Awesome Contest Alert: Win a $95,000 Space Flight from KLM
On April 22, KLM will launch a high-altitude balloon from the Nevada desert. It's all Felix Baumgartner-style, but instead of a capsule containing a person, the balloon will instead lift a capsule containing a ticket to space...to be won by you.
Enter to win on their official site, but give yourself a couple minutes to complete the process. Just as with space flight, it's not as simple as it seems.
First, there's a snazzy intro animation to the entire project, after which you must predict the max height the balloon will reach and how far it will travel from its launch point. We just did it, and there's no point in keeping your choice a secret since each altitude & drift combination is unique. As in, no one else can choose your same altitude & drift guess. If the balloon comes closest to that bit of space you've virtually claimed, then you win the Grand Prize of a flight to space on the SXC Lynx, a trip worth $95,000.

Upload a Facebook Photo to Win Two Tickets to Anywhere Delta Flies
"Win 2 round-trip tickets to anywhere Delta flies."
When an international airline says that about a contest, it's time to pay attention.
Just in time to alleviate early spring cabin fever, Delta is running a contest called "Picture This!" and the theme is skylines. The best skyline photo gets those two roundtrip tickets. Easy, right? Kinda of, since the contest is run through their Facebook page and there are rules by which to abide.

Travel Contest Alert: Pack Your Posse Off to Palm Springs on Virgin America's New Non-stop
This time of the year is simply the best time of the year. Why? Because of seasonal routes, that's why! Airlines take advantage of the dreary winter weather to open up some exotic, fun-in-the-sun destinations for a limited time. There's always the Caribbean or Mexico, but the last couple years we've been kinda in love with the idea of the heading into the US desert for that needed dose of Vitamin Sunshine.
And, for the second year, Virgin America will the answer the prayers of SFers and NYers by jetting directly into Palm Springs Airport (PSP). Well, actually they already started the flights from San Francisco back in October. The big news right now is that they'll be launching the first non-stop flight from the New York area to Palm Springs this Saturday.

Dream Job Alert! Finnair Wants 'Quality Hunters' to Fly Around the World
Does your job suck? Or maybe you just know there's something out there that's better for you. Or maybe you don't have a job at all. Whichever reason it is, let it get you motivated to enter Finnair's new contest, Top Quality Hunter.
The airline is looking to hire not one, but four people to act as "quality hunters," blogging as much as they're flying across Europe, the United States and Asia. Here's the idea of it:
The Quality Hunters' mission will be to travel to cities in Europe, Asia and the US throughout October and November, assessing flights, airports and destinations. As independent advisors to Finnair, they are expected to communicate their impartial views and recommendations to the company on a regular basis throughout the two-month period. In addition, the Quality Hunters will share their thoughts and adventures with the public through personal blogs.
