A First Look At 'Fly Girls,' Bringing Juicy Flight Attendant Drama To The CW

November 20, 2009 at 8:33 AM | by JetSetCD | 0 Comments

Let the buzz begin over the newest reality show-drama to hit the boob tube: "Fly Girls," a "docu-series" that will follow the day-to-night, sky-to-ground lives of five flight attendants for Virgin America. The teaser commercial just leaked last night on YouTube (we've posted it above), and already we're salivating for the start.

Now we know that Virgin America is bringing the sexy back to air travel, but this is the stuff of pure vice. For those of you familiar with the MTV shows "The Hills" and "The City," "Fly Girls" might feel familiar since the show is from the same executive producer, and we can already see the similarities through this brief spot alone. Still, it won't be all clubbin' and kissin' for the girls, as the CW is saying that the show is to be a "360-degree look at the charismatic jet-setting flight attendants on America’s hippest new airline." Does this mean we'll get to watch them explaining to cranky passengers how to connect to the in-flight WiFi?

The goodies on the show, after the jump.

In the last episode of The Amazing Race, our favorite travelers faced one of the hardest roadblocks in the show's history, the find-the-flag-in-the-gazillion-bales-of-hay challenge. The roadblock made all of the teams struggle—for hours. The hot guys had a bitchfest, yelling back and forth, with Dan screaming orders to his bro Sam. Despite the fighting, the guys managed to finish the task. But Pinky and the Brain had a harder time. They arrived last at the pit stop, but lucky for them, it was a non-elimination challenge.

Four teams remain. Will the hot guys' sibling issues hurt them in the race? Will Pinky and the Brain get their stuff together and avoid coming in last in this next round?

Find out after the jump.

How to Get Tickets To 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'

November 11, 2009 at 12:24 PM | by Heidi Atwal | 0 Comments

Few people saw Ellen DeGeneres' second-coming as an entertainer when her talk show launched in 2003. Now, though, she's adored by many for her signature dance, relaxed interviewing style, and ability to deliver a killer commencement speech, making tickets to Ellen seemingly impossible to come by. The best you can do is try your luck via the booking process, which we're going to walk you through step-by-step. Demand for certain days and times, and your degree of luck, will ultimately determine whether you'll sit in as an audience member.

First, you'll have to consult the online calendar to see if there are open dates in the near future. Already this is problematic. We tried scrolling across dates in December and January and weren't allowed to click on any, which tells us that they're either not open for request yet, or they're full.

When we last saw The Amazing Race, the teams jetted off to the Netherlands, where they had to don traditional garb, including clogs. Hilarity ensued when Dan and Flight Time put on dresses and bonnets. Mrs. America lost her composure when she had trouble in an easy counting challenge and the Americas lagged in every step of the race. But even after incurring a 30-minute penalty, they avoided elimination. That's because after switching back and forth on the physically intensive detour options, the poker pals decided to quit the race.

Five teams are left. Will the hot guys score their second consecutive win? Will Mrs. America's lack of counting abilities make her hubby reluctant to count on her?

How To Score Tickets To Chelsea Lately

Where: 12312 W. Olympic Blvd [map], Los Angeles, CA, United States, 90064
November 3, 2009 at 2:27 PM | by Heidi Atwal | 0 Comments

E!'s Chelsea Handler is a boisterous blonde with a dirty mouth, a cutting sense of humor, and a history of deviant activity on the Oxygen show Girls Behaving Badly. These days, she's known for dishing on topics ranging from sex to ridiculous reality television in her books, standup routines, and her late night television show Chelsea Lately. Conan and Dave aren't the only ones ruling TV after hours, with Chelsea having gained a following for being brash, honest, and one of those non-parelil females that refuses to be prim and proper.

If you're a fan from the Los Angeles area or will be visiting soon, requesting tickets to Chelsea Lately is slightly less annoying than the process we've experienced with other late night shows. The reason is simple: you'll know right away whether you've landed a coveted bunch of passes (up to four in one party) rather than being thrown into a lottery pool where nothing is guaranteed. Obsessive planners should appreciate this.

In the last episode of The Amazing Race, it was a close finish. Mika was too scared to go down a six-story water slide—despite Canaan's attempts to shove her down—and the Globetrotters pulled out the psych-out playbook, got inside her head and slided down to victory. Meanwhile, the poker pals-hot guys alliance was stronger than ever, with the teams helping each other out, and the beautiful blonds scored their second consecutive win. Six teams remain. Will the beautiful blonds continue their winning streak? Which team will get psyched out in this leg of the race?

In last week's episode of The Amazing Race, the teams headed to Dubai to visit the the Burj Dubai, the world's tallest building; the desert; and an indoor ski resort complete with snow. A hot guys-poker pals alliance proved beneficial to both teams, as the gals helped the boys in the desert and the guys stuck with the ladies when their car broke down. Meanwhile, the beautiful blonds fast-forwarded to first place with a speedy task at the Dubai Autodrome, but the others weren't as lucky. The bickerers' lack of speed and direction got them eliminated, which leaves seven teams in the game. Will the beautiful blonds coast to another victory? Will the hot guys continue to trust the prone-to-bluffing poker pals?

Celebs Want You To Participate in Voluntourism With Them This Week

October 21, 2009 at 11:18 AM | by cmb | 0 Comments

If you've watched any network TV this week you may have felt the sudden urge to do good. That's because the networks have teamed up with iParticipate—an industry-wide initiative aimed at urging viewers to participate in volunteerism—to include story lines that spotlight community service. That's also why the photo shoot on last week's Ugly Betty had a Nothing But Net theme and why Kenneth the page is going to try to adopt all of the dogs at a local shelter on Thursday's night's episode of 30 Rock. Not only will your favorite shows have a "do good" theme but the commercials will too. Several A-Listers, like Gwyneth Paltrow and Matthew Mcconaughey, have taped ads for iParticpate reminding us that by helping others, we help ourselves.

But the Entertainment Industry Foundation, who is spearheading the initiative, isn't just spreading the message through TV, they have also scheduled several star-studded events this week to encourage people to get involved in their community. For instance, today, ABC’s Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba will donate her time along with more than 50 volunteers for a day of service at the Three Square Food Bank in Las Vegas beginning at 10:30 AM.

Check Out The Real Hometown of 'The Vampire Diaries'

October 20, 2009 at 12:23 PM | by cmb | 0 Comments

The CW recently jumped on the vampire bandwagon with The Vampire Diaries. The series was destined to be hit as it is executive produced by Dawson's Creek head honcho Kevin Williamson and is based on a series of popular teen novels. It also has all the ingredients of a great teen drama: a girl who is grieving the recent death of her parents and who deals with two brothers who are both into her and have been waging a war against each other for most of their lives, which equals about 150 years since they also happen to be vampires.

The show is set in the small town of Mystic Falls, VA but is filmed in Convington, GA. The pilot was filmed in Vancouver but Georgia's film tax incentives lured the production back to the U.S., which is just as well; there are already enough vampires in Vancouver.

In the last episode of The Amazing Race, beloved sweeties Zev and Justin were riding high when they were the first team to arrive at the pit stop. But then the BFFs hit the lowest of lows when they were disqualified for a missing passport. Their misstep saved the poker pals once again. The case of the missing passport was solved when the sweeties went to the U.S. Embassy, where the document was waiting for them. The guys surmised that when they entered a dark temple, Justin took out a head light and the passport must have fell out with it. Will any of the other teams slip up this leg of the race? Will the poker pals' luck finally run out?

12 British TV Stars Go Around The World In 80 Days For BBC

October 14, 2009 at 12:23 PM | by egw | 0 Comments

How many celebrities does it take to go around the world in 80 days? Twelve modern ones, or one Python—that's the equation the BBC has come up with for a new reality show that splits Jules Verne's classic journey up among pairs of stars for a good cause. It's "The Amazing Race" meets "The Superstars," if VH-1 were casting it.

Back in 1989, Michael Palin decided to reenact the journey taken by Phileas Fogg in Around The World in 80 Days for a BBC special, arriving back in London via Venice, Jeddah, Pune and Long Beach after 79 days and 7 hours. (The movie is currently streaming on Netflix, should you need a little travel inspiration.)

Pams And Jims Have Been Coming To Niagara Falls For Years

October 12, 2009 at 1:09 PM | by egw | 0 Comments

Last week's episode of "The Office" featured two timeless romances: the marriage of Jim Halpert and Pam Beesly (played by John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer), and the long infatuation between tourists and Niagara Falls. Pam mentioned in an earlier episode that she and Jim picked the border city because of its distance from Scranton -- which didn't deter their coworker from attending as she'd hoped—but the city's history as a tourist destination dates back to the 18th century.

Visits to the geological wonder picked up after the Civil War when railroad officials capitalized on it as a destination. Back in the day, couples didn't come to (spoiler!) get married on the Maid of the Mist boat ride; they enjoyed it on their honeymoon. While still several days' journey from many East Coast cities, the falls allowed newlyweds -- from the upper classes first, but later middle and working-class spouses too—to get away and enjoy each other's company, sort of like a latter day Hawaii. Its attractions changed with the times: After World War I, motels sprung up so couples could take their cars on vacation with them.
