January 5, 2011 at 10:39 AM | by | Comments (0)

Although it's already been news that many Britons are looking forward to the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29 not for the historical or romantic aspects, but for the long weekend it's created and the opportunity for vacation, there's still a pretty great chance that everyone will sit down in front of a TV to watch the spectacle.

For those planning to really get in the spirit and travel to London, there will luckily be opportunities to spy the couple on their wedding day without having to beg, borrow and steal for a ticket to the Westminster Abbey ceremony—Kate and Wills will take a carriage ride past many of London's biggest tourist attractions on their way from their wedding to the post-nuptials reception at Buckingham Palace, hosted by Wills' father Prince Charles.

The AP has the details on the projected path:

The Hottest Walking Tour in London Right Now is All About the Royal Wedding

January 3, 2011 at 1:46 PM | by | Comments (0)

Who's ready for April 29? Yes, that's the announced wedding date of Britain's Prince William and his fiance, Kate Middleton, and although many Britons are using the 4-day long weekend to get out of the country for a mini-break, one entrepreneur is gearing up for the tourism onslaught by creating the Kate and Wills Tour, a walking route that points out some of the London locations important to the couple, like the jeweler (Garrard's) where the engagement ring was originally purchased for Diana by Prince Charles.

The Daily Mail was the first to experience the tour, conceived by James Bonney of Celebrity Planet, who's goal is to "take the star map/star tour idea from Los Angeles, do a straight steal, relocate to London." And he's done it, starting up the Harry Potter, The Beatles, Notting Hill, 007, Princess Diana and Jack the Ripper tours in addition to the romantic Kate & Wills Tour.

Westminster Abbey May Cost $25 to Visit, But a Royal Wedding is Priceless

November 23, 2010 at 11:50 AM | by | Comments (0)

Not only is the Prince William and Kate Middleton engagement for real, but they've already booked their church date, officially claiming the first few months of 2011 for royal wedding fever. The wedding will happen on April 29, and it will be inside the hallowed halls of Westminster Abbey, where Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen Mother were married, but not Prince Charles and Lady Diana, who went for St. Paul's Cathedral.

The da—a Friday—will be a national holiday in Britain, and the royal family have been so good as to make it a four-day weekend for Britons as the following Monday is also already a holiday. That means mini-trips! Or just a long weekend inside watching TV cover the wedding preparations and ceremony.

The best way to start a day is with news of a royal engagement! This morning (or evening, in Britain), it was formally announced that England's Prince William has proposed to long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton, who accepted. The pair have been dating for eight years ever since meeting at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. They are due to be married in the spring or summer of 2011, with a wedding no doubt conducted at Saint Paul's Cathedral in London [or Westminster Abbey or Windsor Castle].

With all the excitement over the engagement, you can bet that both St. Andrew's in Scotland and Saint Paul's in London will become even bigger tourist hotspots than they usually are, but there's one area no one's thought of yet: the place where Prince William actually popped the question to Kate.
