The Palm Will Open Its First Airport Location in T4 at JFK

In news that is sure to make your next layover at T4 within JFK (home to Virgin America and Emirates flights) a little more savory, The Palm Bar and Grille, from The Palm steak house restaurants is expected to open later this year.
Founded on Second Avenue in New York City by Pio Bozzi and John Ganzi in 1926, The Palm has grown to be the oldest family-owned white tablecloth restaurant to expand across the United States. Characterized as the place "to see and be seen, The Palm is known for its hospitality, huge portions, and caricature adorned walls.
In its first airport incarnation, The Palm Bar and Grille will serve prime cuts of meat along with their top Italian and seafood dishes.
T4 will also get a few more dining options like the Seafood Bar by Caviar House & Prunier (That's right, a caviar bar!), a healthy pizza shop, Zpizza; two new sit-down restaurants, Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar and Tigin Irish Pub & Restaurant; two new bakeries, Upper Crust and Panopolis; and in the fast-food department, a Panda Express.
Lastly, East Coasters can celebrate their love of Peet's Coffee throughout Terminal 4 as several locations are expected to open up here. With all these new options in addition to the old ones (like the Xpress Spas, Kosher vending machines and the bird-watching), we should have no problem killing the average three-hour dwell time in T4.

On The Lighter Side with Ebisu
You've already bought your ticket to get in here, so why feel excluded all over again? SFO's Ebisu draws lines around the block for dinner in the city, but a recent visit revealed no line in the Terminal G food court for its noodles and sushi.
Actually, the San Francisco airport is the only place where you could get Ebisu for a while. Named for the Japanese god of fishermen and good luck, Ebisu's current location on 9th Avenue was closed for the last two months of 2008 for renovation, which means no oysters with ginger and no sweet shrimp on the tables. And even an over-order of sushi goes down easier than the usual greasy airport fare.

Belly Up At Newark Airport's Gallagher's
Newsstand snacks are for kids! Before your next long-haul flight, enjoy a meal that will take the entire journey to digest. At least, that's what we think the impetus was for New York steakhouse Gallagher's to open up an outpost in the Continental terminal of Newark-Liberty International Airport.
Stagger to your gate after some prime rib with a side of creamed spinach or attack the "chilled medley of seafood" (serves 4-6, or one college student on his way home from a semester abroad). Opened in 2002, Gallagher's doesn't take any leaps in the decor of its Terminal C outpost -- checkered cloths and black and white photos abound. But that angle might actually be comforting after a culinarily adventurous trip.
"For airport food it was GREAT!" raves (sort of) a Yelp commenter, but a Bonaire message-board wag faults the joint for closing earlier than posted hours. But if you can get there when it's open, sounds like you'll walk away satisfied.

Todd English's Bonfire Sets Logan Ablaze
No one's going to fault Boston's Logan International Airport for being too flashy; the whole place exudes a comfortable shabbiness akin to an aunt's living room. Chef Todd English must have flown through there one too many times when he decided to put a steakhouse there, but is it more prime rib or Salisbury steak?
Located through security in terminal B near the American Airlines gates, Bonfire is the namesake of English's well regarded Back Bay restaurant attached to the Park Plaza Hotel. English started his career with Olives in nearby Charlestown and is Eva Longoria's partner in Beso, her Mexican-American restaurant in Los Angeles.
Beyond the audacity of putting a steakhouse in what's normally the plastic-knife zone, Bonfire's reviews are definitely mixed, with one Yelper asking: "Why would you purchase a large space at the airport and then fill it with such terrible food, Todd?" Still, Bonfire was successful enough that English opened another location at New York's JFK Airport in Terminal 7 (the United terminal) last fall.
Have you eaten at either of these fancy flight fooderies? We'd love to know your review.
