Tyler MacNiven and His Mom Will Be Waiting For You at the Competitours Finish Line
This week, we were lucky enough to catch up with Tyler MacNiven, one half of the Amazing Race 9 winning "hippie" duo. He'll be competing with his mom on the upcoming Competitours experience this summer. If you want a shot at dethroning this AR champ, here's your chance - but you are going to have to bring it!
He's still very much the same guy we came to know and love on the Race: smart, affable and quirky. Since winning his season of Amazing Race with teammate B.J. Averell, he's pursued filmmaking and continued to travel the world, including visits to Iran, Mongolia and Paris, just to name a few. In Iran, he attempted to run the entire 1,000 mile length of the country, but was busted and kicked-out after only 100 miles. You can check out his take on the experience here.

Amazing Race Winners: The Tale of Two Tylers

According to the comments on tech gossip site Valleywag, Tyler, of James and Tyler is the son of Buck's Cafe owner Jamis MacNiven.
Not true. Why is this important? Two reasons.
First, Valleywag has the wrong Tyler. Tyler MacNiven, not Tyler Denk is the son of the Buck's of Woodside owner. Tyler Denk, was one of the winners of Amazing Race 10, while Tyler MacNiven was part of the hippie duo that won Amazing Race 9. They are both pictured semi-nude above, we will let y'all figure out who's who.
Second, the son of the Buck's Cafe owner doesn't need the one million dollar Amazing Race prize. Tyler Mac's dad has most definitely got in on plenty of friend's and family pre-ipo shares--from Google to EBay, we are guessing. On the contrary, Tyler Denk, the real recovering drug addict, most definitely could use the cash. According to the internets, Tyler Denk was homeless and extremely poor when he was "discovered" by a photographer and became a male model.
As for Buck's Cafe, the Woodside venture capitalist haunt is definitely Jaunted post worthy, but you will have to wait on that one, after all, we think you will agree, setting the record straight on the Amazing Race Tylers is far more important than what Bill Gurley eats for breakfast.
Update: Just in case you are still confused about the Tylers, we posted a photo of hippie Tyler MacNiven dressed up like a geshia here. Clear now? Good.
