Fans of The Hobbit had plenty to be thankful for at San Diego Comic-Con. Of course there was the Hall H panel that included the debut of four full scenes from the films, but fans also got a peek at some of the Hobbit-themed tourist attractions getting ready for the first film's debut later this year.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey doesn't hit theaters until December 14, but the Hobbiton Movie Set Tours are already gearing up for the influx of fans expected to visit Hobbiton this year. The site is just one of over 30 tourist experiences that showcase The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit locations across New Zealand.
Each year the folks at San Diego Comic-Com make a few tweaks to their system, some that benefit fans, and some that seem to make life at the Con even more difficult.
Here are a few changes (both good and bad) to be aware of before heading out to SDCC this week:

Comic purists have complained for years that San Diego International Comic-Con, taking place between July 12 -15 at the San Diego Film Festival, has become too commercial and way too crowded, but this year they will have an alternative.
Some of Comic-Con's original founders are celebrating the event's 40th Anniversary by organizing the first San Diego Comic Fest, which they describe as an "intimate scale, old school comic con."
The Comic Fest will go down October 19-21, 2012 at the San Diego Town & Country Resort and Convention Center. Organizers plan on having about 1000 attendees, compared to SDCC's 100,000 + fans.
If you've had it with the crowds and lines at San Diego Comic-Con, you can buy tickets to SDCF at http://www.sdcomicfest.org/.
