Eli Manning's Glorious Offseason
Yeah, it's old news: The Super Bowl is over, the Giants won, you're bored already. You know who's not ready to stop celebrating? Quarterback Eli Manning seen here with his fiancee and college sweetheart at New York's Tenjune nightclub. Eli will stop partying when he's ready to stop partying!
You can't blame a guy for wanting to enjoy himself after robbing a rival NFL team of the coveted perfect season. But when are we going to spot him at Disneyland? (The Super Bowl MVP already missed one event at the park thanks to a ticker tape parade held in New York in his team's honor, only to face a delayed flight when he did have a ticket to California.)
What's next for Eli? Maybe he'll join teammate Amani Toomer in some Caribbean travel. The veteran receiver recently jetted down to the islands to check on his investment in the new Ritz-Carlton sprouting on West Caicos.

Ticker Tape Travel: The Giants Parade Through Manhattan

The New York Giants celebrated their Super Bowl upset today with a ticker tape parade through lower Manhattan. Office workers were hanging out their windows while rabid fans lined Broadway to cheer on game MVP Eli Manning, David Tyree, Justin Tuck and the rest of the team.
While today's was the first ticker tape parade in the city since 2000, they used to be an almost-every-day occurrence. To take a walk through history, you can hike down the Canyon of Heroes, between City Hall and the Bowling Green. Set into the sidewalk are black granite strips with the dates of parades and the people they've honored.
Among the famous folks who've had multiple parades are Charles de Gaulle, Dwight Eisenhower, John Glenn and Amelia Earhart. Adventurer Richard Byrd managed to earn three events with his exploits at the North and South poles. For a full guide to all the history in the area, hit up the Downtown Alliance, which publishes a guide to the Canyon of Heroes.

Post-Super Bowl Travel: LC Doesn't Take Sides

Lauren Conrad was in Glendale, Arizona last night to watch the New York Giants upset the New England Patriots. Being a west coast girl, she went the safe route and just wore this Super Bowl hat rather than picking a side.
LC flew home to LAX after the game, and she'll probably be back at the airport sooner rather than later. She and "Hills" co-star Whitney Port plan to work the tents for New York Fashion Week.
While we normally like our football fans die-hard, we think Lauren looks pretty sharp in this airport photo shoot. She's definitely rocking a comfortable outfit, but she's stepped it up from the terry cloth track suit standard.

Super Bowl XLII Travel: The Least You Need To Know
Time was Jessica Simpson was married to man who cared about football. Without the bonds of marital love, she must feel relieved that she doesn't have to keep up with the NFL any more. Well, relieved enough that when a reporter asked her who she was rooting for in this weekend's Super Bowl she said, "Go Cowboys!" (The Cowboys already lost in the playoffs.)
This weekend, don't be a Jessica. The undefeated New England Patriots are playing the New York Giants in Glendale, Arizona for this, the 42nd Super Bowl. If pressed for details, either draw a quick metaphor to the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry, or (in case you want to look like you read the New York Times) mention how Pats quarterback Tom Brady is dating a supermodel while Giants QB Eli Manning is engaged to his college sweetheart. If you really know nothing about football, loudly criticize the halftime band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Don't forget your coozy!

Super Bowl Travel: Sing A Touchdown Song
Desperate to counter-program your Super Bowl XLII visit with some singing and dancing? Playing at two venues near Phoenix--Grimaldi's Pizzeria in Scottsdale and Arizona Broadway Theatre in Peoria--"Football: The Musical," combines two worlds you never thought would meet.
Creator Alexx Stuart, who has also written musicals about softball and a golf course called the Kilimanjaro Country Club, envisioned a team called the Arizona Wallabys whose owner has a suspicious boating accident right before the team heads to the Super Duper Bowl. All the songs are classic pop or rock songs with new lyrics, so you can almost sing along. For instance, if you know every football player named in the "We Didn't Start the Fire" parody, you should be all set.
We weren't able to get to Scottsdale for the show, but TheaterMaven.com described it as "raw, down to earth tomfoolery." We can totally get into that. Tickets are still available, and there are two performances before Super Bowl Sunday.

Super Bowl Travel: JetBlue's Buying The First Round

Upset that you're gonna miss the Super Bowl 'cause you're flying on February 3? If you booked those tickets on JetBlue, you've got nothing to worry about. When the game kicks off at 6:18 Eastern, the carrier's seat-back TV will have it live.
To sweeten the deal, JetBlue's buying a drink for everyone on game time flights to help set the festive mood. We're not sure we'd want rabid football fans spilling their free beers on us, but it would be nice to swap game notes (or instantly criticize commercials!) with fellow passengers.
And there should be more people to chat with, as JetBlue is adding capacity between Boston and Phoenix as well as Phoenix and New York. So if you don't get to catch the game mid-flight, you can always chat up fans about how badly Eli Manning fell to pieces when the Giants needed him most.

Adventures of Link: Super Bowl Monday

Now that we know it'll be the Patriots against the Giants in the Super Bowl, it's time to shore up those plans for a trip to Phoenix. The city's hosting Super Bowl XLII, but wants you to know that there's lots more to see than big, sweaty men smashing each other.
Besides Taliesin West, you could also check out the local spa scene or art galleries. (The Scottsdale Super ArtWalk happens on February 2.) And if you're into music, Diddy, Snoop Dogg and Dave Navarro will all be in town in early February. Even Tommy Lee and Kid Rock are flying in. Our Kid Rock Fight Venues map is at the ready!

Rumored Travel: Will Paula Abdul Sing at the Super Bowl?
The Super Bowl viewership numbers get higher and higher, but the performers they pick for halftime just get older and older. Apparently still freaked by the 2004 Janet Jackson Rhymes-With-Ripple Incident, the organizers of Super Bowl XLII, held in Arizona, might be ceding the stage to a crowd past their prime--the lovable crew from "American Idol," with Paula Abdul set to make her singing comeback. Yes, Paula "Opposites Attract" Freaking Abdul.
Even though "Idol" is the one mid-season television replacement sure to be a hit, do we want to see these jokers perform? They could just rewrite some Soulja Boy Tell 'Em lyrics and get those kids from "High School Musical" to do the dance. All the young'uns these days love that dance. Also, according to USA Today, Paula's new single is called "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow." Come on, the Bowl's less than a month away!
