Where: Bahamas
November 13, 2012 at 3:47 PM | by | Comments (0)

Wedding bells can now ring anywhere Royal Caribbean ships sail with the introduction of onboard nuptials. Leave the details to the experts on the ship and your big day will be just as nice as on terra firma.

This is a first for the cruise line, and the 'Royal Romance' program allows for couples to say their "I dos" and those already wed to renew their vows while on vacation. The ship's captain officiates the ceremony and the registration for the marriage will be based in the Bahamas, the registry of the fleet of ships.

Where to Celebrate a Same-Sex Marriage in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota and Washington

November 7, 2012 at 11:19 AM | by | Comment (1)

After (probably) staying up late last night and biting off all of your fingernails, Election 2012 finally came to an end with the result that there won't be any packing up going on in the White House.

Here at Jaunted, we always look at the travel angle and, of course, there was a huge issue to watch: that of gay marriage. Four states— Maine, Maryland, Minnesota and Washington—had a proposal on the ballot for the legalization of same-sex marriage. In all four states it passed and now happy couples of all sorts can say their "I dos" in each (not to mention a few others). This ultimately opens up the possibility of gay marriage travel and honeymoon travel. And voila, you have the travel angle.

The Skywriting That Took New York City's Beautiful Day by Storm

May 21, 2012 at 10:58 AM | by | Comments (0)

In you case you missed it on our Instagram feed yesterday, a single sentence of skywriting appeared above Manhattan on Sunday afternoon and, in the clear blue sky, spelled out "Christine Hall Will U Marry Me."

Immediately Twitter and Instagram went crazy with news and images of the skywriting, as it could be spotted from as far as Riverside Park on the west side of the Manhattan, to where we stood in Astoria, Queens (cause you know we look up at the sound of any airplane engine). The entire stretch of dot-matrix cloud letters could be best read from the middle of Central Park, where it seems the couple were relaxing on what was, weather-wise, perhaps the nicest New York day yet.

Hawaii Now One Major Step Closer to Becoming Gay Wedding Hot Spot of 2012

January 2, 2012 at 12:05 PM | by | Comments (0)

Happy New Year! Also, happy year that more same-sex couples will achieve equal (or at least equal-er) rights. Just yesterday, January 1, two more US states switched to legally recognizing and performing civil unions. These are Delaware and Hawaii. For the moment, let's focus on the latter.

Hawaii is the only US state west of the Mississippi River to allow same-sex civil unions. None have gone so far as marriage (the California Prop 8 debacle came closest) and what this means for gay couples is that their union—not just the honeymoon—can also happen in the Aloha State.

According to The Baltimore Sun/KTLA, the turning of the calendar immediately coincided with the law going in effect:

Oh, and if you’re in Reno, tattoos and discount liquor and cigarettes. How romantic!

They all share a building with the Arch of Reno wedding chapel on Virginia Street. Just the kind of place you’d want to pledge your troth.

If you want something more, uhh, classic, you can go for the Antique Angel wedding chapel, a block further down. It has nice views of the Truckee River!

Bora Bora Gets the Kim Kardashian Bikini Treatment

August 16, 2011 at 1:45 PM | by | Comment (1)

Love them or hate them, everyone has an opinion on the Kardashian family and their hit E! reality TV show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians. That's precisely what makes it so popular—the sweet hate or jealousy their shallow adventures inspire, or just the over-the-top glamor of it all; there's something for everyone. Truth be told, we only tune in when the whole Kardash-klan is packing up like twenty trunks to head out on vacation.

And now an announcement of immense importance: the big family trip this season was to Bora Bora in French Polynesia and those episodes—a 3-part series culminating in Kris' marriage proposal to Kim—begin airing this weekend.

How to Get Tickets to the Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace

Where: Buckingham Palace, London, United Kingdom
August 3, 2011 at 1:43 PM | by | Comments (3)

The back of the Palace, facing the Palace Gardens.

A little riddle for you: What costs $30 per person, doesn't allow you to take photographs, and is gold all over? Ding ding ding—the State Rooms at London's Buckingham Palace, which opened last week for their annual round of public tours. Travelers to London are clamoring to get in, not only to tread on the Queen's lush carpets and gawk at the royal family's heirlooms, but also to spend some quality time with Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen wedding dress, which has pride of place on display in the palace's ballroom.

Tickets are understandably rare for walk-ups—we heard "fully committed" said quite a bit while passing the ushers at the entrance to the visitor's area, so going online for tix is the best route. Here's how to do it:

Three More of New York City's Gayest Places to Get Married

July 25, 2011 at 5:58 PM | by | Comments (0)

This weekend, when the same-sex marriage law took full effect, allowing couples to actually say "I do," a record 659 marriage licenses were picked up in just one day. There will be plenty more of this, and you can bet the wedding industry in NY state is positively jumping with excitement. The race is one to have the coolest wedding venue, and although we've already talked up The Five Gayest Places to Get Married in NYC, we found three more:

· The New York Public Library Main Branch at Bryant Park.
C'mon. It's where Carrie from Sex and the City was originally supposed to marry Big, until he had second thoughts. She ended up at the court house with him in the end, but that doesn't mean you have to take the bare-bones approach as well. The Astor Hall is a must-see, even if you can't pony up the $$$$ to get married in it.

The NYPL is well known for their extensive research collection of LGBT literature, whose mass sum equals over 100,000 volumes and 300 archival collections. Highlights include works by "pivotal LGBT artists and cultural figures" such as William Burroughs, W. H. Auden, Virgina Woolf, and Charles Ludlum.

Celebrate Equality by Getting Married for Free in Central Park

June 30, 2011 at 12:40 PM | by | Comments (0)

As you're probably well aware by now, NY State has legalized same-sex marriage. Governor Cuomo signed the bill into law last weekend, and 30 days from that signature the nuptials are green lit to begin. Thus, in true New York quick-quick style, a pop-up chapel in Central Park is scheduled for July 30.

And guess what—it'll be FREE! According to Gothamist:

We provide the wedding! And the photographer! And the officiant! And witnesses! And cupcakes! And music! And everything you’ve always dreamed of! A free and legal wedding... We will perform your wedding ceremony, sign your license, and process the paperwork.

Gothamist also notes that you can go snag yourself one of those coveted marriage licenses as soon as July 5, but you must wait until the end of July to actually do the deed for it to be legal and binding.

If you're interested in being one of the lucky couples to enjoy a free wedding on a historial weekend in the middle of Central Park, hit up the organizers of the event with your story by emailing them at info@popupchapel.com. And, you know, follow them on Twitter, @popupchapel.

Where were you on Friday night when the Same-Sex Marriage Law passed in the New York State Senate? We were in the melee that was New York City when something amazing happens, as locals poured into the street, honked their car horns and threw spontaneous parties, regardless of sexual orientation, to celebrate another step in the fight for equality.

It's been a whirlwind weekend with the news and the Pride Parade all rolled into one, but this excitement is nothing compared to what will happen less than 30 days from now, when the law Governor Cuomo signed takes effect and gay couples can hold in their hands their marriage license.

Now everyone can be hitched in New York City, and maybe even choose one of these Five Gayest Places in New York to Get Married:
