Act Fast on Airbnb, and You Might Score an Overnight in Conan O'Brien's Burbank Studio

June 1, 2015 at 2:05 PM | by | ()

Conan O'Brien has recently listed the most coveted space in Burbank on airbnb.

Conan is giving one lucky fan and a friend the chance to spend the night of June 3 in the rafters of the Warner Brothers studio where he films his late night talk show. The cost? Just one killer essay explaining "why on earth you'd want to spend five minutes in our rafters, much less a whole night."

Not only will the lucky winner spend the night in the famous studio, they'll also appear on the show. "Conan will talk to you during a real show," the listing states. "So viewers will see you that night on their TVs, and millennials will see you the next day on their infernal devices."

Check out all of the rules and enter your essay here at airbnb.com. But hurry! Submissions will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. CT on June 1. Yes, today. Get writing.

Live From New York: It's 'Saturday Night Live: The Exhibition'!

May 18, 2015 at 12:26 PM | by | ()

Cue the “Weekend Update” music, because we have some breaking news to report: “Saturday Night Live” is about to open a museum-style exhibition, and it’s going to rock your (Wayne’s) world.

Opening on May 30 at New York City's Premier Exhibition 5th Avenue — a fancy new state-of-the-art events space — and coinciding with the iconic TV series’ 40th anniversary, “Saturday Night Live: The Exhibition” basically sounds like a mini-Smithsonian dedicated to all things related to the show. And honestly, SNL kind of deserves that. The show is basically an American institution at this point. We forgive the lackluster seasons because every week, it plugs our finger into a socket of kinetic NYC energy. (“Saturday Night Live” might be the most successful accidental tourism campaign, like, ever.) And even the lame episodes become entertaining as reruns, when they take on the air of nostalgia – like televised yearbooks reminding us of the news events, pop culture chatter, and god-awful hairstyles of bygone eras.

The two—the newspaper and the channel—are teaming up to bring the popular 36 Hours series to your screen, and they’re doing so with hosts Kristen Kish and Kyle Martino. They’re of Top Chef and USA Soccer fame, respectively, and we’re sure they’ll do a great job.

Right now there are six episodes that have been given the go-for-launch treatment, and the hosts will have—you guessed it—36 hours to check out foodie hotspots, hobnob with the locals, and check out the latest and greatest each city has to offer. The newspaper folks will work behind the scenes to provide some insight as well, as they’ll be passing notes regarding their expertise—a quick search of Yelp this is not

Scheming and Sightseeing With the 'House Of Cards' Tour Of Baltimore

March 6, 2015 at 12:56 PM | by | ()

House of Cards might be set in the high stakes world of Washington D.C., but the series is actually filmed on location in Baltimore. Here's a look at where you can eat, stay, and be entertained in Frank and Claire's world.

Where to Eat:

During the first and second season of House of Cards Frank frequented Freddy’s BBQ Rib Joint but, unfortunately, Freddy's doesn't really exist. So, if you're in Baltimore and want some authentic BBQ Chaps Pit Beef is the next best thing.

If you want to check out another HOC hotspot, try Werner’s in downtown Baltimore. This diner was featured in the first season and the third season as one of Doug's many meeting places.

Why HBO's Sunday Night Line-Up is The Most Travel-Inspiring Night on TV

January 16, 2015 at 2:17 PM | by | ()

With the return of Girls, Looking, and the debut of Togetherness, Sunday night on HBO has become the most travel-inspiring night on TV.

Each show perfectly captures the city in which it is set, for Girls, that means Brooklyn, for Looking its San Francisco, and now, Togetherness is showing us a new side of L.A.

Hannah might be moving to Iowa on the show but, in reality, she never leaves Brooklyn. A few of the new locations to look out for in season four of Girls include Brooklyn's Ditmas Park neighborhood, which is playing Iowa on the show, to the dismay of locals.

Another location that is new for this season is The Gutter in Williamsburg. According to Bustle, the cast and crew spent two days filming at the Brooklyn bowling alley last summer.
