Why So Glum, Celebrity Chums?

We're in the doldrums of February right now and some days it's hard enough to leave the house, let alone travel somewhere. We know. We're feeling it. But things aren't going to be like this forever!

Look around you. Do you have an adorable dog? Did you just get back from a tropical vacation? Are you chowing down on some fast food or meeting your lover at the airport? Well, you've got that going for you. You could smile even while you know everyone in the world is watching you... but then we'll think you're crazy.

Did Paris Hilton Smuggle Weed Into Mexico?

We all know that Paris Hilton is not someone that you would want your daughter to model herself after. Unless you want your daughter to be famous for releasing a sex tape, going to jail for a DUI and possibly for being a drug smuggler.

Gawker has some scans of a new book called Six Degrees of Paris Hilton which was written by Mark Ebner and is largely about the illegal life of Paris Hilton and how she acts when she's not being followed by Access Hollywood or Us Weekly. A section of scandalous stories come from videotapes that were stolen from Paris' by some dude name Darnell Riley (who's now in jail for assaulting "Girls Gone Wild's" Joe Francis.) Paris is saying that she has no idea who this Riley dude is but he's still talking about what's on those tapes.

Smile, The Paparazzi Are Watching

Into every trip, a little rain must fall. There's nothing to do but grin and bare it, whether you are a surprisingly placid Paris Hilton in line at Sydney's Kingsford Smith International Airport or Neil Patrick Harris spreading good cheer at LAX. Sure, you could make a Kate Moss stankface when you get wanded at security, but what good will that do?

Cameron Diaz and "Grey's Anatomy"'s T.R. Knight were loaded down with bags, but Jessica Simpson and her pet football player Tony Romo looked lighter than air--even though his team, the one she supposedly jinxed, is out of the playoffs.

Miami Trumps Vegas In Star-powered Soirees

The annual tradition of the celeb-hosted New Year’s Eve party is upon us again, and this year Vegas, already hurting, is getting the some of the weakest wattage possible. You'd do much better to hit up Miami where Lindsay Lohan and girlfriend Samantha Ronson are hosting a party at Mansion. Kristin Cavallari (!), Kellan Lutz and Robert Iler will all be at Shore Club’s Skybar. Chloë Sevigny is heading to the Gansevoort Hotel in South Beach, where T.I. will perform. Diddy will be ringing in the new year at LIV nightclub inside the Fontainebleau Resort while Molly Sims handles the festivities inside Blade, also at Fontainebleau. And rounding out the South Beach celebrations, AnnaLynne McCord is hosting at B.E.D.

In NYC, Mario Lopez is hosting the party at Marquee, and in LA Travis Barker and DJ AM will be performing together at The Lot for the first time since they were injured in September's plane crash.

Meanwhile, the best Sin City has to offer is Denise Richards at Prive in the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino and The Kardashians at LAX. Vegas couldn’t even hold onto the Hilton sisters who are usually a NYE staple on the Strip. Instead, this year they're set to host the Bongo Virus Party in Sydney.

Shake It Like A Paparazzi Picture

There are plenty of things that get the "only in Hollywood" tag, but new LA milkshake shop Millions of Mikshakes really couldn't exist anywhere else.

Here's what happened: A London-born entrepreneur named Sheeraz Hasan moved to LA and lived out the modern American dream, getting rich off of celeb-stalking projects like Tinseltown TV and Hollywood.tv. But it turns out that all Hasan ever really wanted to do was make milkshakes.

So he opens up MoM, names his creamy creations for tabloid celebs--and then has said celebs (or sometimes, just celeb impersonators) come by to try out their namesakes, creating a media frenzy around the shop and making Hasan more millions.

Paris Hilton Makes New Year's Eve Plans

She'll be in 2009 before you are: Paris Hilton announced she'll be ringing in the New Year in Sydney, Australia, at an invite-only soiree for... a social-networking party. Wait, a Hilton has to use the Internet to find friends?

Rumor has it BongoVirus.com is also courting Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson to come party with them Down Under. If you don't get invited to the Bongo Virus New Year's Eve party to party with Hilton and boyfriend Benji Madden, you can always pay $5 to watch the party online. Nothing says "You've wasted your entire year" like streaming video on December 31!

Paris Hilton Campaigns for Your Attention

Keep clear! Paris Hilton invades London to promote her reality show. She's out to enslave our young!

Hilton was later overheard in Mayfair while out drinking and carousing at the Cuckoo Club before moving to the Kingly Club in Soho. All of this was, of course, captured by the MTV cameras as a sign of her angst in picking her new right-hand lady in "My New BFF."

Since Hilton still contends via Funny or Die that she's running for president, would that make her new BFF her running mate? Maybe she should go with her onscreen buddy in her new "campaign ad," former "West Wing" star Martin Sheen.

Candidates Travel: McCain Compares Obama to Britney, Paris

John McCain is using Barack Obama's vacation videos against him! Footage of the crowd waiting for Obama in Berlin where he gave a speech last week opens a new campaign ad, which alleges that Obama is "the biggest celebrity in the world" and... thus... unfit to be president?

We're not sure we follow, but no way would 200,000 people line up for Paris Hilton any more (if they ever would have).

Both candidates will be speaking to much smaller crowds today, as McCain visits Racine, Wisconsin and Obama stops in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Then McCain's off to Panama City, Florida for a benefit concert featuring John Rich of Big'n'Rich. Who's the celeb magnet now?

Virgin America Is Now Slingin' Champers

Virgin America just announced that it'll start selling Karma sparkling wine on flights, just in time to toast to the carrier's first birthday, coming up on August 8. The bevvies are $10 each.

Given how much she supposedly loves the airline, though, we're surprised Paris Hilton didn't get her canned Prosecco on board instead.

Speaking of Paris Hilton, what's up with her and Charles Ogilvie? The pair was spotted at Sundance and now they've been photographed together sporting AirAsia hats.

It's no secret that the Virgin Group owns a piece of the Asian low cost carrier, but could Paris be involved too? Or maybe she's more interested in AirAsia's cousin, Virgin America? After all, that airline has invited her on its inaugural WiFi flight scheduled for later this year.

We're trying to sort it all out, but in the meantime, we need to get one of those hats. So hot!

Don't Be Afraid To Look Dumb On The Road -- Just Like Paris

For someone who can afford to travel around the world, Paris Hilton remains relatively... unchanged by the trips she has taken. She's on tour with Good Charlotte (and current boyfriend Benji Madden) and got the chance to visit South Africa where they were performing. Later, someone asked Paris what her impressions were of the country, and she said, "South Africa and West Africa, they are both great countries."

On your next trip, don't wait to look dumb until you get home. Ask the stupid question right away so you can look enlightened when you come home, even though you're not. It's a lesson lost on Ms. Hilton, but not on us.
