It's Etihad, Alaska Airlines and United Starring in This Week's New Route News

February 24, 2012 at 12:02 PM | by | Comments (0)

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Etihad Airways:
They’re serious about expanding around the globe, as Etihad Airways is already focused on where they can send some of their planes in 2013. They must be really prepared—or just pretty darn excited—because Etihad just announced that they’ll be doing a nonstop flight between Washington, DC and Abu Dhabi starting on March 31 of 2013.

The flights will do their thing thanks to a little assistance from the airline’s fleet of Airbus A340s, and there will definitely be some swanky options for those with the cash to spend. In addition to 200 economy seats there will also be 28 Pearl business class seats and 12 Diamond first class seats. We’re willing to volunteer to serve as some first class diplomats—just let us know.

· Germanwings:
A little low-cost carrier love is now heading back and forth between the UK and Germany, as Germanwings has just launched some new service. Instead of heading to one of the lesser known airports, the latest Germanwings route is heading right into London-Heathrow after departing from Stuttgart, Germany.

The flights will head back and forth via plenty of Airbus A319s. If you don’t want to head into Heathrow there’s always still the option of London-Stansted, as Germanwings has plenty of flights to and from there as well. Just expect a little bit longer of a trip into the city once you're back on the ground.

Etihad, JetBlue and United Bring It with This Week's New Routes

December 2, 2011 at 9:42 AM | by | Comments (0)

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Etihad Airways:
There’s been a few flights trickling back into Libya now that things have—uh, stabilized—a bit, and now it’s time for the National Airline of the United Arab Emirates to do their thing as well. Etihad Airways is planning to fly some planes between Tripoli and Abu Dhabi beginning on January 17. Initially the flights will arrive via a stop in Alexandria, Egypt, but the flights will supposedly become a nonstop option once the airport in Tripoli can handle a little more traffic. Flights are scheduled to do their thing three times a week, so if you still need a collectable Tripoli shot glass for your collection, you know what to do.

· VietJetAir:
If you haven’t heard of VietJetAir—that’s okay—we just learned about them too! They’re the region’s newest low cost carrier, and they’re planning to do their thing starting on December 25—that’s Christmas in case you didn’t know. According to our pals over at AirlineRoute.net, the new airline will offer a couple daily flights between Ho Chi Minh – Hanoi, and if all goes well they’ll up it to thrice per day starting in January. After that, the plan is to link Ho Chi Minh with Da Nang beginning in February—happy holiday hopping in Vietnam!

New Routes from United, Etihad and Hawaiian Airlines to Get You Planning Vacation

November 4, 2011 at 10:00 AM | by | Comments (0)

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· United:
While United isn’t spilling the beans—or potatoes—just yet it sounds like the carrier is planning to link Washington-Dulles with Dublin beginning next May. Sure it might not bring the same kind of sprit that Aer Lingus does—with their green, Shamrocked planes and all—but a new international option out of our nation’s capital is always a good thing. Don’t expect crazy airfare deals to celebrate the new route, but a little healthy competition might help everyone out a bit.

· Frontier Airlines:
Along with in-flight cookies, Frontier Airlines should be known for sending plenty of folks from Kansas City around the nifty fifty, as this week they’re boosting their domestic network out of KC. The furry-animal-tailed airline is linking Kansas City with Houston as of this week everyday of the week. That’s not all either, as Frontier is also doing Kansas City to Las Vegas each day of the week except for Saturdays. We guess there’s just too much going on in Sin City to come home on a Saturday.

To Abu Dhabi with Bling: Etihad Introduces Swarovski First Class Kits

June 9, 2011 at 11:30 AM | by | Comment (1)

Be very jealous of Australian Business Traveler, as they were lucky enough to play with Etihad's new Swarovski amenity kits, the first and only Swarovski kits on an airline, given to First Class passengers flying primo routes on this Abu Dhabi-based airline.

The cases are gender-specific, and of course they've added a little crystal bling to the ladies' one, along with a nice miniature product lineup inside:

- for women, a fashionable black cosmetic purse detailed with exclusive crystals by Swarovski and products from luxury brand La Prairie such as moisturiser, hand cream and lip balm; and
- for men, an exclusive black leather cufflink box with quality amenities, such as a shaving kit with Schick Xtreme 3 razor and shaving cream.
