The Florentine Vending Machine That Will Cover You Up For Church

It may not be much of an issue in winter, but in summer, in Italy, if you’re doing cultural stuff, you need to watch how you dress.
You probably already know that most Italian churches demand that shoulders and knees should be covered when you enter, and you also probably know that most of the major churches will vehemently enforce that.
But what we didn’t know until this week was that there’s an alternative to buying an overpriced shawl from an entrepreneur standing near the dooror, at least, there is in Florence.

What's in Your Carry-on, Juliana Shallcross?

Travel voyeurs, every last one of us! It's time for a new series wherein you show off what you're working with. That is, what necessities make it into your carry-on bag. Want to be featured? It's crazy simple. Shoot us an email with a nice big photo of your bag contents and a little bit about why they have pride of place in your carry-on. And of course include your Twitter handle if you so desire.
Next up in the series after peeking into the bags of illustrious travelers, we've got yet another: Juliana Shallcross, Editor of our sister site HotelChatter.com:
This is what was in my carry-on from a recent 24-hour trip to Vegas, a trip that I make pretty frequently. Actually, this is my "personal bag" (a Gucci tote from 2005) as defined by the TSA. The rest of my stuff is in a green Kipling carry-on suitcase and includes my Macbook, power cords, two pairs of shoes, two outfits (one fancy for meetings and one casual for the trip home), a long-sleeve shirt and pants to sleep in (because hotel rooms are always so darn cold) and my TSA-approved sized toiletries in a TSA-approved plastic baggie.
But while those things are important, here's what I like to have near me during the flight and once I land in Vegas:
· Lip stuff. Check it, there are three things of lip stuff there. I cannot stand having dry lips and Vegas is dry lip city.
· Visine. For some reason, I am guessing again it's because of the dryness, my contacts always act up in Vegas. So Visine is necessary but I also pack my glasses for back-up (in the black case.)

· Hanes Undershirts - Because "you can’t beat the value" (so says Michael Jordan)
· 1950’s Shades - Because the future of the online media is so bright…you know the rest
· C3 Metrics business cards - Because there’s no second chance for a first impression
· Yoga workout clothes - Because it kills any other workout and I can do it in a hotel room

Next up in the series after peeking into the bags of illustrious travelers, we've got yet another: Chris Wang of Pictouring.
In October 2010, I set out to travel the world for a year. I packed as little as I could without sacrificing safety, and over the course of my travels I ended up in places that ranged from -40F in the winter (Mongolia) to 120F in the summer (India). Everything worked out. I bought extra layers really cheaplyusually around $25 for a thick jacketand donated them when I no longer needed them.
Everything fits into a carry-on sized backpack and weighs ~25lbs, including the camera, which alone weighs 6.5 lbs.

Next up in the series after peeking into the bags of Max Graham, Annemarie Dooling, Megan Starr, The Points Guy and Jillian Smith, we've got Peter Shankman, a Small Business Evangelist/Angel Investor/Speaker/Consultant and an insanely frequent flyer:
Everything I carry for travel fits into my ScotteVest jacket. I sit on the board of ScotteVest and do own a stake in their company, so I'm making that clear up front. That said, though, I love, love, love my vest; it acts as another carry-on for me, and means that I don't have to carry a backpack.
So, staring at everything in it from above, on the left, we have:
· Band-aids on the sleeve. They fit into the sleeve pocket. You never know when you're going to need a band-aid. (Especially from someone who picks at his cuticles when he's nervous or stressed).

Dita Von Teese Doesn't Leave Home Without Her Specially Designed Cocktail Bar
Would you travel with an entire mini cocktail bar? Perhaps we should add "if you could" since we all know the carry-on liquid allowances by now and ain't nobody checking a delicate alcohol-and-glasses set worth hundreds of dollars (no set price has been publicized yet). Regardless, Dita Von Teeselong one of our absolute favorite consistent jetsettershas released a hatbox coffret that transforms into a bar, specifically made for indulging in Cointreau cocktails while on the go.
We're drooling at the thought of popping this open in a compartment of the Orient-Express or in a cabin on a Cunard ship, but the fact remains that these days, it's damn difficult to travel with anything but the well-packed necessities. That is, unless you have assistants.

If I'm going to be away for a week or less, I rely on my Filson wheeled carry-on. It holds everything and still manages to make me feel like the chicest traveler in the airport (or train station.)
I'm always with at least one laptop, usually a Mac and a PC, and though I work in the digital division, I'll use any computer until its last breath, and then some. This VAIO has been rebuilt a few times, but I just won't let it go.
The mask is from the NYC immersive experience "Sleep No More," which I finally checked out last week after my photog friend, Travis Commeau, and celeb blogger buddy, Trent Venagas, had seen it multiple times with rave reviews. I hear Punchdrunk, the producers, are toying with a travel experience. I'm in!

Third up in the series after peeking into the bags of we Max Graham and Annemarie Dooling, is expat Megan Starr:
Winter accessories: I am a new expat to Norway and if there is one thing I have learned since relocating here, it is that one can always assume the inside of the plane will reflect the temperature outside...and in my part of the world, that means it will be frigid! A scarf and gloves are always a necessity when traveling around Scandinavia (and a scarf can also transition to a pillow, which is a double bonus!)

As a Community Editor for Travel and Culture, I am always on the lookout for things to write about, so I make sure I have my camera in my carry-on, as well as my iPhone charger so I can juice-up whenever I need to. I carry an abnormal amount of USB sticks on a keyring because I tend to fill them up fast.

What's In Your Carry-on, DJ Max Graham?

Kicking off the series is British-Canadian DJ Max Graham. Some things in his bag everyone will carry, while some are unique to DJs:
· USB Sticks: The days of heavy vinyl record bags are over. It's common for DJs in 2011 to carry music on USB sticks; I always have two extras kicking around my bag in case the main ones fail.
· Tylenol: Djing until late usually means a few drinks and then straight to the airport and onto the next gig. Tylenol is a must for any DJ's bag.
· Tabasco and/or HP sauce: Plane food can get pretty bland. Even the best dish needs livening up after you’ve eaten it more than a few times. I travel with Tabasco and English HP sauce and more than once have had my Tabasco passed around Business Class.
