Travel Cat of the Year 2012 is...

It's that time of the year again, the time when the year just plain ends. Alas, we can't just let 2012 go that easily, especially since travelers spent it both up in the air and up in arms over a crazy range of topics. Needless to say, we're ready for 2013, but first we're taking a brief look back at the best of 2012 with the Jaunted Travel Awards,—or as we fondly refer to them—The Jauntys.

In only a few more months we'll already be marking the one year anniversary of our Travel Cat series and, while it's not exactly hard-hitting journalism, it is fun for everyone. What's more is that we can now safely declare Turkey as Travel Cat capital of the world, since that country's fluffy strays claimed six Travel Cat features in 2012, far more than any other destination.

Travel Cat spotted at: on a street and a dive boat in Guatemala.

This week's Travel Cat comes from Instagrammer @scooterkat, who noticed not one, but two, Travel Cats chillin' in Guatemala. One was just hanging out on a colorful street while the other was getting some sun and fresh air onboard a dive boat. If you ask us, a kitty should come standard with any dive excursion, if only to stick around for possible minnow nibbles.
