Have a Layover? Have a New Pair of Shoes Made at Virgin Atlantic's London Clubhouse
Have you ever been inside the Virgin Atlantic Upper Class Clubhouse at London-Heathrow? It. is. insane. We mean insane in the best way, of course. There's a hot tub, a pool table, old school Atari game tables, a free Bumble & Bumble salon, an outdoor deck, a sea of Eames lounge chairs and waiters who will bring you a proper teatime setup.
As you can imagine the services available are numerous during your couple hour stay in the Clubhouse, but Virgin Atlantic has gone ahead and added one more: bespoke shoes. For one month only, from March 18 to April 18, there will be a representative from Finnish cobblers The Left Shoe Company on hand to custom fit Upper Class passengers. The idea is traditional, but the process is quite futuristic:

Inside Lufthansa's Super Swish First Class Terminal at Frankfurt Airport
Steven Frischlingairline geek, professional photographer and travel security blogger of Flying With Fishjust returned from Lufthansa's first A380 flight between Frankfurt and New York. While camped out at FRA, he did some special snooping for us...behind the velvet ropes of the First Class Terminal:
For the vast majority of travelers, the single most stressful portion of air travel is the experience of the airport. Airport terminals are crowded, noisy places, where security lines may move at a snail's pace and security screeners may be less than polite, not to mention that it's rare to find a comfortable seat and the food options are dismal.
For the privileged, however, Lufthansa has a solution to all of these common traveler complaints, and more; it's the First Class Terminal on the grounds of Frankfurt International Airport.
Lufthansa's First Class Terminal (FCT) is technically not a lounge, or even located in the main terminal; it's actually an independent terminal completely dedicated to meeting the needs of (and pampering) first class passengers flying internationally. Simply put, it's an experience of multiple upscale services, as well as serving as a haven from the usual stress of traveling.

Inside Cunard's Newest Ship, the Queen Elizabeth
It may be freezing in New York City right now, but that doesn't mean the cruise ships will stay away...especially when there's things like fireworks promised. The three current Cunard shipsQueen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth were in the Big Apple on Thursday for just such a thing, a "Royal Rendezvous," if you will, and to herald the very first NYC visit of the Queen Elizabeth, which only hit the waves a couple weeks ago (after Queen Elizabeth II herself did the honors). So of course we hopped onboard for a whirlwind tour of the massive ship, only hours before her 2,000+ passengers continued on their Around-the-World voyage.
The MS Queen Elizabeth is the second largest Cunard ship ever built, after the Queen Mary 2, and it's sort of replacing the recently retired historic liner Queen Elizabeth II, who made her final NYC departure during the first Royal Rendezvous, in 2008, after forty years and over 700 stops in New York. She, in turn, replaced the RMS Queen Elizabeth, a liner-turned-troop ship-turned-liner during World War II. But now we're getting carried away...

Three Places to Find the 'Gold To Go' Gold Bar ATM
Japan may delight in having vending machines for almost everything, but there's one you can't yet find there: the Gold To Go gold bar-dispensing machine. Introduced only a couple years ago, they've been slow to roll out. They have appeared in a few places around the world, however, and we know where to find them when you need a solid gold fix.
Three Places to Find the Gold Bar Vending Machine:
· Frankfurt, Germany
Since the Gold To Go machine was invented by a German, it only makes sense for him to debut it in his home country. The first machines took up residence in two Frankfurt hotspots: Frankfurt International Airport and the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (main train station). Both are humongous transportation hubs, where people may be walking around with lots of cash and the will to pass some time playing with, and buying from, the Gold To Go. Options can cost as little as 40 Euro, but the prices are continually updated via an internal computer which monitors gold value.

Would You Pay $1400 for A Travel Wallet?
$1,400 for a red crocodile travel walletwould you pony up the money for it? Now, what about if we told you that it's a Tiffany & Co. wallet, and remember that it's real crocodile? We're just wondering, because that's one of the star items in the new Tiffany leather goods collection, designed by leather experts Lamberson Truex. And we have a feeling that now that the little blue box with the white ribbon can contain such a wallet, Tiffany isn't too far off from manufacturing luggage.
Just to be fair, this travel wallet is so pricey because of the croc; their other travel wallets average $500, so it's still nothing close to a bargain piece of travel gear.

Hugh Grant and Elizabeth Hurley Reunite on the French Riviera
Hugh Grant and Elzabeth Hurley prove that exes can still be friends. Ten years after their infamous break-up, Hugh flew to Nice, France to hang out with Liz, her son Damien (who greeted him at the airport), and her husband Arun Nayar.
Not long ago, Hurley addressed her relationship with Grant, saying, "Sometimes Hugh and I can get morbid and say we could have had five children by now because we were together since we were 21 but there was never a time when either of us wanted it."
The Daily Mail reports that Liz's family and a group of their close friends are currently staying at Elton John's villa in the French Riviera.

Leonardo DiCaprio Proves That It Pays To Have Friends In High Places
While Leonardo Dicaprio's latest movie, Inception, is confusing audiences across the country, his summer vacation plans are a no-brainer. Leo and his new bff, billionaire Vladimir Dorinin, are currently getting some much needed R & R on Vlad's yacht in Sardinia with their hot model girlfriends.
Leonardo and his girlfriend, Bar Refaeli, joined Vladimir and his gal pal, Naomi Campbell, on the boat a few weeks ago. The foursome has spent much of their time in the billionaire playground of Porto Cervo, where Leo and Vlad were spotted doing yoga with a personal trainer yesterday.

Michelle and Sasha Obama Go to Spain for Palaces, Paella and a Royal Meeting
'Tis the season for "girlfriend getaways" and mother-daughter bonding trips, except we really loathe that former term. Down in DC, the Obama girls are getting restless, since they're last few quick trips have been domestic, to Maine and Asheville, NC. So while daddy continues to wrestle with the BP oil spill and much more, Michelle has taken their youngest daughter Sasha to Marbella, Spain for a 4-day vacation.
Although Barack isn't joining them, Spain's Costa del Sol is still beside themselves with happiness over the presidential family visit and rolling out the red carpet. The girls are staying at the $2,500+ per night Villa Padierna, a Ritz-Carlton property with private pools and a palatial presence perfect for entrancing little girls. “This is a bonding trip between mother and daughter," says the US Embassy in Madrid, but there will be a proper royal visit made to King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia on Mallorca.

For $13,000, You Too Can Have Hermès Luggage
How much did you spend on your luggage? Is it a $500 Tumi special edition, or a $25 generic case from the seasonal shelves of your local Rite Aid? Either way, it is probably not nearly as technologically advanced or absolutely expensive as the "Orion" case by French luxury house Hermès. At $13,100 for just this one piece of luggage, it's definitely one of the priciest pieces of functional luggage we've ever seen, because we all know there are not-so-functional bags out there for six figures.
The Orion comes from Hermès' Spring/Summer 2010 Collection, which means it could be going on sale soon! That is, if they haven't all been bought up by Columbian drug lords or Russian spies.

Where to Find One of the World's First Gold Bar ATM Machines
Even though it sounds like something out of a James Bond movie, there is now an ATM that dispenses pure gold, and it happens to be in the one place we'd absolutely expect it to be: Abu Dhabi. Dubai ain't got nothing on them now, huh?
Sitting inside the Kempinski Emirates Palace Hotel on the West End Corniche, this machine will draw tourists and locals just to gawk at it, and who knows if security will be needed for people who actually want to use it to grab a gold bar to go. It's actually called Gold To Go, developed by a German, and it monitors the daily gold price ($1,245 an ounce yesterday!) and "offers small bars up to 10 grams or coins with customized designs." The first machines appeared in Frankfurt Airport a year ago, and now they're gaining steam.

These fashion hotels span the globe, but mostly (and sadly) ignore North America. Italy is the most popular country, but we are not surprised since Milan it's mainly Italian designers that began the movement to get their own hotels. Check out our complete list of all 25 after the jump, and do let us know in the comments which one you'd most like to visit.
