Visit All of San Diego's Classy Movie Sites Before 'Anchorman 2' Hits Theaters

Fans of the movie Anchorman already know San Diego is classy, but now they can also visit some of the city's famous cinematic landmarks before Ron Burgundy's next adventure hits theaters this December.

In the first Anchorman movie San Diego played a large role in the Channel 4 crew's antics, and hey were back in town just last week to film more scenes for the movie at SeaWorld. But Anchorman isn't the only movie that's helped make San Diego a mainstay on the big screen.

Everything You Need to Know About the San Diego Zoo's New Koala Exhibit

There are subtle ways and not-so-subtle ways to attract travelers. Some places - say, Mexico - struggle with image problems, and before they can pitch anything fun they have to rebrand themselves.. Other countries and organizations have it a lot easier. Zoos, for example, can do the equivalent of waving their arms in the air and shouting: "Hey, look over here! There are cute baby things over here!"

Our beloved San Diego Zoo knows what works, which is why they kicked off the summer travel season this morning by opening up their new Conrad Prebys Australian Outback exhibit to the public. The 3 acre exhibit is meant to model what you might see in Queensland. At the entrance is a cluster of 8 to 15-foot-tall totems depicting a koala, a platypus, a crocodile, a kangaroo, a Tasmanian devil, and a kookaburra. They call it the exhibit's "welcoming committee."

Is This the Most Popular Ride at Legoland California?

The other week we hit up Legoland California, namely to check out the just-opened Legoland Hotel, the first Legoland Hotel in the U.S. But with the hotel being adjacent to the theme park, we of course had to roam around for a few hours, marveling at all things Lego.

We'll have one of our handy theme park survival guides for you next week but we just thought we'd share this observation: Out of all the attractions, rides and displays at Legoland, the busiest one we encountered was The Big Shop.

Cheers to Winter with Beer Festivals in San Diego, Montreal, and Cincinnati

February doesn’t have too much going on, so it’s a great month to head somewhere warm to escape the winter weather. We realize that might not be in the cards, so that’s why we’re suggesting the old standby—drinking—to get you through this month. Here’s three beer festivals where you can toast to February:

San Diego Winter Beer Festival

It doesn’t get quite that chilly during the winter over in San Diego, but the city still has plans for their very own winter beer festival. This year’s events are scheduled to do their thing on Friday, February 8, so if you don’t have plans for this weekend—you do now. Brewers in attendance include Ballast Point, Black Market Brewing Company, and Mission Brewery.

Tickets will set you back $40 in advance, but it’s going to be around $10 more if you’re getting them at the door. Things run between 7pm and 10pm, and it all takes place over at the Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier. Live music from bands like Three Fiths Sober, 22 Kings, and YOVEE round out the event, so cheers to that.

How To Get Tickets To San Diego Comic-Con 2013

It's that time of year again, when geeks around the world prepare to battle it out for the limited number of San Diego Comic-Con Badges, which go on sale Saturday February 16, 2013 at 9:00 AM Pacific Time.

San Diego International Comic-Con 2013 will return to the San Diego Convention Center on July 18-21, 2013, with a preview night on July 17.

See San Diego's New Baby Panda in Public for the First Time

It's been a while since we've written about our beloved San Diego Zoo, and even longer since we've written about it as anything but an exercise in kind of entertaining but also sort of unseemly schadenfreude. Let us remedy that with background and a video of the zoo's new baby panda making his public debut.

The toddler's name is Xiao Liwu. He first met the public last Wednesday, which is when the video below was taken. The San Diego Zoo - which is one of only four American zoos with pandas - has now had six successful panda births. That makes the park the single most successful panda breeding facility outside of China.

Surviving a Cancelled Flight 101: Schadenfreude

Now that Hurricane Sandy is upon the East Coast and canceling flights in droves, we're dedicating today to using all our travel know-how (and some on-the-fly advice, as half the Jaunted team is stuck at airports as well) to help you ride out the storm despite delayed travel. Stay tuned and stay safe!

As Hurricane Sandy bears down on the East Coast, those of us who are away from Jaunted's various East Coast HQ's are sending other staff members pictures of sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns (in decreasing order). It's kind of entertaining.

While the East Coast Preps for Hurricane Sandy...

Yes, we'll shortly be going to our beloved San Diego Zoo. They have a new baby panda, new baby jaguars, and new monkeys, otters, and pigs. The video of the baby panda learning to walk is embedded below, hi-res photos of the new baby jaguars are here, and the San Diego Zoo blog has your post describing the rest of the babies.

In the meantime, this is what a fall morning looks like in San Diego from our hotel room. If you look at the road you'll see the Old Town Trolley. Their site brags that San Diego is "known as 'America's Finest City,'" which sounded very suspicious to us until we saw the weather and noticed the San Diego Zoo pictures they have pasted to the back of their trolley. Persuasive!

28 Photos and a Few Lessons from San Diego Comic-Con 2012

Sunday marked the close of another Comic-Con and, more importantly, the end of the endless waiting.

We were there and here's what we've learned about queuing up at the Con:

If you're hoping to get into a panel in Ballroom 20, allow at least an hour and a half for the wait in line. We missed a panel on Saturday after arriving with only 45 minutes to spare. And for events taking place in Hall H, you might want to get there the night before to secure your spot in 6,000-seat venue.

Ever wonder how you would fair in a zombie apocalypse? If you're in San Diego this week you can find out.

Petco Park is about to be transformed into The Walking Dead Escape, an obstacle course where "survivors" will have to outwit "zombies." The event, which was designed to coincide with San Diego Comic-Con, will take place tonight, July 12, 6pm-9pm, Friday, July 13, 1pm-9pm, and Saturday, July 14, 11am-6pm.
