When it comes to in-flight entertainment we’ve seen more and more systems that require you to bring your device. Now there’s another carrier asking you to tote along your tablet, as Monarch Airlines and their MPlayer offers up all kinds of movies and other media straight to your iPad.
The MPlayer app is available in a few flavors from iOS to Android, and there’s both free content and those programs that you have to pay for. Just remember to download things before heading off to the airport, and we can only imagine that will help things go that much more smoothly.

It’s never too early to start thinking about ski season, and that’s especially the case with November just around the corner. Sure the good flakes might not start coating those slopes until a month or two from now, but we’re thinking that there will be plenty of the white fluffy stuff to get you outdoors. The only problem with skiing is that there’s a lot of equipment to lug and things get even more inconvenient when you need to fly to the mountain. Thankfully there’s one airline over in Europe that’ll serve as a lift for your equipment, and they’ll do it for free.
Monarch Airlines out of the United Kingdom is gearing up for ski season and offering to carry your stuff under the belly of the plane without an extra fee. You do need to book your tickets between now and the end of 2012, and you’ll end up saving yourself roughly $65. They’ve even got low rates to many popular destinations, as rates start around $55 each way inclusive of taxes to spots like Friedrichshafen and Innsbruck.
Airplanes aren’t exactly the greenest form of transportation, but until the Prius sprouts a pair of wings there’s really no other choice. There are obviously some airlines that do a little more for Mother Nature than others, and a recent list reveals those that are doing the most for our environment.
Atmosfair—a company all about carbon offsets—released their list of the best airlines this week at a travel show in Berlin. They used all kinds of criteria to shape their listing, like how passengers are crammed into the back and efficiency of airplane design. Taking the stop spot this year is Monarch—don’t feel bad we never heard of them either. The carrier is a charter airline that mostly does their thing in the United Kingdom.
