So Cool: ANA Threw a Special Plane Party at Tokyo-Haneda
Okay, this is just plain amazing.
On Christmas Eve, Japanese airline ANA managed to get all of their airplanes sporting special livery into Tokyo-Haneda Airport at the same time, parked at gates one after the other. The planning and background teamwork behind making an event like this happen in staggering; we only wish ANA had devoted more than a small Facebook photoset to the day.
Stars of the tarmac on December 24 were the Pokémon 747s, the 787 Dreamliners, the retro livery, Star Alliance livery and even more.
Just imagine if Southwest Airlines tried something like this. There'd be an Orca whale landing, followed by the state of Florida, followed by Bar Refaeli in a bikini (wait, is that plane still flying?).
Anyway, awesome job, ANA. Same time, same place next year?

Check Out ANA's Spiffy New Dreamliner Livery

The first livery for the 787s. Not the new stuff.
Japan's All Nippon Airways has been quick to create some fancy new liveries and paint jobs for their fleet of brandy new Boeing 787 Dreamliners. However, the painters and workers in the hangars are still hard at work, as it looks like they’ll be using yet another special paint scheme for their latest deliveries.
As ANA gets some more and more new planes they’ll mix up the liveries just a little bit. The fresh batch of Dreamliners—these are the ones that will likely be the first to hit the nifty fifty—will still have “787” scrolled across the side, but the colors will be more aligned with the traditional ANA designs. This will also be the more permanent look, so expect this color scheme to be around for quite some time.
Here it is:

New Routes from ANA, AirTran, and More to Get You Psyched for 2012
Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.
· All Nippon Airways:
It’s finally time for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to head to the nifty fifty, as All Nippon Airways is planning some nonstop service out of Tokyo-Narita. The new flights will head right into San Jose, California as well as Seattle, so it’s kind of a homecoming for the new plane—after all, all the bits and pieces were put together in Seattle.
The flights are supposed to start at some point after April 1 of next year, and we’re thinking that it’ll be sometime that month for sure. Japan Airlines launches their 787 flights to Boston in April, so we bet that ANA will do everything they can to be the first ones to fly to the United States. So if you still haven’t planned a trip to lose your 787 virginity these might just be the flights that you’ve been waiting for.
· REDjet:
Down in the Caribbean it’s business as usual for REDjet, as the area’s first low-cost carrier continues to link slices of paradises on the cheap. The latest plan is to connect Barbados with Saint Lucia two times per week thanks to their fleet of MD82 airplanes. There are still some $9.99 one-way fares—before taxes, fees, and other stuff—during the month of January, but more popular dates seem to go for around $40 each way. Still it’s way faster than renting a kayak—and way safer—so definitely give REDjet a call if you’re looking to a little Caribbean island hoping.

ANA is Keen to Launch New Budget Airline, 'Peach'
In case you were wondering where all the airline action is these days (you probably aren't, but we're going to tell you anyway)...it's in Asia. New airlines are popping up like pimples on prom night. AirAsia's got AirAsia Japan and Caterham Jet, Qantas is toying with RedQ and Singapore wants to Scoot. Oh, ANA (aka home of the first 787s) wants in one the game too, and they're launched a cute little airline called "Peach."
Peach is really happening, as they've just taken delivery of their first actual plane, a leased Airbus A320 painted in some hot pink and fuchsia livery. March 2012 is the projected go-time for Peach, which is based at Osaka's Kansai International Airport and planning to fly from KIX to domestic spots like Fukuoka and Sapporo, with international routes to follow.

In-Flight Cocktail of the Month: ANA's 'Aromatic Kabosu'
As many already know, we have a serious obsession with airline cocktails, and so much is our passion that we've created a whole first-Friday-of-the-month feature called In-Flight Cocktail of the Month, which highlights the special concoctions that flight attendants whip up with only a cocktail shaker, some tiny liquor bottles and a whole lot of hope that it won't make you drunk and unruly.
Now that the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner is finally up in the air and regularly flying passengers around Japan with All Nippon Airways, it's time to start thinking about making the trip. When you do, it's not only a unique experience because of the chance to fly the latest in commercial aviation technology, but also because ANA features little details in their in-flight service you don't find on other airlines.
For one, ANA still gives out metal utensils (stamped with the ANA logo) to first, business and economy passengers at mealtimes. For another, they have their own special non-alcoholic drink called "Aromatic Kabosu."

Got $1,500? Then You've Got the First Boeing 787 Dreamliner Long-Haul Tickets
With the new year comes new beginnings, and though it may still be a little early to think about what you're up to next week let alone January 2012, you better if you want to score a seat on the first international long-haul route of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
ANA, launch airline of the Dreamliner who'll put their first one into regular domestic service as soon as the end of this month, have just released tickets for the 787's Tokyo-Haneda to Frankfurt International route, which will begin flying as NH 203 and NH 204 on Saturday, January 21. It's only a thrice-weekly service, so no flying there and right back to experience it; you've actually got to stay a bit in Germany and have a pretzel or two.

JetBlue, Qantas and Caribbean Airlines All Add New Routes This Week
Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.
· JetBlue:
Residents of the Constitution State are getting pretty friendly with JetBlue, and to reward their loyalty the airline is now offering up nonstop flights from Hartford to West Palm Beach. It’s going to be a daily affair all year long, and things kick off for the first time on January 12. If you’re thinking about checking out what JetBlue has to offer—act quickly—as some of the initial fares can be had for just $79 each way. Now all Connecticut needs is another nonstop to a Caribbean island—something that requires a passport—and they’ll be all set!
· Caribbean Airlines:
If you need somewhere to catch up on the sun and sand this winter there’s always Guyana, and thanks to Caribbean Airlines you can get there direct from New York-JFK. The airline is boosting its schedule for the busy holiday travel season, and it’s the first time they’re offering this option up without a layover. Don’t expect any deals or limited time offers to celebrate the new option, because you know they are only increasing the schedule for the holidays to cash in.

Four Videos from the Boeing 787 First Delivery in Everett, WA
As you probably well know by now, we spent several days this week up at Boeing HQ in Everett, WA, peeking around the 787 Dreamliner factory and the actual thing out on the tarmac. We've showed you everything from the slick exterior and interior to the "airplane supermarket," and of course the ginormous factory line.
We captured more than photos, however; there's video too, including the Dreamliner's First Delivery Flight as she takes off for her home with ANA in Tokyo. Here's a few quick videos from our days at the Boeing 787 First Delivery event:

Guess What Airline Still Gives Metal Forks, Knives and Spoons in Economy Class?
The photo gives away the answer, which is Japanese airline ANA, also the star of the week as they took First Delivery of Boeing's much-delayed 787 Dreamliner. But back to the goods...
We flew ANA from Bangkok to Tokyo just this weekend, and while the sun rose over Japan and we descended into Narita, ANA's perfectly coiffed flight attendants, with their perfect neckscarf rosettes, passed around breakfast. Imagine our surprise when a trio of metal utensils clattered out of the baggie with the refreshing wipe.

Inside the Boeing 787 Dreamliner Factory Line
It is the domain of the chosen: The Boeing 787 Dreamliner factory floor in Everett, WA. The many, many workers underneath this roof are among the brightest and most dedicated, their desks spotless and the building quiet on a Sunday. As one of the small number of people who are invited to visit all the way down to the factory floor, we were honored to get right up close to tomorrow's crop of Dreamliner, still either being put together from pieces at one end, to being shined up on the other.

So, You Want To Buy A Boeing 787 Dreamliner?
So, you wan to buy a Boeing 787 Dreamliner? Our first question is: do you have between $190 million and $220 million dollars? Our second question: do you have somewhere to park it?
If you've answered to both questions above, then it's high time you paid a visit to Boeing's Dreamliner Gallery, a 787 shopping mall of sorts, where airline customers come to pick out all the goodies they want insidefrom seats to bun warmers. It's a nice building all its own, and pretty much a playground for anyone who enjoys airplanes.
There's an entire room just for economy, business class and first class seat options, and a wall of TVs for in-flight entertainment choice. Lavatories galore, crew galleys empty of their ovens, and a another wall just for showcasing the variety of ovens and coffee makers that may be installed.

Inside ANA's Boeing 787 Dreamliner on First Delivery Day
The celebration is still going strong today in Everett, WA as Boeing and ANA welcome the first finished and delivered 787 Dreamliner to the skies. We mean literally, as today focused on seeing off the fresh bird as she took flight towards her new home in Tokyo.
It's been a long and different road for all parties involved in the 787, and it's crazy to step inside and walk the aisles, sit in the seats, poke the seatback TV screens, and think all the sweat that went into this moment.
We won't bother with the colorful adjectives as the photos speak for themselves. And now, the interior of ANA's Boeing 787 Dreamliner:
