Pure Greek Nightclub Decadence at Akrotiri

Where: B5 Vassileos Georgiou Street, Aghios Kosmas, Greece
February 13, 2009 at 4:01 PM | by Omri | 0 Comments

One of the hottest nightclubs in Athens isn't so much "in" Athens as it is a 20 Euro cab ride from the center of the city.

Akrotiri - opened in 2008 in nearby Aghios Kosmas - is where the young, beautiful, and occasionally famous of Greece's glitterati come out to see and be seen. The parking lot is filled with polished BMWs and the rope line is overflowing with tall, busty blondes.

It's not the least expensive place to dance away the night. But if you're looking for an evening of out-and-out degeneracy you'd be hard-pressed to do better.

Watch The Derby Dolls, Then Take the Work-Out Class

Where: 1910 W. Temple St. [map], Los Angeles, CA, United States, 90026
February 10, 2009 at 3:56 PM | by EricRosen | 0 Comments

Admit it. Nothing gets you more pumped up than seeing a bunch of chicks on skates pummel the crap out of each other. Get your fix by taking in an all-girl roller derby match at the "Doll Factory" rink on Saturday, February 28th. One of L.A.’s best teams of Derby Dolls, the Varsity Brawlers, will be taking on the San Diego chapter, ominously known as The Swarm. The “bout,” as it’s called, will start at 7:45pm, but get there when the doors open at six so you can get a front-row seat to the blood-spilling, bone-crunching action.

Learning How to Pole Dance in Las Vegas

February 3, 2009 at 5:01 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

HotelChatter editor and Jaunted contributor Juliana recently visited Las Vegas and decided to do as the Las Vegas folk do: Strip.

Last week I took a field trip to Las Vegas where I checked out some of the renovated hotel rooms on the Strip. But I also had a secret side mission. I was trying to track down stripper poles that didn't require me to actually get up in front of a gaggle of men and strip down to my granny panties as Motley Crue played in the background.

While several nightclubs have stripper poles (for females only) like Tryst at The Wynn and Christian Audiger at Treasure Island, I found a place where I could really concentrate on my pole-dancing skills: Stripper 101 at the V Theater inside Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.

Off-the-Beaten-Track Wine Farms Near Cape Town

February 3, 2009 at 2:13 PM | by femmefatale | 0 Comments

Monica Guy is joining us again this week to tell us what more there is to do in South Africa. Enjoy.

Yesterday we told you about the South African Brandy tastings that you must experience when you make the trip to South Africa. But we can't forget about wine tours, can we? At the top of our list of Things To Do Around Cape Town still remains a tour of the wine farms in Stellenbosch and Constantia.

Did we say wine farms? We meant tourist farms. The two dozen or so farms who are fully kitted out for international visitors with industrial tasting rooms, restaurants that could feed the whole of Africa, international shipping options and marked up wine prices.

Okay, we take it back. Some of these places are pretty gorgeous – colonial-style white houses overflowing with summer roses and surrounded by fields of vines. Here's a few that you should stop by and see.

How To Break the Pattern of Vegas Debauchery

Where: 333 S. Valley View Blvd. [map], Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, 89107
January 30, 2009 at 10:43 AM | by Erika Pope | 0 Comments

If it were in any other city in the Western Hemisphere, Las Vegas’ Springs Preserve, which debuted in 2006, would be no secret.

In the midst of an apparent global emergency around the subject of climate change, a well-designed, nearly new recreational and educational facility dedicated to raising awareness of sustainable living should be hitting it out of the park.

But this is Las Vegas. To date, it’s not uncommon to run into locals who still haven’t heard of the Preserve and, certainly to its developers, a disappointingly tiny number of tourists have seemed willing to drag themselves away from Vegas’ more sinful offerings.

Perth Gives Us Another Aussie Ferris Wheel Story

Where: Esplanade, Perth, Western Australia, Australia, 6000
January 29, 2009 at 11:45 AM | by amandak | 0 Comments

There’s an odd epidemic sweeping Australia at the moment: giant ferris wheels are springing up in nearly all its capital cities. Melbourne seemed to start the trend, with Adelaide and Sydney getting in on the ferris wheel act in recent months too.

Now Perth has planted its own (not quite so big) ferris wheel on the Swan River foreshore in front of the city center. The Wheel of Perth is in a scenic spot, for sure, but whether you actually get an interesting ride out of it is open to debate.

Plenty of locals have suggested the A$15 ($10) price tag for a maximum ride time of 15 minutes is a bit steep. And you get similar views over Perth city for free from nearby Kings Park. If you ask us, this wheel seems like nothing more than keeping up with the Joneses.
