The National Drink Of Costa Rica Redefines 'Sweet & Sour'
After Labor Day, summer will officially be over, and with it our list of Signature Summer Cocktails. It's been a good run, and to top off the glass so to speak, we'll finish with our tenth cocktail: Costa Rica's national drink the Cacique Guaro Sour.
Like the Pisco Sour in Peru, Cacique Guaro is to be found everything in Costa Rica. Heck, we saw (and drank) plenty of it on our recent Costa Rican Field Trip. It's an alcohol made from sugarcane, so expect the taste to be sweet but eye-widenly strong. In fact, it's an aguardiente, or "firewater" liquor between between 30 and 60% alcohol content.

A New York Foodie Haven Improves The 'Arnold Palmer'
We think it's close enough to Labor Day now that squeezing in a few more summer cocktails is totally the way to go. Therefore. forget the typical lemonade-and-sweet-tea Arnold Palmer in favor of it's liquored-up and equally refreshing cousin, the John Daly.
Like the actual man Arnold Palmer, John Daly was a golfer who enjoyed cool drinks on the green, the only difference being his preference to have his spiked.

Say 'Aloha' To A Lilikoi Margarita In Hawaii
If you could have your way in Hawaii, what would you do? Probably lay on the beach getting lei'd and drinking fruity cocktails with umbrellas perched in them? Well that's all fine and dandy, but getting up off your butt and heading out for some culture in the town of Volcano Village will reward you with one of the island's best drinks: The Lilikoi Margarita.
Essentially a passionfruit margarita, since that's what "lilikoi" means in Hawaiian, the drink does make some scrumptious switcharoos to adapt to the tastes of the island. For instance, instead of a tequila margarita, this baby uses vodka, but if you prefer the tequila they can do that too. Even the rim gets the tropical treatment; instead of salt or sugar, you will instead taste the tart purple magic that is "li hing mui," or salty dried plum.

The Secret To Summer Beer Bliss Sits In Munich
To avid beer drinkers and expats, this super summer beverage might be pretty familiar; it's the Radler, a mix of light beer and lemonade which also goes by the names of panache in France and clara in Spain. Since lemonade never fails to refresh, the Radler is a way of both adapting beer for summer bingeing and offering a refreshing beverage.
Since Oktoberfest in Munich actually takes place in September and the city is usually still experiencing summer temperatures, tucking into a Radler is a way to continue drinking into dusk without suffering heatstroke and passing out from a combo of booze and sunlight. In town and away from the Oktoberfest tents however sits Donisl Restaurant, a bastion of Bavarian cuisine for over 200 years, which happily serves up fizzy steins of Radler to those looking for a meal with their beer.

A Little Liquor In Your Espresso Is The Italian Way In Ischia
Last we left off with our Summer SIgnature Cocktails Map, we were divulging our secret Venice watering hole. Well, from the north of Italy to the sunny southern coasts, this time we travel in search of good drink on the island of Ischia, a far better alternative to visiting tourist-infested Capri.
Here is a huge tip for summer Italy travel: if you're in the cities and noticing that many business are completely closed and tourist sites have more restricted hours than normal, it's because most of the month of August and some of early September is the Ferragosto, a nearly month-long vacation which causes Italians to skip town for their islands and beaches. And if it's Ferragosto, then they're indulging in the usual morning coffee, but with a special little addition of a shot of the strong liquor Grappa.

Where To Drink Jaunted's Favorite Spritz Cocktail In Venice
While the summer is at its peak and you're no doubt tired of chugging bottled water under the sun at tourist sites, we're going to hit some of the world's best watering holes and down their famous summer cocktails. Bottoms up!
As dusk hits the lagoon of La Serenissima, tourists retire to their hotels for naps or plain cooling down from hot days under the Adriatic sun, spent museum-hopping and souvenir shopping. This is the cocktail hour in Venice, when it feels as though the locals emerge after lying in wait for the tourists to tire. To celebrate the beginning of another evening of socializing and good food, the cocktail hour usually focuses around Venice's signature local drink: the Spritz.
Based on either Campari or Aperolwith Campari the typically male version and Aperol (order "Spritz al Aperol") for womena Spritz is a happy little red-ochre potion which can be found year-round in Venetian bars. Nonetheless, summer turns us away from our usual Prosecco and towards the fresher comforts of a Spritz at the Ciak 1 bar in the San Polo district.

Double The Pisco Sour In Peru, Double The Fun
While the summer is at its peak and you're no doubt tired of chugging bottled water under the sun at tourist sites, we're going to hit some of the world's best watering holes and down their famous summer cocktails. Bottoms up!
For many, a trip down to Peru means some serious Macchu Picchu trekking, but we're frankly more interested in chasing down the best of the country's official drink: The Pisco Sour. Although Chile also lays claim to this tart concoction, the master of the double-sized, or Catedral, Pisco Sour is definitely in the center of Lima at the Hotel Bolivar.
A member of the classic grand dame hotels of the world, the Bolivar was a home-away-from-home for dignitaries and Hollywood stars like Ava Gardner, who was known to favor the Catedral Pisco Sours of the bar. We'll also freely admit to salivating at the mere mention of any "sour" cocktails, so Lima it is. No need to stay the night at the Gran Hotel Bolivar however, as only the bar and the building's architecture remember the golden days; the rooms leave something to be desired.

The Very British 'Pimm's Cup' Gets Adapted For Summer In NYC
While the summer is at its peak and you're no doubt tired of chugging bottled water under the sun at tourist sites, we're going to hit some of the world's best watering holes and down their famous summer cocktails. Bottoms up!
Whoever says you have to be at Wimbledon or at some stuffy polo match in order to enjoy a nice Pimm's Cup obviously hasn't swung by any of Gordan Ramsay's restaurants. For those of you who head to the city in the summer instead of the beach, Ramsay's London Bar on West 54th Street in New York City puts a twist to the classic to make it even more fresh, more thirst-quenching.
It's called the Pimm & Proper, and although it's $16 at The London Bar, it's hard to find a good variation on a regular Pimm's Cup outside of England, so drink up. As a typical summer cocktail, the Pimm's is ubiquitous across the Atlantic, but Ramsay knows just what to do get us salivating; make it fruitier:
· Pour 2 oz of Pimm's No. 1 into a tall glass
· Add 1 oz Grey Goose L'Orange
· Add 1 oz Lillet Route (a French aperitif wine)
· Fill glass with 3-4oz of seltzer or ginger beer
· Top with a dash of cranberry juice and a sprig of fresh mint

Raise A Champagne Cocktail Toast At Cannes' Le Festival
While the summer is at its peak and you're no doubt tired of chugging bottled water under the sun at tourist sites, we're going to hit some of the world's best watering holes and down their famous summer cocktails. Bottoms up!
Tyically, when you tell someone that you are headed to "Le Festival" in Cannes on the French Riviera, they assume you mean the International Film Fest that takes place every May. But Cannes sparkles all throughout the summer, not just in May, and you may head to a different "Le Festival," a restaurant and bar, to toast your good fortune at being in paradise.
Occupying an enviable position right on Le Croisette, Cannes' stretch of beach, the bar Le Festival serves up fresh grilled fish and of course a slew of desserts doused in liqueur. But darling, you'd do well to remember that you're on the French Riviera and so you simply must ask to be seated out on the expansive patio with glasses of the restaurant's signature Festival Champagne.

Belly Up For A Root Beer Barrel Shot At Key West's Green Parrot Bar
While the summer is at its peak and you're no doubt tired of chugging bottled water under the sun at tourist sites, we're going to hit some of the world's best watering holes and down their famous summer cocktails. Bottoms up!
When one thinks of an evening spent in Key West, sipping some of the more alcoholic local flavors, drinks like Key Lime Martinis or the Key West Cooler come to mind, but at local favorite Green Parrot Bar, the regulars tipple something decidedly more down-home.
For one of the cheap, but tasty Root Beer Barrel Shots at the Green Parrot, you must first bypass all of the tourist-trap bars along Duval Street. The Green Parrot isn't faronly a couple block away on Whitehead Streetbut it's divey, Florida Keys laid-back ambience is a world away. Sure you can get key lime drinks here as well, but if you've been scarfing key lime pie all day anyways, we'd recommend the Root Beer Barrel.
