MYSTERIOUS ISLAND STATUES
If you are looking for an extremely remote vacation destination, we'd recommend one of the loneliest places on earth: Easter Island. It's pretty isolated, with the closest chunk of land, the Pitcairn Islands, almost 1,200 miles to the west. Besides the famous giant statues, visitors may enjoy surfing, hiking and scuba diving. You may not run into Sawyer and the rest of the gang, but you'll feel like you are lost on your own island.

AIR DISASTERS
Given the spate of recent commercial airline
incidents, it's no wonder that the Ajira
Airways 316 downing on the island seems
untimely. With US Airways 1549 managing an intact
ditching in the Hudson, and the Turkish Airways crash
just short of the runway at Schiphol in
Amsterdam, this plot line seems almost too close
for comfort.

CLIFF DIVING
This week, Jack wakes up on the island in a flash forward sequence. Alone in the
jungle, Jack hears Hurley yelling for help, and finds him treading water in a
lagoon forty feet below. He makes a spectacular leap from the top of the waterfall, and still manages to look awesome in his suit and tie. If you're headed to Hawaii, we recommend taking the plunge -- but we suggest a bathing suit if you do. Check out
BootsnAll Travel for an insightful guide to the best cliff-jumping locations in Maui.

SURVIVAL TRAINING COURSES
If there's one thing that would come in handy for the cast members of LOST, and anyone planning any remote vacationing, it's survival training courses. Whether you are stuck on an island or are adrift at sea, you'll want the best training out there. We suggest checking out Mountain Shepard Wilderness Survival School. The good news is, no previous wilderness experience is required. Or, if you'd like to focus on water survival (think Jin on a plank at sea), then enroll in Stark Survival's open water training program. In no time, you'll learn how to avoid sharks, keep hydrated and effectively flag down those creepy Others.

Last week, a lawyer landed on the doorstep requesting a blood sample from both Kate and Aaron. This was enough to spook Kate into a quick vacation somewhere – anywhere. We'd recommend checking with any number of sites for great last minute deals, many which offer information about traveling with babies and kids.

It has taken a week to recover from last week's mind-bending season premiere, but we're ready to hit the ground running. Actually, we wrote this recap and plotted the map already in the future, so we're enjoying a little pre-crastination.

Chasing 'Lost' Season 5 Starting Now

When we last left the castaways of LOST, the freighter had blown up, the helicopter crashed into the ocean and the island mysteriously disappeared in a blinding flash of light. This season, it's less about where and more about when.
Three years after the Oceanic 6 have left the island, Ben has been sent to round them all up and bring them back. He finds Jack standing over Locke's corpse at the Hoffs/Drawlar (anagram for Flash Forward) Funeral Parlor in LA. He tells Jack that everyone must return to the island or they're all doomed.

Post-TV Travel: Dominic Monaghan's Next Career
Still mourning the sacrifice of noble, adorable Charlie on "Lost"? Actor Dominic Monaghan is carrying on with his film career with, among other things, a role in the upcoming "Wolverine" spin-off movie, but he's also looking back at his "Lost" times with a new photography exhibit in LA.
Monaghan allegedly is also an occasional back-up singer and co-wrote three tracks on Viggo Mortensen's album. [Ed note: Who has this album? We want it!]
Fame chasers might rather spot J.J. Abrams and other cast mates in his photos than try to listen for the dulcet tones showcased in "We All Everybody." The exhibit opens tomorrow at the Hamilton-Selway Gallery in Hollywood.

Adventures of Link: Lost

So, yeah, have you heard? The new season of Lost starts tonight. Expect more dumbfounded-yet-angry stares from Jack, more running in tank tops from Kate, more philosophy-ish chatter from Locke and lighthearted (but heavyset) jokes from Hurley.
We sometimes find it hard to write about the show 'cause the only traveling they ever do is from rainforest to hill to beach to ridgeline back to rainforest. Seems like a waste of a perfectly good vacation in the South Pacific!
Fortunately--for us anyway--ABC has put together a parallel web show called Find 815, featuring the exploits of fictional IT technician Sam Thomas, who's searching for his girlfriend Sonya, an Oceanic Air flight attendant. Among his stops are Jakarta, Indonesia and Darwin, Australia. Now that's more like it.

Cassis Honolulu: Chef Mavro's New Joint Getting So-So Reviews Thus Far
The reviews are trickling out for Cassis, Chef George Mavrothalassitis' second restaurant in the islands. He located it in a cavernous downtown space that was decorate in a vulgar glitzy manner by a corporate restaurant company. Mavro has to turn tables to make this space work -- it's that big. He also, apparently, has to charge top dollar for what two reviewers for local publications found to sporadic culinary offerings.
Not to worry. Mavro is a tenacious restaurateur and he knows how to tweak things relentlessly until they work. All of that said, it will be hard to get the locals hyped up about lunch with entrees priced at $25 and above. NYC, SF, LA -- sure. Hawaii? Ugh. We hope he can pull it off and make this work, as we love his smaller, ritzier flagship and we love his cooking. Besides, the Lost cast has been feasting here, and they will need good food on the islands for at least three more years.

Lost Surf Couple More Adventurous Off Screen
Yes, we are still talking Lost, but barely.
The Lost season premiere was a total bummer, wasn't it? Seriously, this show is so close to going X-Files. We are not-so-anxiously awaiting JJ Abrams announcement of a feature length Lost movie. Despite our disappointment, we are going to give the show another shot tonight, we just have too much invested in it to give up on season three so soon, but a couple more weeks of Days of our Lives style episodes and we are done.
In the meantime, thankfully, Dominic Monaghan and Evangeline Lilly's real life Hawaiian beach adventures look much more interesting than their lives on the show. The duo hangs out at Mokuleia Beach Park, a twelve-acre beach park complete with restrooms, showers, camping sites, parking, and plenty of surfing. Thing is the surf here can be down right dangerous.
High surf generates dangerous water conditions, including powerful shorebreaks, longshore currents, rip currents, and backwashes sweeping across the foreshore. The high surf season normally occurs during the winter and spring months, beginning in October and ending in May. There are no lifeguards anywhere along the beach.
Seriously, these two should mix in a visit to the North Shore Surf Museum or something to ratchet down the danger factor. Then again, maybe the danger excites them. Ah, who are we kidding these photos are all posed right? JJ Abrams probably set up these shots himself to deflect from his obvious case of writers block.
