Visit the NJ Comic Book Store Being Filmed for Kevin Smith's New Reality Show

February 8, 2012 at 9:45 AM | by | Comments (0)

At a press event held in New York City yesterday Kevin Smith, and a few of his friends, talked about their latest project: a reality show set in Kevin's comic book store, Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash.

Smith explained that the series, simply titled Comic Book Men, is like "Pawn Stars in a comic book store" as the staff—store manager Walt, Mike, Ming who is described as the store's "whipping boy", and Bryan who doesn't work in the store but always seems to be there—buy and sell rare comic collectibles. Smith also plays a role in the show by joining them in a podcast which is woven throughout each episode.

Rent the 'Jersey Shore' House for $2,500, Since the Cast Isn't Coming Back

October 25, 2011 at 10:05 AM | by | Comments (0)

You won't find it on AirBnb, but you will stumble upon it on the same block it's been on since before the MTV Jersey Shore came in and GTL-ed all over its six bedrooms and roofdeck. Naturally we're talking about the Jersey Shore house—the very one featured in Seasons 1 and 3 of the popular reality show. It's up for rent to regular folks for a whopping $2,500 a day, according to the AP.

Checking out the official listing on Seaside Realty, we can see that the place comes complete with six bedrooms, three bathrooms, three parking spaces and the option of catering or getting a rental DJ. We're going to go ahead and assume that the place is booked up for New Year's already, but now would be the time to begin scooping up summer 2012 dates.

Alas, the cast of the Jersey Shore will not return to film a fifth season at the house, as two spin-off shows are already in the works. The first will follow the further adventures of Snooki and J-Woww as they become roommates, while the second trails DJ Pauly D around the world, making various music and celebrity appearances. Filming on both will commence this late autumn, with the series to hit the air in 2012.

Thanks to MTV, 'Jersey Shore' Escapes the Real Jersey Shore by Private Jet

August 29, 2011 at 12:22 PM | by | Comment (1)

While the rest of us were scrambling for days trying to rearrange delayed flights out of New York and New Jersey, The Jersey Shore cast got a free ride out of the Teterboro Airport in New Jersey on Saturday, courtesy of MTV.

The network wanted the cast in Los Angeles for Sunday night's VMAs so badly that they chartered a private jet as area airports were canceling commercial flights thanks to Hurricane Irene. "We had to get out here for the VMAs," Vinny said after arriving in L.A. "MTV did whatever they could to get us out here. We wouldn't miss it for the world."

Over 100 Hot Air Balloons Take to New Jersey's Skies Really Soon

July 21, 2011 at 9:15 AM | by | Comments (0)

When you think of hot air balloons you might think of the big shindig over in Albuquerque, but for those in the Northeast there’s a pretty good festival coming up that might just require a little road trip rather than a flight. The QuickChek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning takes place in just a couple of weeks, as it’s set to run between July 29 and July 31 at the Solberg Airport in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey.

They’ve got like at least 100 different balloons of all different shapes and sizes—including a butterfly, a shark, and the biggest can of Pepsi you’ve ever seen—that will hit the skies altogether twice per day. Besides the balloons there’s a 5K, a lady who shoots herself from a cannon, and 200 different vendors selling crafts and other goodies.

Watch 20-Plus Inches of Snow Fall in 38 Seconds

December 2010 Blizzard Timelapse from Michael Black on Vimeo.

Are you stranded at an airport? Calm down. Take a deep breath. And then watch the video above to be reminded why it is that your flight is unable to get to or from the East Cost. The above timelapse shot was taken on the north shore of New Jersey, from the first snowflakes all the way to the calm that comes after the sky has dumped itself upon the ground.

This video—simple as it is—is quickly going viral, as the world is enthralled with the idea of Mother Nature throwing all her weight into giving New York City a good and true blizzard. Enjoy, and remember you'll eventually get where you want to go, just that it'll take a little longer than normal on account of the force of nature sampled above.

Inside the Continental VIP Lounge at New Jersey's Short Hills Mall

December 7, 2010 at 5:05 PM | by | Comments (0)

That looks like a pilot at the desk but really it's just a security guard.

The other week we were scooping up some post-Thanksgiving deals at the Short Hills Mall in New Jersey when we noticed a brand-new Continental Lounge on the bottom level near the Bloomingdale's entrance.

We quickly deduced that this was a special VIP hangout for Continental Chase Card members and fortunately for us, our shopping partner is a Continental Chase Card member (we swear on The Situation's abs!) So in we went.

Officially billed as the Continental VIP Lounge by Chase, the Short Hills location is the only one they are offering. Here are some of the perks of the lounge:

· Free gift-wrapping
· Free snacks like chips, cookies, brownies, sodas, coffee, hot tea and bottled water
· Use of massage chairs
· Plenty of seating area with flat-screen TVs
· A mobile charging station where you can charge a variety of cellphones
· FREE WIFI

Fourth Season of 'Jersey Shore' in the Works, But Isn't Everyone Over It Already?

December 1, 2010 at 9:13 AM | by | Comments (0)

We don't know about you, but although we dutifully watch every episode of the first season of Jersey Shore on MTV, we couldn't barely get into the second season, the one that removed the "Jersey" from the Jersey Shore and transported the gang down to Miami. It was just...horrible; yes, more horrible than even the premiere season. At least then that was the idea of it. Well, with the third season (back on the Jersey Shore) gearing up to debut on January 6, MTV is apparently to keep milking that cash cow, as it's been hinted that a fourth season is in the works.

In addition to the fact that the cast are yet again renegotiating their contracts—because $30,000 per episode still isn't enough—the Daily Mail drops this juicy note: "The whole cast are expected to return to Seaside Heights, New Jersey in the New Year to begin filming for Season four."

Jersey Shore Tourists Get a Bad New Nickname: 'FOOTs'

September 14, 2010 at 9:34 AM | by | Comments (0)

Have you been watching this second, Miami-based season of MTV's hit reality show Jersey Shore? Yea, us neither; the group just doesn't work as well when removed from their Seaside Heights, NJ element. Luckily, they've returned back there to film the third season, which should air this winter.

The show originally began building popularity during its first season thanks in part to all of the controversy it stirred up. The State of New Jersey was angry, Italian-Americans were angry, other "Guidos" were angry...the ire just didn't end and thus, "Jersey Shore" didn't either. Now the negativity has spread to include Jersey Shore locals, who are lashing out against the fresh hordes of Snooki-inspired tourists with new nicknames and even bumper stickers.

Will HBO's 'Boardwalk Empire' Have Tourists Flocking to Atlantic City?

August 30, 2010 at 1:41 PM | by | Comments (0)

September 19. That's the date which could turn the New Jersey town of Atlantic City into a star, and bring back the bling-happy, moneyed tourists chased out by Snooki and her Jersey Shore crew.

On that date, the HBO show Boardwalk Empire debuts, and it's already got a recipe for big-time success. First off, it's directed by Martin Scorsese, and it's based on a book about the Prohibition-era corruption of the gambling town adapted by the screenwriter behind The Sopranos. Throw in $50 million dollars spent on just the pilot episode to make it the most expensive single show ever done by HBO, and you've got a lot of hype that needs to deliver.

Six Flags Great Adventure is Working to Welcome a New Coaster in 2011

August 10, 2010 at 9:28 AM | by | Comments (0)

If you’re making a summer pit stop at Six Flags Great Adventure in beautiful New Jersey, you might notice a little bit of construction noise. The park is in the process of ripping out the Great American Scream Machine during the middle of the summer season, but that’s only because they have big plans for what will take its place.

There’s a new coaster set to debut at some point during the 2011 season, and images released to the Jackson, New Jersey town planning board reveals what it looks like from above. It’s going to be bigger than the coaster that it’s replacing, and the park will be getting rid of some parking spots to make room for certain aspects of the new ride. The town seems fine with the coaster; so don’t expect local politics to interfere with theme park fun.

'Jersey Shore' Returns Home to Seaside Heights for Season Three

July 28, 2010 at 12:36 PM | by | Comments (0)

Last week we asked where the guidos and guidettes of Jersey Shore should plant their overtanned selves for season three of the MTV show. Looks like the crew is returning to its roots, since the fist-pumpers have been spotted filming on the Jersey Shore.

Not only is the cast spending the summer GTL-ing in Seaside Heights, but a new guidette has joined the group. According to Radar, the new roomie is named Deena Nicole Cortese, and her BFF Snooki reportedly helped her get cast.
