Get Wrapped Up in the 'Mummies of the World' in Los Angeles
It's so freakin' hot out that we're seeking cool relief in any air-conditioned building available. When you get bored of the lack of good summer movies, head to the California Science Center in Los Angeles to see "Mummies of the World"—which we previously called one of the must-see exhibits of the season.
"Mummies," the largest traveling exhibit of preserved remains ever assembled, recently made its world premiere at the CSC. More than 20 European museums banded together and lent their mummified pieces for the exhibit.

Valley of the Kings Yields More Mummies

An intact tomb has been located in Egypt's Valley of the Kings. This is the first one to be found since King Tut's, discovered in 1922 just a few feet from the current site. Inside are five wooden sarcophagi containing mummies, as well as 20 jars that are still sealed. Most likely the tomb dates from the 18th Dynasty, some 3,500-3,300 years ago.
