Football Travel Season Gets Going, Starting with New York City

August 28, 2012 at 3:29 PM | by | Comments (0)

We’re just about a week away from the start of the professional football season and, with or without the referees (they’re using replacement officials for now), the NFL is ready for this year’s first week of kickoffs. Of course the television networks are eager for you to tune in as well, but for true football fans there’s nothing like celebrating the season by being there in person.

For those who call the greater New York area home this won’t be too difficult to accomplish, as this year’s opening game is set to have the Dallas Cowboys face off against the New York Giants over at MetLife Stadium over in beautiful East Rutherford, New Jersey. The party is set to start about an hour before the game begins as the NFL attempts to throw their own tailgating party—minus the beverages in red cups. They’ve shelled out the cash to ensure everyone has a good time, and that includes bringing in Mariah Carey and No Doubt for a couple of live performances.

Training Camp Travel: Terrible Towels and the Pittsburgh Steelers

July 26, 2012 at 11:24 AM | by | Comments (0)

Are you ready for some football?! There’s still a few months before the first official kickoff, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t time for a sneak peek. Training camps are set to do their thing later this month, so if you’ve always wanted to check out the scrimmages and practices now’s the time to start planning:

As best we remember the Steelers had a pretty good season in 2011, but after finishing with 12 wins during the regular season they were bounced from the playoffs by Tim Tebow and the Broncos. The Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be a threat to win it all each and every year, so we’re kind of expecting much of the same come 2012.

Hines Ward is gone, but Ben Roethlisberger and Troy Polamalu are back and looking to help the team earn Super Bowl win number seven. There’s plenty of teams with an alternate plan for this season’s Steelers, so we’ll just have to wait and see how the season shakes out.

Training Camp Travel: Tony Romo and the Cowboys Plan a Road Trip

Training camps are set to do their thing later this month, so if you’ve always wanted to check out the scrimmages and practices now’s the time to start planning:

There hasn’t been too much offseason news surrounding this year’s Dallas Cowboys, but that doesn’t mean that training camp is going to be any less interesting. Each and every year seems to be the year for the team, so obviously expectations will be high—once again—for the 2012 season.

Tony Romo, Miles Austin, and DeMarcus Ware will all try their best to take the team to the next level. However, that starts with them making the playoffs—something they couldn’t get done last season.

Training Camp Travel: The Miami Dolphins Look for Fame with HBO's Hard Knocks

Are you ready for some football?! There’s still a few months before the first official kickoff, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t time for a sneak peek. Training camps are set to do their thing later this month, so if you’ve always wanted to check out the scrimmages and practices now’s the time to start planning:

There’s a new coach, a couple new quarterbacks, and a brand new playbook heading into training camp for this year’s Miami Dolphins. During the offseason the team was initially in the running for the Peyton Manning sweepstakes, but apparently Peyton just wasn’t interested in bringing his talents to South Beach.

Instead the Dolphins now have rookie Ryan Tannehilland his wife—who may or may not start in 2012. In the interim, the team will look to Matt Moore or David Garrard to lead them to the playoffs for the first time in a long time.

Training Camp Travel: Catch Your First Glimpse of Peyton Manning as a Bronco

Training camps are set to do their thing later this month, so if you’ve always wanted to check out the scrimmages and practices now’s the time to start planning:

If you weren’t paying attention during the offseason, there was a pretty big move by one future hall of fame quarterback. Due to a nagging injury Peyton Manning kind of didn’t play during the 2011 season and, as a result, he packed his bags and moved away from Indianapolis. It was certainly the story of the offseason, but after all was said and done he decided to join the Denver Broncos.

We’re thinking that the Broncos will do fine without fan favorite Tim Tebow, and it’s likely that with Manning at the helm they’ll be back in the playoffs once again this season.

Training Camp Travel: Who Dat Say Dey Gonna Beat Dem Saints

July 13, 2012 at 12:01 PM | by | Comments (0)

Training camps are set to do their thing later this month, so if you’ve always wanted to check out the scrimmages and practices now’s the time to start planning:

The New Orleans Saints have had a pretty rough offseason thanks to the bounty scandal and the resulting suspensions and related punishments. Even without their usual head coach we’re still thinking that the team has a decent shot in 2012, as long as they finally wrap up contract negotiations with quarterback Drew Brees.

Games against the Packers and Giants might prove to be a little difficult, but if they can overcome some of the offseason turmoil they should be headed far into the playoffs.

Training Camp Travel: Follow Eli Manning and The G-Men to Albany

The New York Giants are of course still a threat to win it all, after winning the big game earlier in 2012. Eli Manning and his crew have a long road ahead of them if they think that they can easily make it two in a row, but of course they’re probably up for the challenge.

There’s always a couple tricky games against the usual foes like the Eagles and the Cowboys, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Giants start strong and play well into 2013.

How to Get Last-Minute Tickets for the Packers and Saints' 'NFL Kickoff 2011'

August 31, 2011 at 9:27 AM | by | Comments (0)

After a long summer filled with uncertainty, it’s finally time to get ready for some football. NFL players and owners worked out their differences, and the 2011 season is ready to kickoff on September 8 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This year it’s the Super Bowl champions—the Packers—facing the Saints to get things started. The season’s first games run through the weekend, but most of the party is focused on that first Thursday night.

To celebrate the return of football the NFL is teaming up with EA Sports—makers of the Madden video game series—to welcome the season opener. The league’s 92nd season will begin with a little bit of music, as it was just announced that Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, and Maroon 5 will be on hand to get the party started. Things will all be taking place live outside of the Packers’ home at Lambeau Field, and things will be broadcast on NBC before the game starts just you can’t attend in person.

Training Camp Travel: Brady and The Patriots Return to New England

August 17, 2011 at 9:43 AM | by | Comments (0)

Are you ready for some football?! After a summer of bickering back and forth a deal was made to get the NFL back to business, and now we’re only a few weeks away from the first week of the season. We’re already planning our Sunday menus of overindulgence, but until then we can always start practicing our tailgating skills at training camp:

The New England Patriots have been a threat to win it all for quite some time, and this year looks to be the case as well. Tom Brady and his crew—including newly acquired Chad Ochocinco—have been practicing in pads and helmets for a few weeks now and are slowly and steadily getting ready for the 2011 season. There’s plenty of games to be played until the Super Bowl rolls around, including at least two games against those pesky New York Jets, so we’ll see how the season shakes out.

Training Camp Travel: Where to Watch the Packers Prep to Repeat as Champions

August 10, 2011 at 10:15 AM | by | Comments (0)

Are you ready for some football?! After a summer of bickering back and forth a deal was made to get the NFL back to business, and now we’re only a few weeks away from the first week of the season. We’re already planning our Sunday menus of overindulgence, but until then we can always start practicing our tailgating skills at training camp:

In case you missed it last year, the Green Bay Packers brought home the big prize after winning the Super Bowl. That means this year is all about trying their best to repeat as champions. We’re a little better at judging airlines than football teams, but even we think they’ve got a pretty good chance at two-in-a-row.

· When's Camp:
The Packers got busy as soon as the NFL Lockout was over, and things look to stay that way as practice runs through August 30. After that they’ll still be testing out new plays and working out all the kinks, but those practices are closed to the public. Most practices begin at 7pm, but if you’re looking for an excuse to cut out of work a little earlier there are a few that start right after lunch at 1pm. There’s usually something going on most days of the week, so check out the full schedule here and start planning your visit.

The New Meadowlands Stadium is the Star of the 2010 NFL Season

September 15, 2010 at 8:29 AM | by | Comments (0)

The first week of the NFL season is over, and we’re sure that some fans are already looking forward to the 2011 season after some lackluster opening performances. No matter how your team did there was one definite winner this past weekend, and that was the debut of the New Meadowlands Stadium. After spending over a billion dollars, the new football shrine in East Rutherford, NJ welcomed the New York Giants on Sunday and the Jets on Monday night.

Besides being gigantic, the new stadium has some significant technology upgrades compared to the old place, so maybe all the new fun stuff will make it a little easier to swallow those over-inflated ticket prices. Even from the comfort of our couch we could easily see the four huge 30-foot by-118 foot high definition televisions at each corner of the stadium. There’s also a massive ribbon scoreboard that circles the whole stadium—it’s close to half a mile in length.
