Hawaii Now One Major Step Closer to Becoming Gay Wedding Hot Spot of 2012
Happy New Year! Also, happy year that more same-sex couples will achieve equal (or at least equal-er) rights. Just yesterday, January 1, two more US states switched to legally recognizing and performing civil unions. These are Delaware and Hawaii. For the moment, let's focus on the latter.
Hawaii is the only US state west of the Mississippi River to allow same-sex civil unions. None have gone so far as marriage (the California Prop 8 debacle came closest) and what this means for gay couples is that their unionnot just the honeymooncan also happen in the Aloha State.
According to The Baltimore Sun/KTLA, the turning of the calendar immediately coincided with the law going in effect:

Three More of New York City's Gayest Places to Get Married
This weekend, when the same-sex marriage law took full effect, allowing couples to actually say "I do," a record 659 marriage licenses were picked up in just one day. There will be plenty more of this, and you can bet the wedding industry in NY state is positively jumping with excitement. The race is one to have the coolest wedding venue, and although we've already talked up The Five Gayest Places to Get Married in NYC, we found three more:
· The New York Public Library Main Branch at Bryant Park.
C'mon. It's where Carrie from Sex and the City was originally supposed to marry Big, until he had second thoughts. She ended up at the court house with him in the end, but that doesn't mean you have to take the bare-bones approach as well. The Astor Hall is a must-see, even if you can't pony up the $$$$ to get married in it.
The NYPL is well known for their extensive research collection of LGBT literature, whose mass sum equals over 100,000 volumes and 300 archival collections. Highlights include works by "pivotal LGBT artists and cultural figures" such as William Burroughs, W. H. Auden, Virgina Woolf, and Charles Ludlum.

Celebrate Equality by Getting Married for Free in Central Park
As you're probably well aware by now, NY State has legalized same-sex marriage. Governor Cuomo signed the bill into law last weekend, and 30 days from that signature the nuptials are green lit to begin. Thus, in true New York quick-quick style, a pop-up chapel in Central Park is scheduled for July 30.
And guess whatit'll be FREE! According to Gothamist:
We provide the wedding! And the photographer! And the officiant! And witnesses! And cupcakes! And music! And everything you’ve always dreamed of! A free and legal wedding... We will perform your wedding ceremony, sign your license, and process the paperwork.
Gothamist also notes that you can go snag yourself one of those coveted marriage licenses as soon as July 5, but you must wait until the end of July to actually do the deed for it to be legal and binding.
If you're interested in being one of the lucky couples to enjoy a free wedding on a historial weekend in the middle of Central Park, hit up the organizers of the event with your story by emailing them at info@popupchapel.com. And, you know, follow them on Twitter, @popupchapel.

Where were you on Friday night when the Same-Sex Marriage Law passed in the New York State Senate? We were in the melee that was New York City when something amazing happens, as locals poured into the street, honked their car horns and threw spontaneous parties, regardless of sexual orientation, to celebrate another step in the fight for equality.
It's been a whirlwind weekend with the news and the Pride Parade all rolled into one, but this excitement is nothing compared to what will happen less than 30 days from now, when the law Governor Cuomo signed takes effect and gay couples can hold in their hands their marriage license.
Now everyone can be hitched in New York City, and maybe even choose one of these Five Gayest Places in New York to Get Married:

Chilling with London Locals for a Lazy Royal Wedding Day
As promised, our feet were on the ground in London on Royal Wedding Day, albeit far from the crush and mania of the procession route and Buckingham Palace. While royalists clamoured for a view of The Dress and the happy couple's balcony kiss (times two) we chose to huddle indoors and watch the ceremony, safe from tourists with their Union Jack stunner shades and homemade fascinators. An ever-so-quick glimpse of the RAF flypast was the closest Jaunted got to the action.

Famous Royal Honeymoon Destinations throughout History
We don't have to tell you that a big deal went down this morning (or afternoon, UK time): the The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. Now that the dress designer has been unveiled (Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen) and the ring shown (a simple gold band), the next big question is where the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will head for the Royal Honeymoon.
Currently the frontrunner for the destination is Australia, although Kenya, Corfu, The Seychelles or The Isles of Scilly have also been mentioned. Wherever they go, it won't be their first stop; the couple is due to spend their first nights in the Scottish Highlands at Balmoral Estate.
Let's see where other royal couples of the past have chosen to spend their Royal Honeymoons:

It's a Nice Day for Three Alternative White Wedding Parties in Londontown
Admit it: you secretly want a sticker or a mug.
In January, our sister site HotelChatter ran a series on Anti-Royal Wedding Hotels, a roundup of London accommodations for those braving Wills and Kate madness and seeking lodgings less stodgy than the city's chi-chi five-star options.
In similar fingers up fashion, we here at Jaunted have cobbled together a list of three Royal Wedding celebrations far from the fray of Westminster. Though we'll have our feet planted firmly on the ground in Londontown, we won't be trekking to Hyde Park or anywhere along the procession path, reports of rain and screaming royalists being enough to deter us. Yet we won't avoid the festivities altogether; the excitement pulsing through central London is palpable, morbid curiosity and the excuse to quaff with abandon reason enough to venture onto the city streets that day/evening.
Rebelliously partake in the mania at these alternative Royal Wedding parties taking place in London:
