Madame Tussauds and Hard Rock Cafes Set Their Sights on Asia

If you've been pining for some China travel or Thailand travel, but have been holding off because they're too unique or interesting or exciting, you might want to start looking at some of those exciting Asian LCCs that we've been writing so much about. News on the hotel and entertainment front has it that the countries are getting some of the West's most refined tourist traps, the better to enhance the region's cosmopolitan flavor. Charming.
China is getting a new Hard Rock Cafe, to be attached to Macau's existing Hard Rock Hotel and its casino. This will be the second Hard Rock in China, presumably part of our plan to bankrupt the Chinese by tricking them into buying overpriced plates of fries. That's assuming that the people who dine at the establishment will be local, and that they'll also be the ones purchasing merchandise from the shops and gambling in the casino. If it's American tourists doing that, it won't do much good for our currency imbalance at all. More the opposite.

Hollywood To Get Another Wacky And Original Wax Museum

How many times have you walked down Hollywood Boulevard and thought to yourself "you know, this place is classy and all, but what it could really use is another shticky tourist attraction filled with zany wax figures." If you've mused thusly - and we've lost count of how many times we have - then Madame Tussauds Wax Museum is here to help. The international wax museum chain, which has locations sprinkled from Shanghai to London, is finally opening a Hollywood location. Doors are scheduled to open on August 1.
The new $55 million museum will sit next to the Grauman's Theatre, along the Walk of Fame and it should not be confused with the already established, Hollywood Wax Museum. Arriving guests walk in on a red carpet and will be greeted by a wax Joan Rivers rasping something about their clothes. Any guests who get past that part will eventually rewarded with a Jamie Foxx wax figure, one of many that are spread over 3 floors and 18 themed zones. Magic.

Wax Museum Travel: Hitler in Berlin, Take Two
A couple of months ago we told the tale of Hitler losing his head: A wax version of Hitler, at least, who was beheaded by a tourist very shortly after he was first exhibited in Berlin's Madame Tussaud's Waxworks.
The wax Hitler has now been carefully repaired and is on display again. There's a key difference this time: instead of being protected just by a rope cordon, Hitler is now safely behind a pane of glass in a reconstruction of the bunker where he spent his final days.
News of Hitler's return is suspiciously absent from the German-language "News" pages of the Berlin Madame Tussaud's website--instead there's just old news about J-Lo. We guess she's more of a priority these days.
