Broken Promise Travel: Beware the Promoter's Con

September 12, 2008 at 9:15 AM | by | Comments (0)

New Yorkers have a reputation as, overall, a street-smart bunch. Can't get anything over on 'em. But when it comes to celebrities they can be just as easy to hoodwink as the rest of us, as was proven this week when event planners Party at NYC got a full crowd to show up for a Ne-Yo concert that was never going to happen.

The R&B singer was in town hosting a party at megaclub Guest House, but that didn't stop these shady operators from claiming that he would also be at rival club Mansion--and selling $35-a-head tickets for his appearance. When the singer didn't show, they claimed he was stuck in traffic and then was forced to change his itinerary due to the hurricane. Shame on them!
