A Super World Traveler Goes Solo to Appreciate Art Basel
Where in the world will Brad Pitt turn up today? That is the burning question on the minds of envious travelers like us this morning.
On Monday, Brad was spotted at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. where Angie is currently filming the thriller Salt. DAR Constitution Hall has welcomed performers ranging from Aerosmith to Duke Ellington over the course of its 80 year history. You can check out their schedule for information about upcoming events.
Yesterday, Brad took a rare solo trip to check out the international art show Art 40 Basel, in Basel, Switzerland. At the exhibit, he seemed particularly interested in a 24k gold Piece entitled End of Knowledge.
Art 40 Basel is taking place through June 14th. Considered the world’s premier international art show for modern and contemporary works, “Art Basel features nearly 300 leading galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa.” Artists represented at the show include both the great masters of modern art and upcoming artists who are creating some of today’s most innovative paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs and installations. Art 40 Basel’s website features a full catalog of the artists represented in the show as well as ticket information.

Beware of Bessie

Danger! Swiss Cows approaching! After a turbulent summer, apparently filled with hiker/cow violence, the Swiss Hiking Federation posted new rules warning hikers to keep their distance from the bovines. New farming techniques, which tend to isolate the cows from human interaction more than ever before, have led to problems.
According to the Federation, here's what to do if you see a cow while hiking the Alpine byways:
Leave the animals in peace and do not touch them. Never caress a calf. Do not scare the animals or look them directly in the eye. Do not wave sticks. Give a precise blow to the muzzle of the cow in the event of absolute need. We're serious--and don't even think of trying to milk them.

Orlando and Kate Live the High Life in Geneva

We hear on-again, off-again sexier-than-thou couple Orlando Bloom and Kate Bosworth are quite on-again, and living well during a quick trip to Geneva. The two attended a '40s-inspired bash thrown by Swiss watchmaker IWC at an aircraft hangar at the city's airport. Apparently Kate had such a good time, she needed a little help from Orlando standing upright and getting home.
In the spirit of all things fun and, erm, Swiss, we offer some cool places to celebrate, Geneva-style.
Where To Stay:
Domaine de Chateauvieux. Not made of money like everyone else in Geneva? Or looking for a little privacy a la Kate and Orlando? Check into this cozy former chateau and enjoy the view of rolling vineyards out your window. With just 12 rooms, you can be sure that your visit will be intimate; spend time strolling the maze-like hedge garden and smelling the freshly grown mint and thyme. If your nose prefers stinkier things, splurge on a Cuban in the main house's official smoking room. Just don't forget your smoking jacket.
Where To Eat:
Le Bearn. The place to see and be seen, something tells us Kate and Orlando should have made a stop here. Crawling with international financiers, the focus is on French provincial food and award-winning wines. Keep an eye out for diplomats; it won't be hard, as there are only 12 tables. Reservations (or a black passport) are a must.
What to See:
Musee Automobiles Motos y Cycles. Sure, you could be like everyone else and check out the original UN Building, but stay Legolas-style and head to the Automobile and Cycle Museum to see over 120 vintage cars and bikes.
