Can Tiger Hold On To His NetJets Sponsorship Deal?

December 14, 2009 at 5:19 PM | by | Comments (0)

The president of the Marketing Department of America says that Tiger's brand is far from finished, but it's still hard to see how the golf champ is going to start rebuilding his public persona. Above and beyond the actual harm done to him and his family, sponsors have become disinclined to have him as a frontman for their products. The latest potential problem for Tiger has a travel-related angle, with private jet portal NetJets reconsidering their relationship with him:

The company arranges business class segments on its suite of private jets for wealthy individuals or corporations who need transportation between 50 and 400 hours a year... Earlier this week NetJets CEO David Sokol issued a statement pledging his support to the golf icon following the initial revelations prompted by the now infamous car accident involving Woods. However as the story has unfolded this week the pressure on the once squeaky clean Woods and in turn his commercial partnerships has mounted.

Tiger Spotting on a Recent Terminal Adventure

December 14, 2009 at 3:57 PM | by | Comments (0)

Last weekend, we found ourselves on an insufferable four-hour layover in the San Francisco International Airport's international terminal which is where Virgin America and JetBlue fly out of.

The problem was, we were booked on a flight out of JFK to Las Vegas except we couldn't make the morning flight and all that was left were flights that routed us through SFO. Yes, essentially we flew over Las Vegas, spent four hours at SFO and then flew back to Vegas. Don't worry, we got plenty boozed up to deal with it all.

On our terminal adventure, we decided to leave the security checkpoint and seek out the XpresSpa in Terminal 1. But after walking about a half-mile through the airport with at least another mile to go, we decided to scrap these plans and just head back to our terminal to drink. Lesson learned: Don't ever leave the terminal. Going back through security is somehow more hellacious than the initial examination.

Anchors Aweigh, Tiger Woods! His Yacht 'Privacy' Is Ready To Go

December 14, 2009 at 9:33 AM | by | Comments (0)

Where in the world is Tiger Woods? Well, he's either still attempting to lay low at his mansion outside of Orlando, or he's en route to North Palm Beach to board his $22 million dollar, 155-foot yacht, ironically named the "Privacy." The Examiner reports that the boat, purchased in 2004 and picked out by Tiger's then fiance, now wife Elin Nordegren, spent the weekend being stocked with supplies and having its name covered up by a tarp thrown over the stern.

Someone doesn't want people to know that he's on the run. And of course Tiger will be hiding out in style. The Privacy sleeps 21 in its many bedrooms with walls of white silk., although Tiger will probably set sail solo. In addition, the boat has an 8-person jacuzzi, a gym, a theater projection system, a gourmet kitchen with espresso maker, BBQ grill, two Vespa scooters, a scuba center, and an elevator.

Travel Around The World With Tiger Woods' Alleged Mistresses

December 3, 2009 at 11:38 AM | by | Comments (0)

Blah blah blah Tiger Woods. What he did or did not do, and what he did or did not hit with his SUV is all that seems to be in the news this week. It's practically unavoidable, and so we will look at the travel angle of the whole rotten thing: the destinations where Tiger Woods maybe knocked some boots with some girls a la Jon Gosselin. Shall we begin?

· Melbourne:
Tiger Woods has been accused of going down under on Rachel Uchitel, a VIP nightclub hostess from New York, who recently accompanied him on a trip Down Under to Melbourne. They spent time together in mid-November in Australia while Woods was playing in the Australian Masters. He won the tournament, and took home the prize of $1,500,000 in addition to his $2,787,000 appearance fee.

The 73rd edition of The Masters Golf Tournament kicks off today in Augusta, Georgia. It’s a big deal as usual, especially since Tiger Woods is back after taking some time off to heal from surgery. Greg Norman, aka “The Shark,” is back to play as well, and is looking to win his first Masters—he’s come really close a couple times. Things should wrap up Sunday, weather permitting, where the winner will get the coveted green jacket and a huge check—last year’s was over $7 million.

Adventures of Link: Everyone's Pregnant!

September 2, 2008 at 5:15 PM | by | Comments (0)

Tiger Woods put golf on hold after he won the US Open early this summer, taking off for knee surgery. But he put all that free time to use: Wife Elin Nordegren and Tiger are expecting a second child sometime this winter.

But rather than sit around in Orlando picking out paint for the nursery, Tiger made some time to travel, too: After a trip to Dubai to check on a super-swanky new course of his own design, he also stopped in to see Conan O'Brien in New York. Maybe he passed the "Late Night" host an invite to The Cliffs at High Carolina?

Golf Travel: Does Dubai Need the New Tiger Woods Course?

August 26, 2008 at 9:33 AM | by | Comments (0)

Maybe it's because we don't play much golf ourselves, but we're just not sure why Dubai needs so many golf courses--especially since it's in the middle of the desert. But Tiger Woods and his design company have just unveiled the whole big plan for The Tiger Woods Dubai which will be a hotel, residential estate and golf course all in one.

For all you golf travel lovers, the new 18 hole course at the Al Ruwaya club will be a 7,800 yard par 72. Along with the clubhouse, there'll be a golf academy and a spa, and it should all be finished by next year.

The complex will be part of Dubailand, the $64 billion dollar extravaganza that won't be finished until 2025. You might have to wait that long to get a membership to Al Ruwaya: They're already billing it as one of the most exclusive in the world. Make friends with Tiger now!

Where Is the US Open?

June 16, 2008 at 4:50 PM | by | Comments (0)

The US Open just wrapped up at Torrey Pines outside San Diego; Tiger Woods won. The schmancy course has been hyping the golf tourney for more than a year, and they put on quite the contest.

Tiger Woods of course played well, but Rocco Mediate wasn't content to let him simply walk off with a win. After an entire 18-hole playoff, the two were still tied. On the first hole of a three-hole sudden death round, Tiger took the win.
