LA's Best Clubs For Stand-Up Comedy

Judd Apatow’s latest film, Funny People, opens today with a pretty sure bet at dominating the weekend box office (did you read ‘Judd Apatow’s latest film’?) Unfortunately, the tale of two LA-based comedians played by Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen is getting mostly less-than-stellar reviews. But whether or not the movie and its parade of comic cameos (Sarah Silverman, Eminem, James Taylor) delivers the laughs, we’ve got stand-up on our minds and figured we’d take a look at LA’s best bets for live comedy.

'Observe and Report' Filmed at Albuquerque's Winrock Mall
Who knew mall cop comedies would become all the rage? The latest, "Observe and Report", starring Seth Rogen as a bi-polar mall security guard who is called into action when a flasher takes advantage of mall patrons, opens today. "Observe and Report" was filmed at the Winrock Mall in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Here’s how to get up close and personal to it.
Where to Stay:
Winrock Mall is in uptown Albuquerque, NM, along with a variety of chain restaurants, box stores, movie theaters, and hotels, one of which is a Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown. The Sheraton was recently renovated and is receiving rave reviews on Trip Advisor. Juanless07 called staying at the Sheraton, “an awesome experience” and at_the_track called it “a nice hotel in a great location.” Along with the new renovations, the hotel now offers an on-site Starbucks, Wi-Fi in every rooms, and in-room Jacuzzis. Right now, rooms start as low as $99 a night.

Seth Rogen and Anna Faris Talk Mall Cops at the Aero Theater

One of the obvious perks of visiting Los Angeles, aside from breathing the same smoggy air as your fave celebrities, is taking advantage of Hollywood industry events like sneak previews of films. We're not talking red carpet movie premieres. We're talking about movie screenings for real movie buffs, not reporters from Us Weekly.
The Aero Theater on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica is a small, one-screen theater that's a far cry from the glitzy, high-tech ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood but yet every week you will find big name directors and actors attending screenings of both new and old movies.
Best of all, these events are usually so low-pro that you can almost always score tickets. Unless someone like Seth Rogen is involved. We bought our tickets nearly two weeks ago to this special Q and A session with the funnyman, as well as Anna Faris and writer/director Jody Hill about their upcoming movie, Observe and Report. (It opens Friday.) But soon after that, the show was sold-out.
