It's Condor, Alaska and WestJet Starring in This Week's New Route News

October 14, 2011 at 8:10 AM | by | Comments (0)

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Alaska Airlines:
This week’s big new route winner—at least to us—has to be the new options from Alaska Airlines. They’re sending their eskimo-tailed planes to two new spots beginning sooner than later. Up first is a nonstop option between Seattle and Kansas City starting up in March of 2012.

Next is a new option between San Jose and Palm Springs, but this is just a seasonal thing. This flight runs throughout the winter before taking the summer off beginning around June. Alaska is ready to celebrate the new options, so they’ve got both routes on sale for between $89 and $99 each way depending on when you’re headed.

· Porter Airlines:
Residents of the Big Apple aren’t too far from some great skiing this season, as Porter Airlines is bringing a new nonstop option between Newark-Liberty and Mont Tremblant, Quebec beginning right before Christmas. Sure it’s not Aspen or Park City, but it’s definitely a lot closer and in the same time zone. The flights begin on December 22 and continue to do their thing through the April 5. Expect plenty of fun and service both on the ground and in the air, as Porter Airlines is all about customer service—including free booze!

JetBlue, Vision Airlines and Emirates Boast Some of This Week's New Routes

July 1, 2011 at 9:05 AM | by | Comments (0)

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· JetBlue:
Good news for those in the Nutmeg State who don't feel like driving over to New York or Boston, as JetBlue just upped their offerings out of Bradley International Airport outside of Hartford. The free chips and television carrier will start nonstop flights between Connecticut and San Juan beginning in January of next year. Even if Puerto Rico isn't your final destination, no need to worry, as there's plenty of other connection options available to other slices of paradise.

· Emirates:
There's certainly been plenty options to and from Iraq lately, and this week it looks like Emirates is adding one more. Beginning in November, the carrier will start service between Baghdad and Dubai. Specifically things will begin on November 13, and Emirates is planning to head back and forth four times a week. So if you've been thinking about hitting up Iraq before everyone else does, now's the time to visit.

Europe is This Week's Big Winner When It Comes to New Routes

March 11, 2011 at 9:17 AM | by | Comments (0)

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Continental(...and United):
The combined force that is the new United is bringing us their fifth nonstop option into Germany. United and Continental—although for now it’s technically Continental—are teaming up to launch nonstop service between Newark and Stuttgart. We’re thinking tickets should be on sale soon—if not already—as the new flights start up on June 9. Just beware that the flights will be operated by Boeing 757s, which means only one aisle of airplane space to stretch your legs during the overnight flight! The new flights will run back and forth seven days a week.

· Spirit Airlines:
You know how we feel about Spirit Airlines, but we still have to let you know what they’re up to. After all, even with all the fees slapped onto some of their tickets, they still can be a great deal. So the new option is between Chicago-O’Hare and Atlantic City. Sure, it’s not exactly Las Vegas, but when you need some gambling and a dose of Jersey—it’ll do. The flights run five days a week right now, but after April 1 things run every day.

Condor, AirTran, and Cathay Pacific Lead This Week's New Routes

December 10, 2010 at 8:49 AM | by | Comments (0)

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Condor:
We’re pretty intrigued by this new route, as passengers in the Seattle area might have a cheaper option for their 2011 European vacations. Condor Airlines—they’re part of the Thomas Cook group—is launching service from Seattle to Frankfurt on June 23. The flights will only be on Mondays and Thursdays, at least at first, and a little competition with Lufthansa could bring prices down for everyone on the route. Condor will be running Boeing 767-300s back and forth on this route, and there’s three classes of service to choose from—economy, premium economy and "comfort class."

If things go well in Seattle, Condor might even consider some other US destinations. There’s a little rumor floating around that somewhere in Florida—maybe near Tampa—could be getting service once 2012 rolls around.

· Frontier:
The furry animals and warm cookies are on the move once again, as Frontier Airlines is shaking up the schedule to and from Denver early next year. No crazy warm weather destinations or other fun options, but there’s plenty of practicality built in to these new options. Expect flights to Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, New York, and Sacramento beginning next spring. In additional to the big city options the airline will also be bringing back its seasonal service to Fairbanks, Alaska beginning on May 13. All the new flights are bookable through September of next year, so start planning!
