Newest Travel Challenge Show 'Expedition Impossible' Premieres Tonight on ABC
What're you up to tonight, hm? *wink wink*
Maybe just possibly you'll be cozying up to the TV screen to catch the premiere of the latest travel-related show to hit the networks: ABC's Expedition Impossible. At 9pm EST this evening, the new show from Executive Producer Mark Burnett (he of Survivor producing fame) will kick off as 13 teams of 3 race around exotic locales and complete taxing challenges, all for the glory of taking home a grand prize of $50,000 and a Ford Explorer at the end of the series. It's kind of like Survivor meets The Amazing Race, with a much smaller payout.
Tonight's challenge? Well, we can't give away all the details, but do note that it will be surrounded by the beauty of Morocco. If you'd like to be fully prepped for the premiere, ABC has two segments online of interviews introducing each team competing. Check them out here and here.
You know us; we're all for new travel TV shows so rest assured we'll be watching tonight, and stay tuned for a full recap of the action tomorrow!

Move Over, 'Amazing Race!' Foursquare is Working on a Reality Travel Show, Too
We're just going to go right ahead and say it: The Amazing Race fails to thrill us much anymore. Sure, we'll always watch it and recap it, but damnit, it's about time a new, challenging world travel show popped up. Funny we should say that because there's something possibly very exciting in the works right now, and it involves location-based social media network Foursquare.
According to Variety, "Endemol is still mulling an exact format for the Foursquare show -- but the show seems likely to have an "Amazing Race"-style competitive element, in which participants travel to various sites." Yessss, please. We know many original early adapters of Foursquare have cut back on their checking in or given it up altogether to move on to the next "next" thing, but something that truly engages a usersuch as directly interacting with a TV program of Amazing Race-energy and explorationcould regain old users just as much as it would attract new ones.

Ex-IBM Employees Can Rebuild Karma In India
Computing giant IBM is poised to cut about 5,000 jobs in North America according to company memo leaks. But internal sources claim the jobs aren't really being cut -- just shifted to India in a continuing effort to slice costs, although the company won't publicly confirm that strategy. We suggest IBM employees facing a "reduction in force" respond by invading India. Just kidding! Maybe just a visit:
Blue City -- Country Walkers' tour of Rajasthan, the northwestern state where Jaipur is located, features tours of cities like Jodhpur which is in fact known as the Blue City. (Jaipur is the Pink City -- fair's fair!)
Bharatanatyam -- Continental flies to many major cities in India, perhaps even carrying the trainers for IBM"s next brain trust. And where better to get your first taste of Indian classical dance than Chennai, a cultural capital and the home of 2009 Best Song and Best Score winner A.R. Rahman.
Barefooted -- You might have to travel through Britain to get the best deal, but we've always been fascinated by Indians' favorite beach vacation spot on the west coast.

2008 Emmys Travel: Fey's Funny, "Race" Wins Again
What, no beehive and glasses? Fresh off her turn as Sarah Palin on "SNL," Tina Fey walks the red carpet before the Emmy Awards ceremony last night in Los Angeles. Fey's series "30 Rock" walked away with best comedy and she and costar Alec Baldwin took home statues for best lead actress and actor, respectively.
Other big winners of the night: "John Adams" (Best Miniseries), which takes place in Revolutionary-era New England, and the New York-set "Mad Men" (Best Drama) for its portrait of the '60s. And Jaunted obsession "The Amazing Race" scooped up its sixth consecutive reality-competition prize.
Biggest losers: All the television shows whose themes Josh Groban mangled, medley-style.
