterman," only because I happened to be walking past and saw the commotion.

The Restaurant Where Britney and Justin Met Monday Night?

Where: 8535 W. Sunset Blvd. [map], West Hollywood, CA, United States
January 14, 2009 at 8:45 AM | by egw | 1 Comment

This town ain't big enough for the both of them: Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake got way more than they ordered when they both found themselves at Yatai Asian Tapas Bar in West Hollywood for late dinners on Monday.

Timberlake was having dinner with his current sweetheart Jessica Biel around 10 pm when his former flame arrived--with her mom! That's gotta hurt. US Magazine's all-important anonymous witness said Justin and Jessica avoided the Spears party, who stayed about 30 minutes and then left.

Yatai, the Japanese word for street food stands serving ramen, dumplings and assorted fried meats, is to be distinguished from yattai!, an exclamation meaning "All right!" or "We did it!" popularized by this video.

The Atlanta White House?

Where: 3687 Briarcliff Road NE [map], Atlanta, GA, United States, 30345
January 8, 2009 at 10:00 AM | by egw | 1 Comment

How broke is the government? They're selling the White House! Oh wait, that's not the real White House, just a replica in Atlanta whose owner, a McMansion builder, just put it on the market.

Fred Milani, who is profiled in the New York Times today, has been living in his mini-White House for the last seven years but can no longer pay the bills on the 16,500-square-foot home. He's asking $9.88 million for the place, which includes a Presidential gallery as well as decor that reflects Milani's Iranian-American heritage.

Ironically, Georgia has not one White House but two. When FDR was convalescing in nearby Warm Springs, he lived and ultimately died in what is known as the Little White House in Warm Springs. While a much more reasonable size, that house is not for sale--but you can visit the six-room cottage.

Jason Mraz In His New Video?

January 6, 2009 at 9:02 AM | by egw | 2 Comments

Low-key crooner Jason Mraz went all out for his new music video "Lucky," which places him and singer Colbie Caillat on two dream vacations. We've figured out one--now we need your help to crack the other.

Despite claims online that he shot the vid in Luxembourg, Mraz, who recently performed at the Nobel Peace Prize concert, is cruising through the streets of Prague in an old-timey car. Included are several shots of historic Old Town Square, which is given the "Vanilla Sky" treatment and appears to be empty. (It probably never is in real life, right?)

Now it's your turn: Where is Colbie Caillat in this video? She's on a beach that we think looks sort of Everglades-y, but we could be wrong about that. Keep in mind, Mraz's last video "I'm Yours" was shot in Kauai and Oahu, while Caillat recently shot her own video "You" in Seal Beach, California. Leave your best guess in the comments!
