The Olympic Torch arrived at Vancouver City Hall on Thursday. It rained, the cherry trees blossomed, red lanterns signified the Chinese New Year, and the crowds were large and polite -- so we had a thoroughly “Vancouver” event!

Jaunted Winter Olympics Embed: Vancouver Is Fired Up Over The Torch Arrival

Vancouver is getting ready to go absolutely crazy! The Olympic torch is nearing downtown, zig-zagging the neighborhoods in ever-decreasing circles to bring the flame to the Opening Ceremonies that start at 6 pm (PST) on Friday, February 12th at BC Place—that's tomorrow!

A tightly guarded rumour has it that the Olympic flame will also be lit in a cauldron (still shrouded under white tarp) west of the Convention Centre (the Olympic Media Centre) at the Jack Poole Plaza, which was named as a tribute to the Vancouver Organizing Committee’s (VANOC) founding chairman who passed away in October, the day after the flame was lit in Greece.

Jaunted Winter Olympics Embed: Vancouver's Downtown Zipline is Free

Vancouver is really buzzing now with new country-or sponsor-specific pavilions popping up by the hour. You blink and the entire landscape has changed by the time you open your eyes!

One of the most exciting free things to do during the Olympics downtown at Robson Square is the zip line by Ziptrek Ecotours that is now ready although not yet open to the public.

You climb up a four-storey high tower on the Law Court side, harness yourself into a sling, clip yourself into a line, and jump off the ledge. You zoom diagonally over Robson Square’s free public skating rink and across Robson Street. You land on Howe Street, next to the Art Gallery. There are two of the 170-meter-long wires, so two people can zip at a time.
