Escape Cloudy Europe With SunExpress
You're moping around on another cloudy day in some German-speaking country and then it hits you: You want to dump your Danube cruise plans and head to the sunshine. In comes low-cost carrier SunExpress to save the day. Based in Antalya, Turkey, SunExpress shuttles passengers between all corners of Germany, Switzerland and Austria to various destinations in sunny Turkey. The airline actually developed out of a deal between German carrier Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines.
So how much does it cost to get your sunshine, fast? Some one-way fares get as low as 29 (US$40), although if you hunt around on different routes you'll see a lot of flights cost around 99 ($140), which is still pretty reasonable considering the relatively long distances.
Quick warning: Though the name sounds like it promises sunshine-in-a-hurry, a disappointed passenger snapped the picture above when he arrived to conditions more dreary than the place he was escaping. Like with any tropical destination, check the weather before booking a last-minute getaway.

Hey Hey, Cripple Creek Ferry

Istanbul! Bridge between East and West! Home to extremely thick coffee! City from whence you'd better not try to smuggle hashish! And also the subject of some great photography.
Elif Ayse's photostream on Flickr of the Turkish burg is just stunning. And authentic--all the titles and comments are in Turkish. Anyway, we like this pic of the ferry, which is working cool light/seagull/public transportation trifecta in terms of photos that grab our attention. Only shiny objects can distract us now.
