Black Friday, Brangelina Style

December 1, 2008 at 9:15 AM | 0 Comments

Lining up at Wal-Mart is for the rest of us! Angelina Jolie took son Maddox to New Orleans' Little Toy Shop in the French Quarter. The store, which specializes in "tiny collectible figurines and die-cast miniatures, toys and puzzles," closed over the weekend especially so that the Jolie-Pitts could do a little shopping.

While rainstorms caused minor delays last night up and down the East Coast, travel was relatively light this weekend due in part to an eight percent drop in volume overall from last year. But we understand why the Jolie-Pitt fortress may have preferred to stick close to home (or rather, the home away from home purchased when Pitt was filming "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button").

Brad Pitt's Mustache Eating Dinner?

November 7, 2008 at 9:20 AM | 1 Comment

The Super World Traveler displayed a new, and some might say unfortunate, look at Mercer Kitchen in SoHo last night. Hey, where's Angelina?

Just like his buddy George Clooney, Pitt grew the mustache for a role, this one in Quentin Tarantino's new flick "Inglorious Bastards." It was for this movie that the Jolie-Pitt Circus moved to an estate outside of Berlin so Brad could commute from the set.

We're surprised Brad didn't get the memo: It may have a coveted spot at the trendy Mercer Hotel, but Frank Bruni gave the Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant 0 stars, stamping it "satisfactory." Maybe one of his newer restaurants in New York, like Perry Street or Spice Market, would be a better culinary choice. Or he could wait for J-G's new project, opening in Vancouver in 2009--by which time that facial hair should be long gone.

Angie Returns from Afghanistan Visit

October 27, 2008 at 11:35 AM | 0 Comments

Fertility goddess, action-movie heroine and UN Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie has returned from a two-day visit to some of the most war-torn regions of Afghanistan, her first trip to the country. Her stops included Kabul, once on the mend but now back in the throes of violence.

She also traveled to Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan, UN reports say, and the Lower Sheikh Mesri settlement site, where some 1,400 refugee families have returned to the country from Pakistan since the fall of the Taliban in 2001, only to set up homes in shelters and tents. Residents shared with Angelina stories about their hardships and their limited access to basic necessities.

Upon leaving Afghanistan, the actress made a plea with the international community to provide more support. Then, we assume, she returned home to the international community of her own.

Super World Travelers, What's So Great About Wannsee?

September 24, 2008 at 9:15 AM | 0 Comments

Southern France is so last summer: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have moved their brood to a southwestern corner of Berlin known for its lakes and historical infamy. Picturesque Wannsee features a long inland beach along two lakes that's perfect for the Jolie-Pitt kids, so long as nannies abound.

Pitt just signed on to Quentin Tarantino's remake of the Italian World War II classic "Inglorious Bastards," in which a group of prisoners escape around D-Day and find themselves wedged between both sides. The film is shooting in nearby Potsdam in the next few months, allowing Pitt to commute to "work." ("Inglorious Bastards" costars "National Treasure"'s Diane Kruger, horror director Eli Roth and "The Office"'s B.J. Novak.)

Sadly for us, it looks like the closest the Super World Travelers are going to get to the US this fall is on the big screen: Pitt's "Burn After Reading" topped the box office two weekends ago, while Jolie's "Changeling" will be feted at the New York Film Festival.

Wannsee is known to German history buffs as the location for the conference that outlined the "Final Solution"--the nest of policies that led to the Holocaust--in 1942.

Water Taxi Travel: Brad On A Boat!

August 29, 2008 at 9:15 AM | 0 Comments

After what must have been an entire week of whining, Super World Traveler Brad Pitt takes sons Maddox and Pax on a water taxi ride in Venice, Italy during the Venice Film Festival. Dad Brad already won best actor for his performance in last year's "The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford," so he had plenty of time to relax.

We may joke about how much Brangelina travels, but it is truly mind-boggling that they were able to do that and between them make three Oscar-caliber movies in the same year. (Brad's "Burn After Reading" opens Sept. 12 and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" Dec. 25; Angelina's "Changeling" opens Oct. 31.) Talk about super overachievement.

No way! Super World Travelers' Babies Look Like... Babies

August 4, 2008 at 8:45 AM | 0 Comments

People magazine got the first rights to publish the photos of Knox Leon "First-Class" and Vivienne Marcheline "5-Star" Pitt-Jolie in the US for a cool $14 million, but we prefer this slightly less glowy version from London tabloid Hello! One for the baby books!

The Jolie-Pitt Empire is still holed up in southern France following the births, which took place July 12. Despite the best efforts of paparazzi who tangled with local law enforcement for the right to stake out the house, the twins were kept a secret until now, when it was revealed that in fact they did not spring out of the womb fully grown. Who knew?!

Super World Travelers Finally Multiply

July 14, 2008 at 8:55 AM | 0 Comments

Time to print out some new passports: Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon Jolie-Pitt were born yesterday in Nice, France. Mom and twins, who stunned the world by failing to be born when Entertainment Tonight! said they would, were doing fine according to a statement by the mayor of Nice.

Vivienne and Knox join their four siblings, adoptees from Cambodia, Ethiopia and Vietnam and a biological sister who was born in Namibia. Now they're only three bodies away from being able to field their own World Cup soccer team.

Super World Travelers Baby Watch: World Fixated on Jolie's Belly

July 2, 2008 at 8:45 AM | 0 Comments

They faked us out once before, so we'll be super careful in announcing that allegedly Angelina Jolie checked into a hospital yesterday to go on bed rest before she gives birth to the latest Super World Travelers, the twins she is expecting with Brad Pitt.

The babes, reportedly twin girls, will have dual French citizenship because she's currently resting in L'Hopital Lenval in Nice.

"Entertainment Tonight" led the charge in late May to declare that the twins, reportedly due in August, had already been born. Turned out it was just a rumor, possibly spread by an ex-Super Traveler sidekick (er, assistant). This time it was the French media's turn to jump the gun on the planned expansion to America's real first family. But if she were just there for a checkup, would her obstetrician be giving a press conference? We think not!

Movie Set Travel: Wanted

June 27, 2008 at 9:35 AM | 0 Comments

Summer's big action-adventure flicks are finally surfacing and "Wanted" won't disappoint. Angelina's back as a gun-toting, ass-kicking secret society trainer for a young man who finds out his father was an assassin. (You can barely tell she'll soon be a mother of 5!)

Wes Gibson (James McAvoy) is a boring office drone popping anti-anxiety meds when he meets Fox (Jolie) and finds out his father was a member of a secret society of assassins called "Fraternity." Fox takes him under her wing and trains him to bring out his own special powers and avenge his father's death. It's a comic book come to life, in which all the characters are stunning.

"Wanted" was shot in stunning Prague, so this Friday we offer you some cool things to check out in the Czech capital.

Super World Travelers Just Can't Be Tied Down

June 20, 2008 at 9:15 AM | 0 Comments

They enrolled the kids in schools there. One of them worked there. And rumor had it they were going to get married there. But nothing can hold Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie back from what they were born to do: crisscross the globe.

That's why after 2 years, the Super World Travelers and their brood have sold their New Orleans home and, Pied Piper-style, have drawn the paparazzi presence around them to France.

The couple had become involved in post-Katrina rebuilding efforts in New Orleans, dedicating their names and money if not their time. But maybe Angelina wanted a more secluded location, like southeast France, for when she finally gives birth to her expected twins?

Super World Travelers Always Looking for Souvenirs

June 5, 2008 at 9:00 AM | 0 Comments

Good luck putting that in your checked bag: Brad Pitt toured Art Basel in Switzerland yesterday and dropped over $1 million on art. Apparently the brand new soon-to-be father has a bit of the nesting impulse; chief among his purchases was a $293,000... table.

He also picked up a lamp and some chairs. (You can feast your eyes here.)

It's easier to bring giant art in through the airport than, say, perfume in a four-ounce bottle bought outside security. But you might want a refresher on duty-free rules. Not that Super World Travelers need to handle that kind of thing--they have staff.
