Delta, Aegean Airlines and United Debut a Slew of New Routes

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Delta:
It’s the season for new routes that aren’t really new routes, as carriers are bringing planes out of the attic and sending them into the skies to restart seasonal options. This week Delta was the carrier dusting things off, as they just resumed their nonstop service between Shannon Airport over in Ireland and New York’s JFK International Airport.

Things began on May 11, and the plan is for things to head back and forth throughout the summer season. Boeing 757s will be doing the flying fun, and it’ll be a daily option. The flight might be a little less busy than some other transatlantic routes, so check it out if you have some frequent flyer miles to burn this summer.

· United:
One of the airport’s in Puerto Rico is getting a little bit busier, as United is getting ready to bring in some more of their planes. New nonstop flights will be heading between Chicago-O’Hare and Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico beginning on November 5.

Boeing 737-900s will be doing the heavy lifting on this route, and first class, economy plus, and economy will all be seating options. Now all you have to do is just find a beach, an umbrella drink, and get ready to relax.

Kind of a Big Deal: Onboard American Airlines' First Flight to Seoul, South Korea

If we were to tell you that American Airlines only just began flying to Seoul, you'd probably say "what, they weren't flying there already?!"

As crazy as it seems, it's the truth. Prior to May 9, any traveler wanting to fly American to Seoul would actually only get as far as Tokyo, where there'd be a connection to a Japan Airlines flight onward to Seoul-Incheon (ICN). Furthermore, this new route means some very nice competition for airlines to Korea and some fresh service enhancements from American (like the bibimbap!).

JetBlue, American, and Delta Add New Routes And New Cities

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· JetBlue:
Okay at this point it’s pretty much getting out of hand, as we can hardly go a week without talking about a new option from JetBlue. This week the carrier is celebrating the announcement of destination number 82, and it’s going to be Port-au-Prince in Haiti. One daily flight is an option to Toussaint Louverture International Airport from New York’s JFK Airport, and it’ll be two daily options back and forth from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Government paperwork is still pending, but it sounds like the flights should take to the skies on December 5 of this year.

· American Airlines:
We knew this one was in the planning stages, but yesterday was the official kickoff for the new American Airlines service between the United States and South Korea. To be specific, American Airlines will now be doing the nonstop thing between Dallas-Ft. Worth and Seoul each and everyday of the week all year long. It’s Boeing 777-200s that will do all the flying fun between the two counties. To celebrate American Airlines is even feeling pretty generous with their frequent flyer miles, as they’re offering up to 50,000 miles for those flying between the two cities on eligible fares between now and the middle of August.

New Route News Thanks to JetBlue, United, and Alaska Airlines

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· United:
It’s time to head down to Central America, as United is getting ready to boost and improve some service to and from the area. A couple weeks ago they started weekly service between Washington-Dulles International Airport and both Guatemala City, Guatemala, and San Jose, Costa Rica.

Things will run all year long, but the carrier didn’t stop there. They’re also doing the nonstop thing between Chicago-O'Hare and San Jose—again it’s in Costa Rica. Boeing 737-800s will be operating these flights, which means plenty of room in United Business, Economy Plus, and regular ol’ United Economy as well.

· Alaska Airlines:
More flights are coming to Portland—the one in Oregon—as Alaska Airlines is getting ready to send their planes and people to both Atlanta and Dallas-Ft. Worth. The new flights will start up on September 16, and it’ll be Boeing 737s doing the heavy lifting between the new city pairs.

These flights will operate throughout the year, and the plan is to do one one-stop flight in each direction every day of the week. If you’re intrigued by these new flights head over to Alaska Airlines’ website and start booking, as they’re offering up one-way flights for as little as $129.

JetBlue, Virgin America and Air France Lead This Week's New Route News

· JetBlue:
The government seals and stamps are still pending, but if all goes according to plan JetBlue will be adding some new options sooner than later. They’re looking to head from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport down to Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, Peru. Daily flights are scheduled to start on November 21, and if you act quickly you might be able to score a one-way seat for as low as $139. Adding Lima to their map will be destination number 81 for JetBlue, and it’s their fourth destination down in South America.

· LOT:
In case you haven’t heard the good news it’s finally time for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to head back into the skies. The battery problems have been reviewed and approved, and it’s finally time for the planes to do what they do best—fly. Plenty of airlines are working to shift their schedules to bring back the new planes, and one of them is LOT Polish Airlines. It sounds like June 5 is when they’ll bring back the 787 service between Chicago and Warsaw, and shortly after that they’ll start to link Poland with Toronto as well.

Hawaiian Airlines, Icelandair and American Airlines Lead This Week's New Route News

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Hawaiian Airlines:
It’ll be a little bit of time before things start flying back and forth, but Hawaiian Airlines is once again eager to get over to Asia. This time they’re planning to fly all the way over to China, as if things go according to plan the nonstop flights will run back and forth between Honolulu and Beijing.

Things should start in April of 2014, so you certainly have some time to get the funds in order if you’re looking to take advantage of this new route. This is international destination number 10 since November 2010 for Hawaiian Airlines, and this new flight should do its thing three times per week. Sounds like more tourism dollars will be arriving in the Aloha State, or it’s just a great stopover on the way back from China—Beijing, Waikiki, and then home.

· Lufthansa:
Here’s a little bit of an aircraft announcement, as it looks like Lufthansa and one of their A380s is on the move once again. Beginning on September 26, Lufthansa will be connecting Frankfurt with Shanghai five times per week, and it’ll all be done thanks to the Airbus A380.

The world’s biggest passenger aircraft will leave Germany around 5:20pm or so local time, and will arrive over in China at 9:55am—fancy. There’s room for 526 passengers across three different cabins, so we’re pretty sure there’s a seat that’s perfect for you. That’s not it when it comes to new airplane news either, as the latest Boeing bird—the 747-8—will now be doing its thing between Frankfurt and Los Angeles thanks to Lufthansa.

New Route News from Emirates, American and Frontier

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Emirates:
It’s time for a brand new flight out of New York-JFK, as if they don’t enough nonstop flights anyway. We’re looking forward to what Emirates has to offer, as they’re getting ready to start up their only transatlantic service. It’s going to be a nonstop thing between JFK and Milan beginning on October 1, and if you’re interested the tickets are already up for grabs.

It’ll be Boeing 777-300ERs doing the flying, and the flight will continue on towards Dubai if you’re interested. Milan is great so snag some tickets, but just be sure to build in some time for a trip to Lake Como as well.

· SAS:
The weather is warming up, and that means it’s time to start planning that European getaway. Denmark just got a little bit closer to the United States, as Scandinavian Airlines—SAS to their pals—started nonstop flights between San Francisco and Copenhagen.

It’s the first ever nonstop connecting the San Francisco Bay Area with Copenhagen, and the plan is for the flights to run six times each and every week. So grab a cup of coffee, cram yourself into an economy seat, and a wienerbrød will be waiting for you.

We gave our verdict on Virgin Atlantic’s new domestic UK service, Little Red, yesterday; now for the small print.

Little Red flies three routes: from London-Heathrow to Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Manchester, all intended as feeder destinations to get locals to Heathrow for Virgin Atlantic's long-haul flights. There are 26 flights a day in total—six each way on the Edinburgh route, three for Aberdeen and four for Manchester. All are perfectly timed to connect with the rest of VA's network.

There’s a launch sale on right now that means you only pay the taxes. Unfortunately, since this is the UK, that means you’re not getting a bargain; it ends up £98 for a return flight between London and Scotland, and £103 return from Manchester.

Remember a couple of years back when Richard Branson lost a bet with Air Asia’s CEO Tony Fernandes, which meant he was going to have to dress up as a female flight attendant? That may not have come to fruition—although, according to Fernandes, the time is nigh—but he went one step better worse further early this morning at Scotland's Edinburgh Airport.

Launching Little Red, Virgin Atlantic’s domestic UK service and a major step for the airline, Branson donned a kilt and then dressed down by flashing us.

Why You'll Find Fewer Cheapie Summer Flights to Hawaii

When we first heard about Allegiant Air and their plans to grab some Boeing 757s for flights over to Hawaii we were pretty darn excited. After all, who wouldn’t want to head off to paradise while saving a few bucks in the process? Of course things are pretty budget-oriented with Allegiant, so your discount fare is complete with a side of fees, charges, and other extras. However, if it’s between paying for a bag or two—and not going to Hawaii—we’d gladly pay for the bags.

Anyway, it looks like not long after the first flights took to the skies it’s already time to change things up. Allegiant Air is cancelling a whole bunch of flights to and from the islands, as they figure out what to do with their planes for the summer travel season.

JetBlue, AeroMexico and Korean Air Add New Routes and New Cities

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· JetBlue:
The rumors have been kicking around for quite some time, but it now sounds like things are becoming a reality. JetBlue is arriving in Worcester, Massachusetts, and if all goes according to plan it’ll be a more convenient option for those that just don’t want to take the ride all the way out towards Boston. This is destination number 80 for JetBlue, and from Worcester they’ll head down to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando—those are in Florida—beginning on November 7.

The flights will head back and forth once daily each and every day of the week, so start thinking about asking for some time off from work. Tickets can be snagged for as little as $60 each way through April 10, so get that credit card ready to go.

· Alaska Airlines:
Things must be going pretty well for Alaska Airlines, as they’re getting ready to add some more flights across the country. Their option between Seattle and Boston is a hit, so now it looks like they’re getting ready to boost this service even more. Beginning on June 9 the carrier is starting up a third nonstop flight between the two cities. Things will run on a seasonal basis through around August 23, and after that it’ll just drop back to a couple times per day. Of course this could be a great addition for business travelers, but we’re thinking about the options for a long weekend in New England or the Pacific Northwest.
