Scranton's Airport Should Just Rename Itself 'Dunder Mifflin Airport'
If you have any business meetings with Michael Scott scheduled this spring, you’ll be pleased to see some of the renovations done to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, which desperately needs a name update itself. Officials have given the green light to open up the wallet to fund a couple rehab projects, and they’re looking to get things ready for a new restaurant. They already have ensured that there’s free WiFi for all throughout the Joseph M. McDade Terminal Building, so the new upgrades are just icing on the cake.
Midtown Sundries—they’ve got locations in North Carolina and Florida—is set to open at the airport this March. Despite their name they sell food and drinks, not stuff like toiletries and cosmetics. The restaurant looks like the typical steak, burger, and sandwich place, and they have big kid beverages, so it will definitely be a good option to drink away any flight delays.

Steve Carell Finds a New 'Office'
Things must be going well at “The Office” for Steve Carell who recently made a large real estate investment. Carell bought the Marshfield Hills General Store in Marshfield Hills, Mass., just south of Boston, where the star owns a summer home. Currently, his sister-in-law Tish Vivaldo (in the picture above) is in charge but during his summer hiatus Carell plans to be behind the register himself.
The store has been a local landmark for 155 years. In that time, it has been a rum and dry goods store, a tea and sandwich shop, a restaurant and during the Civil War it was a supplier of uniforms to the Union Army. The Boston Globe explains Carell bought the property because he wanted to preserve this unique piece of history.
"I also felt that places like the Marshfield Hills General Store represent a gathering place, and give people a sense of community. These spots are growing more and more scarce. I hope to keep this particular one alive and well."
The store still sells penny candy, along with books, beer, wine, and snacks. Carell plans to restore the exterior of the building, including work on the porch and siding. According to Vivaldo, there is talk about eventually adding on a sandwich shop.
Keeping with the family spirit of this new venture, Steve Carell’s brother, Greg, will be the supervising architect on all of the restorations.
Carell bought the business after hearing it was for sale in October. The previous owners had the shop since 2002 after it had been vacant for more than a year.

"The Office" Faithful Flock To Electric City
When the good people of Scranton, Pennsylvania, found out NBC was setting its workplace mockumentary "The Office" there in 2005, they probably thought they were being picked on. After all, one of the pivotal jokes of the BBC's "Office" was that the struggling paper factory was located in such a post-industrial wasteland that no one would notice if a bomb were dropped on it. But two years later, Scranton's raking in the tourism dollars, and this weekend hosted the first annual "Office" convention.
Fans who braved the cold rain had the opportunity to talk to cast members, hang out at casino night at the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs and dress like giant bobbleheads for a look-alike contest. After the jump, some convention videos including Michael Scott's "Lazy Scranton" and a theme song performance by the Scrantones.

Adventures of Link: Hotels Invade The Airwaves

We love our television travel, and it looks like we'll soon have another place to check off our list. On "The Office" tonight Pam and Jim will check into Dwight's bed and breakfast--"the number one beet-related agrotourism destination in Northeastern Pennsylvania."
Our sis site HotelChatter has all the details, and TripAdvisor has all sorts of reviews for Schrute Farms. Of course, none of these reviewers have actually stayed at the place, since it's made up. But why let a little something like that stop you from hyping it?
