What's Going On For Yankees Fans During The World Series

October 27, 2009 at 1:55 PM | by kjb | 1 Comment

After several years out of the big game spotlight, the New York Yankees have returned to the World Series. This year is even a bigger deal since they’re proud to debut their new home. Whether you like the Yankees or the Phillies we wanted to give you the run down on what to expect at each stadium before, during, and after the game. Of course, feel free to ignore all this advice below if you'd rather just watch the game. After all, that's what you paid for.

· Before The Game
We’ve already told Big Apple natives the best way to reach the new Yankee Stadium, but we realize that loads of fans are coming in from the suburbs. Fans that are located within the Metro North service area will be happy to know that extra trains will be running directly to the stadium each night the game is in town. Just follow the schedule that’s most convenient to your neighborhood—there’s usually no need to connect through Grand Central. However, those stuck with NJ Transit will probably need to change trains.

Now that you’ve arrived you’ll need something to do, but forget about bringing your own pregame beverage—the city’s finest will be out in full force. So just head around the corner and down a few with your fellow fans at Stan’s Sports Bar. You’re not going for the service, but the atmosphere will certainly prepare you for a night of cheering. After you’ve entered the stadium, but before taking your seat, swing by Monument Park. Pay your respects to Yankee legends, but please, don’t get emotional, it’s just a game.

A Tale of Two Stadiums: How to Enjoy the Game at Yankee and Citi Field Ballparks

April 1, 2009 at 4:22 PM | by kjb | 5 Comments

Now that spring is finally here we can finally start planning our travel around baseball games and their new stadiums. No matter who wins or loses, it’s fun just to check out what some of the new stadiums have to offer. Ever since the Baltimore Orioles opened their retro stadium in the 1990s, take me out to the ballgame has been way more exciting.

Unfortunately, most MLB teams already have new stadiums, so the building craze is finally slowing down. However, New York City’s two teams finally finished building their new homes—and we can’t wait to check them out. They’ve spent loads of cash, and it looks like these two beauties will not disappoint.

Yankee Stadium Travel: "Red Carpet" All Star Parade Planned

June 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM | by Hunter Walker | 0 Comments

Major League Baseball announced plans yesterday for a huge parade to commemorate the last season at the original Yankee Stadium. Major League Baseball Executive VP Tim Brosnan says the event "should and will rival the great parades of New York City history."

The parade will be part of the celebrations for the 2008 All Star Game, which is taking place at the stadium on July 15. Unlike the ticker tape bashes held when the Yankees were actually winning games, this "red carpet parade" will be held in Midtown instead of in the Financial District's "Canyon of Heroes."

The parade will travel along 6th Avenue from 40th to 58th Street. Marchers will include the 2008 MLB All Stars along with legendary baseball Hall of Famers. As far as we're concerned, though, the only real baseball parades should involve a World Series win. These MLB execs can throw all the gala corporate-sponsored events they want and it won't make up for the fact that they're demolishing the House That Ruth Built.
