How to Win a Free Road Trip through Sweden in a Volvo
If you want to plan your own road trip across West Sweden, there's someone willing to foot the bill. Volvo and West Sweden's tourism bureau are offering a contest that will pay for your trek across the Scandinavian country, and anyone is free to enter.
The thing is, you can't choose whatever pops into your head for the design-it-yourself trip's itinerary. Instead, you're provided with a list of activities from which to choose. For example, you could take in the art at the Nordic Watercolour Museum on the island of Tjörn, go on a lobster safari to catch the creatures and help cook them for your dinner at a hotel on Flaton island, dine on elk or beaver at Falktholts Gestgiveri in Dalsland, or go golfing at a number of courses.

Wedding Travel: Hooking up with Your Favorite Tourist Attraction
We definitely have a few favorite spots to visit around the world, but Swedish woman Eija-Riitta Berliner-Mauer has really put the attraction back in "tourist attraction." Her surname, of course, means "Berlin Wall" and she's taken this surname because she is, in fact, married to the Berlin Wall.
Confused? So were we. But Mrs. Berliner-Mauer has a condition known as Objectum-Sexuality--which means she's attracted to non-living objects, in her case, walls and fences. She had a small ceremony to marry the Berlin Wall back in 1979, and was fairly devastated when most of it came down ten years later.
Now she runs the Model and Guillotine Museum in Sweden which has models of various constructions, including her husband, the Berlin Wall. Her museum's open every afternoon during the summer season from June to August. Just don't expect to be able to buy any of those tacky chunks of Berlin Wall souvenirs--that's like taking a piece of her husband home.

Sweden's Cracked-Out Musical E-Card

First, there were those customizable Snakes on a Plane messages, when the entire universe almost came crashing down due to the unexpected volume of people trying to send them. Could the Swedish tourist board's "Stockholm: the Musical" be next in line for the e-card throne? It's genius and damn well should be.
At stockholmthemusical.com, you can customize a commercial with a friend's name (or nickname--"virgin" is among the options) and "pecularity" (our favorite: "talks only english"). Punch it all in, and out comes a cast of singing and dancing locals, including Mr. Meatball (an anthropomorphic Swedish meatball) and Sven (the every-Swede, clearly). They'll entice you to visit Stockholm by promising they "love to kiss your ass," and, depending on your selected peculiarity, poke fun at you with one wacky skit or another.
We don't even have that many friends but have already made about 50 versions of this thing, just to hear what they sound like and check out all the possible endings.
