Rachel McAdams Recycles Her Vacations

March 9, 2009 at 8:44 AM | 2 Comments

Rachel McAdams took her new sweetheart, Josh Lucas, home to Canada for a romantic visit last week. Raised in St. Thomas, a suburb of Toronto, the pair ate dinner a deux and explored the streets where McAdams shot the forthcoming adaptation "The Time Traveler's Wife."

What's wrong with this picture, besides the way it makes fans of "The Notebook" homicidal? McAdams has been snapped all around Toronto before... with ex Ryan Gosling, with whom she got back together late last year only to once again break it off with him, reasons unknown. In fact, Rachel and Josh were spotted at Grace, the same restaurant where Ryan and Rachel had a steamy reunion last year.

Rachel, do you know what you are? You're a serial minibreaker. Named for the trip Hugh Grant and Bridget Jones go on in the instant classic "Bridget Jones' Diary," this is the trip she takes all her boyfriends on to the old familiar haunts of the homeland. The difference between us and McAdams is that when we recycle vacations among significant others -- or heck, college roommates, visiting relatives or foreign exchange students -- we don't have a team of paparazzi documenting our every move.

'Sherlock Holmes' Investigates Brooklyn

January 29, 2009 at 2:25 PM | 0 Comments

You may have heard some rumblings about drama on the set of "Sherlock Holmes" late last year. The film, starring Robert Downey Jr., Rachel McAdams, and Jude Law, has had its fair share of mishaps. First, it was announced the film’s director Guy Ritchie and wife Madonna were getting divorced. Then RDJ was injured while filming and to top it off a tanker truck exploded on set. The movie was filming throughout London for most of the fall and early winter with locations including Freemason's Hall, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and Brompton Cemetery.

"Sherlock Holmes" has finally made its way to this side of the pond. Today, they are filming at the Marcy Avenue Armory, 355 Marcy Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The armory is a “qualified film production facility”, meaning all state and city tax credits apply when the building is used. Since money talks, it is a popular location. “I Am Legend”, “28 Days Later”, and “Meet the Parents” were all filmed in the Marcy Avenue Armory whose history and architecture make it a perfect backdrop for a period piece like “Sherlock Holmes”. Hopefully, the movie’s “curse” hasn’t followed it’s cast and crew stateside but just in case we’d steer clear of Marcy Ave in Williamsburg for the next few weeks.

If you have any tips about where else movies or TV shows are filming, send them our way at tips@jaunted.com.

Rachel McAdams For America's Sweetheart (Even Though She's Canadian)

November 14, 2008 at 8:45 AM | 0 Comments

See that? She's pushing her own cart! Like a real person! No amount of magazine fluff pieces have the power like this photo to convince us Rachel McAdams is just a regular girl who occasionally gets discombobulated from hauling around things like her laptop sleeve.

Of course, regular girls don't get to trot off to London and co-star in the new Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey Jr., directed by Guy Ritchie, but that's beside the point.

Missed Connections in Toronto: The Admit It, You've Seen "The Notebook" Edition

OK, so the romantic weepie starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling was pushed on us when we were terribly ill and couldn't fight back. But even if you believe it's a load of Hollywood hooey, the reunion of the movie's It Couple can make you believe, unlike Gena Rowlands, that love will find you again.

And with the Toronto Film Festival just a few weeks away, don't you want to be seduced in the dark?

Mushy Reunion Travel: Gosling and McAdams, Together Again

August 21, 2008 at 9:15 AM | 0 Comments

Must be something in the northern breezes: 2006 power couple Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams have gotten back together in Toronto, not far enough from the prying eyes of the fans.

The couple, who broke up sometime in 2007, were spotted together a few weeks ago when Gosling DJ'ed a club in Los Angeles, but they went on a romantic date to the "modern farmhouse" restaurant Grace and left holding hands. Maybe now that they're between movies, they can rekindle the romance!

Chasing Vancouver: Ice Cube Finally Shows Up

Ice Cube is in town...but it's not quite the party it might once have been. Mostly he's been shooting scenes in tranquil Deer Lake Park, a thoroughly charming Vancouver suburb.

Pierce Brosnan is the big spender this week, going out to West Restaurant and Bar, where it's quite easy to drop hundreds on dinner.  However, Joe Fortes, the seafood place we mentioned before, seems to be the place to go, according to The Vancouverite: Jessica Alba and Edward James Olmos got their grub on there.  Ice Cube did go out to the Sutton Place Hotel, which previously hosted Kristin Davis and Matthew Perry. Copycat! Speaking of which, Jessica Alba and Rachel McAdams shots scenes at the Hollywood Theatre. With any luck, Rachel was there first and left a Miss Manners book as a gift for Jessica.

Chasing Vancouver: Jessica Alba Has No Manners

It's a battle of suger versus spice up in Vancouver right now, as various starlets swan about the city making friends and/or enemies along the way. Kristin Chenoweth took time out of her day to chat with fans, and managed to stay pleasant about it, whereas Jessica Alba can't even shop on the company dime without being rude to people. She just strides up and down Robson Street leaving a trail of murderous Canucks in her path. She might want to take a few pointers from Rachel McAdams, who's keeping busy at work - she might not get out much, but across the board people think she's lovely--she is also Canadian so that helps. She shot scenes with Pierce Brosnan at the Ovaltine Cafe, which gets a rather atmospheric write-up here that's probably a good indication of the tone of their movie.

The sets are moving farther and farther out in to the suburbs, but the downtime action refuses to leave the West End. Be sure to scroll up and down and all around on the map so you don't miss any of the travel tips!

Chasing Vancouver: Jean-Claude Loves Ginger 62

This week had actors jumping all over the great city of Vancouver, as they went on location in quirky outlying neighborhoods like Burnaby and Westminster Quay. Burnaby is a quaint little suburb with ducks in ponds and trees and parks - the kind of place where people do a lot of strolling. Westminster Quay, on the other hand, is an industrial area right on the river. It's gentrifying (of course), but people there have calloused hands and hearts of gold.

Seeing so many actors hard at work really highlighted the division between those who get work, and those who just don't. Jean-Claude Van Damme, we're looking at you. It seems as though he's determined to keep partying in Vancouver, probably taking advantage of the exchange rate. At least he's moved on from karaoke and now is hitting up bars favored by the "Sex and the City" ladies. A ClubZone user has a review of the bar, called Ginger 62:

The perfect sized venue for an intimate feel. Great decor with good lighting. The music consistently works the room and the hot crowd without all the little kiddies is a bonus. Mix it all up and the result is a great atmosphere.

On the other hand, Pierce Brosnan, Rachel McAdams, and Mark Wahlberg were all spotted hard at work on their movies. Rachel and Pierce have to withstand heavily starched period costumes. Mark has to run around drenched in blood. Which would you prefer?

Will somebody put Jean-Claude in a movie so he can have a reason for his West End antics. Just a cameo? Something, please.

Tell us what we need to know about Vancouver.

Chasing Vancouver: Pierce Brosnan Lurks in Gastown

Marriage, some sort of drama where an adulterous man plots his wife's death instead of putting her through the humiliation of a divorce, is currently filming in Vancouver and a Jaunted tipster let's us in on the current filming location:

They are currently (as in right this minute--ed. note--8.8.2006 8pm EST--) shooting a scene for the upcoming film Marriage at 225 Carrall St. in Gastown.  The shop has been transformed to a 1940's camera store. My friend Eric managed to snap these shots of Pierce Brosnan as he prepared for his scene.

This tipster has the photos to prove it after the break.

No word on whether or not Rachel McAdams will be playing the classically graying Brosnan's wife in the film, but if so, only Hollywood, or maybe in Gastown could that May-December romance be believable.

Keep the tips flowing Vancouver. If you alert us to when and where a movie is shooting in Vancouver we will post and map it for ya. Oh, and if you want to let us know about can't miss Vancouver spots as well, go for it.

Chasing Vancouver: Kristen Davis Leads Vancouver Book Brigade

The ladies were out and about over the weekend, shopping, wearing cute outfits, lunching with girlfriends; everything you'd expect from women with easy jobs and disposable income. Kristin Davis dragged Kristin Chenoweth out to a favorite Vancouver bookstore, while Rachel McAdams hit up one of the coolest neighborhoods for lunch (and no, she didn't take the bus). Once again, the action was all focused in and around the West End - the celebs are only taking baby steps outside their comfort zone. Where else should they go Vancouverites? Let us know. The Kristins bought books at Chapters, a favorite in Vancouver and Toronto. A Jaunted tipster reports:

Kristin Davis has been spotted at least a few times a week at Chapters (on Robson and Howe) buying books. On a few occasions earlier in July, she's come in with Kristin Chenoweth. I've seen her there myself but staff say that she's been there quite a bit.
Kristin Davis is quickly becoming the queen bee of spotted celebrities, between this and drinks at Elixir with Matthew Perry. Rachel McAdams, that wacky girl, ventured even further into Kitsilano, an artsy neighborhood known for good food and boutiques. She's a modern-day lady who lunches. With any luck, the girls will all get together and throw martinis in each others faces any day now.

Keep the tips flowing Vancouver. We want to know all, so send away.
