Inside The Crystals, America's Newest Luxury Shopping Mall

December 18, 2009 at 3:04 PM | by | Comments (0)

It was a big week for Vegas this week with the opening of final component of the massive CityCenter, the Aria Resort and Casino.

The new playground cost MGM Mirage and Dubai World $9 billion to build but it does not disappoint. Aside from the three hotels--Aria, Vdara and the Mandarin Oriental--CityCenter is also home to the luxury shopping complex, The Crystals. Designed by Daniel Libeskind and with interiors by the Rockwell Group, The Crystals will be the new home for luxury designers in Las Vegas.

Not all the space is filled yet (more stores will open later this year) but you can currently shop at the massive Louis Vuitton store (the largest in North America), Tom Ford (his first West Coast shop), Mikimoto and Tiffany, amongst a few others.

Word is, each store will sell something that can only be found in the Las Vegas store, not elsewhere. (We didn't find out what that is at LV but that's the word on the Strip.)

You can also party here at the Beso restaurant from Eva Longoria Parker and its upstairs nightclub, Eve.

While The Crystals is not one of the most shocking malls out there, it is pretty spectacular for America.

JetBlue's Sample Sale Will Fly You To Vegas for $24

September 28, 2009 at 4:36 PM | by | Comments (0)

While JetBlue finally began service out of LAX at the start of the summer, it still pays to fly out of Long Beach. Travelzoo alerted us to a one-day only JetBlue "sample sale" from Long Beach to Vegas for $24 outbound and $29 for the return. The sale is good for Tuesday and Wednesday flights from October 6 to December 16 but you must book by tonight at 11:59pm MDT. Also included in the sale? One way tickets out of Vegas to New York or Boston for $99 a piece.

Speaking of Las Vegas and JetBlue, recently ousted star of "Jersey Boys" at The Palazzo, Erich Bergen, was Twittering from the JFK JetBlue terminal this morning. Now that's he's out of a job, he just may move into the terminal because it has Borders, Jamba Juice, Lacoste and free WiFi. And so much more. But sorry, no stage yet.

Polish Your Pigskin For Las Vegas' Fantasy Super Draft

August 12, 2009 at 4:13 PM | by | Comments (0)

Football season is rapidly approaching, and with it the fantasy leagues that have become kind of a thing. In recent years, even fantasy draft days have become elaborate, with leagues going off to random cities for a weekend of sports and debauchery. Sensing a market opportunity, a new event called Las Vegas Fantasy Super Draft has entered the scene to host an entire draft weekend August 27-30.

They're not in the business of actually conducting your draft or hosting the software for it: you still have to schedule that through CBSSports.com, ESPN.com, Yahoo.com, and the like. What they will do is provide you with facilities for the draft, parties to attend, women to look at (former cheerleaders were specifically emphasized in the FAQ), and VIP access to Vegas clubs.

The M's Sportsbook Will Take Your Mobile March Madness Bets

Where: 12300 Las Vegas Blvd South [map], Las Vegas, NV, United States, 89044
March 19, 2009 at 12:18 PM | by | Comments (0)

While it might be hard to justify staying away from the action of the Strip in Las Vegas, the just-opened M Resort (about 15 minutes from the Strip) boasts a mobile gaming network.

This means that you can play games like slots, blackjack, roulette, baccarat and poker on mobile hand-held devices throughout the resort. Also now that March Madness is here, you can watch your bracket picks win or lose in the hotel's sportsbook all the while gambling to (hopefully) raise more funds for those sports bets.
