The Return of the $10 Rental Car Deal
Earlier this year we saw the annual return of the one-way rental car deals out of places like Florida, but this year the deals weren’t as extreme as in years past. Thankfully the rental car companies must have come to their senses, as it looks like the deals have expanded and become an even better deal.
Up first is Avis, as they have too many cars down in Florida and need to move ‘em elsewhere. You’ll be paying $9.95 per day for subcompact through standard car options, and you have through June 30 to book things and to get moving.
Enter AWD # S705900 when you’re ready to confirm, and you should be all set. All the details including the pickup locations can be found right here, as well as the drop off locations which include spots like New York, Connecticut, Michigan, Illinois and Colorado.

Where to Find 'Hertz Supercars': the Most Exotic of the Rental Exotics
Once again we’re a little bit jealous when it comes to rental car options outside of the nifty fifty. Sure we’ve got some decent options and the PT Cruiser is thankfully no longer one of them, but putting the pedal to the metal just isn’t the same when you’re stuck inside a Chevy Impala.
Over in Europe it’s quite a different story, as the continent seem to get all the good cars—as long as you’re willing to pay extra for them. Hertz is the latest company to add some exotic and fancy pants options to their Euro rental car lots.

The Return of the Cheapie One-Way Rental Car Deal
We’ve seen some pretty good rental car deals in the past, and that’s especially been the case during the spring and the fall. Rental car lots are filled with cars that need to get out of the warm weather states—or heads toward them—so they’re usually pretty good with giving away one-way rental cars for little more than the cost of gas and taxes. Hertz has always been at the forefront of these road trip sales, but it looks like things aren’t quite is fun this year.
In the past Hertz has offered one-way rental cars for as little as $5 per day, but this year they must be in need of a little more spending cash. They’re still ready to run their Florida Drive Out and Arizona Drive Out sales, but this year the deals start at around $18 per day.

Swap Your Auto Before Starting Up with Hertz's New Mobile Functions
They might not rely on mobile apps and technology like the new kids on the block over at Silvercar, but Hertz does know a thing or two about the rental car experience. They’re leveraging their mobile capabilities to reward some of their best customers, and they’re introducing a nifty little feature that might brighten your day as your approach the rental car garage.
Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members now have the ability to switch up their rental car selection right from their phone. That means changing your mind before buckling up, as Hertz will let you choose and switch to a different car with a few clicks, swipes, and gestures.

Rental Cars as WiFi Hotspots. It's Happening in Italy.
Italy has a lot of good stuff we don’t have here at home, but the thing we’re missing most here—besides an abundance of gelato—is WiFi in our rental cars.
All the car connection magic comes from the folks over at Hertz and their rental car empire. It’s called Hertz Mobile WiFi, and it’s a little pocket-sized thing that’s offered up to rental car customers in collaboration with Wind Mobile. Basically it sounds like a mobile hotspot that goes right in your car and gives you all-the-time access to the internet no matter how many wrong turns you take or exits you miss.

'Hertz For Heroes' is Giving Back Rental Car Cash to Those Who Deserve It Most
According to the television commercials that we’ve seen lately it’s already time to start our holiday shopping. However, before anyone wraps presents or even carves a turkey, there’s another holiday on the schedule—Veteran’s Day. Thankfully rental car giant Hertz is planning to continue their Hertz for Heroes program, as the company does their best to lend a hand to the brave men and women who protect our right to complain about airplanes and other travel calamites.
If you need to make a rental car reservation definitely consider Hertz, and set a reminder to do so in the next ten days or so. Hertz is chipping in a $1-per-rental-car reservation on November 11 and November 12, as the rental car company pledges to donate up to $50,000 to the Disabled American Veterans group. That’s a pretty decent chunk of change if you ask us, and it’s coming right from Hertz.

Rental Car Companies Finally Forced to Do Right Thing about Recalled Cars
There’s been an on-and-off battle over recalled rental cars for quite some time, one which has been in and out of the new for at least the last few years. Basically, car rental companies haven’t been doing their best when it comes to pulling recalled cars off the lot or sending them in for the necessary repairs. Obviously this isn’t a good idea, and that’s especially the case when it results in injuries, accidents, or other bad stuff.
Obviously there’s certain rules and regulations that have to be followed, but the basic premise is that rental car companies need to yank recalled cars off their lots as soon as possible. The new legislation requires the companies to stop renting out vehicles no later than 24 hours after getting the official recall notice, but the time period stretches up to 48 hours if the recall affects more than 5,000 cars within their garage.

Hungry Hungry Hertz Gobbles Up Dollar and Thrifty Rental Car
Big news in the world of rental cars this week, as Hertz is getting ready to gobble up a pair of smaller rental car companies. Hertz is joining forces with Dollar and Thrifty, and by that we mean that they’re taking over ownership of each of them.
Hertz is going to hand over quite a chunk of change, as it sounds like the deal is worth roughly $2.3 billion. As solid as things sound right now there’s always a bit of a chance that the situation could change, since the group responsible for both Dollar and Thrifty has around 30 days to entertain other offers. This means that someone like Avis could cash in their pennies and try to make their own billion dollar buyout proposal.

Hertz Rents Cars, Electric Bikes, RVs and Now...Boats
If you've ever been to Amsterdam you've seen themthe groups of young tourists who think it'd be cool to rent a boat and explore the city's canals, but then just end up blithely pedaling their way up one or two before giving up and hitting a "coffee shop" the rest of the afternoon.
Well, the embarrassment of the cheapie pedalboat is nearing its end as worldwide car rental giant Hertz has announced that Rent A Boat, an Amsterdam-based rental service for non-sucky watercraft.

Porsche to Hit the Rental Car Lots for the Very First Time
UPDATE: It seems that Hertz falsely claimed to be the first agency to rent Porsches, when Enterprise has been doing it in select places for 5 years. So really Hertz will just be the first with the Panamera model.
We know that they are plenty of awesome rental cars kicking around out there, but it looks like Hertz is adding something pretty sweet to their rental car collection. It’s not a convertible or a true super car, but we’ll take any flavor Porsche that’s offered up at the airport rental car lot.
As part of their Prestige Collection of vehicles, Hertz is bringing the Porsche Panamera into their stables. It’s the first time a rental car company in the United States is adding a Porsche as a regular rental option, so if the monthly payment is totally out of reach maybe you can afford to score one for just the weekend.
