Since 1999 the HBO series The Sopranos has defined, for better or for worse, what people think of New Jersey and the Mob. (This week's episode, in which [redacted] got [redacted] by [redacted redacted] and Tony was forced to [redacted], probably fell on the "for worse" side.) Now fans are making pilgrimages to the locations depicted in their favorite exterior shots (the interiors are all shot in Queens), trying to grab one last moment with Tony and the boys before Sunday's series finale.

If you haven't take the Sopranos tour, you still have time; New York City companies are still running Sex and the City and Seinfeld tours, years after those shows ended.

One highlight: The real-life strip club that stands in for the Bada Bing. Or you can just fly through Newark.

Soprano Tours, Ready to Be Mobbed?

March 14, 2006 at 8:45 AM | by | Comments (0)

With the new series of the Sopranos just begun, CNN decided that it was time to visit the tour that will take you to locations used on the HBO show. At four hours and $40, it's a bit of a commitment. You get to check out the pork store, Big Pussy's auto repair shop, as well as the Muffler Man and other places shown in the opening credits. Probably the biggest draw is the Satin Doll strip club, transformed into Tony's Bada Bing on the show. The dancers used in the scenes also work at the Satin Doll, but don't get too exited: they wear bikinis when they're performing in the flesh.
