London Brings The Stars To Town This Week With Twilight And More

November 12, 2009 at 11:24 AM | by cmb | 0 Comments

Gwyneth Paltrow is getting back to her normal routine in her adopted hometown of London. The actress and her kids, Apple and Moses, spent the summer in Los Angeles so she could work on the sequel to Iron Man, but now they're all back in the UK and okay. Gwyn was spotted sipping on a cup of coffee yesterday after skipping her kids off to school.

The family's routine won't last too long though. Gwyneth just signed on for The Danish Girl, replacing Charlize Theron as Greta, a 1920s painter whose husband poses for her as a female model. Nicole Kidman has also joined the cast too—she'll be playing the husband.

'Twilight's' Kristen Stewart Demonstrates How Not To Handle A Passport

Where: Los Angeles International Airport [map], Los Angeles, CA, United States
October 20, 2009 at 11:13 AM | by JetSetCD | 2 Comments

With current hot starlets like Twilight's Kristen Stewart constantly flying out of LAX all the time, it's no wonder the paparazzi stake the place out. However, when Stewart flew back to Vancouver on Alaska Airlines to continue filming Eclipse after the weekend, she wasn't looking much like a starlet at all. In fact, she kinda resembled how we might look if we traveled after having been bailed out of jail after a fight with a bartender over the ratio of margarita mix and tequila. In other words: she don't look good.

On top of it, she is barely hanging onto that passport. Note to impressionable young international travelers: this is how not to handle your personal documents in public places. We're not asking you to wear a fanny pack or even get one of those hidden stash pocket things, but just don't be so careless with it. And with Kristen surrounded by grabby paparazzi, you'd think she'd be extra careful with her personal information. One slip while shuffling that heinous bag, and she's got no passport to return to filming in Canada and some guy has a new lot to add to the eBay.

Twilight Cast To Fend Off the Volturi in Italy

May 20, 2009 at 9:46 AM | by juliana | 0 Comments

While Robert Pattinson may have just landed in Cannes for the film festival, word is that the cast and crew of the new Twilight movie, New Moon, will leave their Vancouver set soon and head to Montepulciano, Italy to film the movie's crucial showdown with the Volterra vampire faction called, the Volturi.

In real life, Volterra does exist but the Montepulicano is being used instead as the stand-in. (Much like Vancouver is being used instead of Forks, Wash.) The vampire-free town (we think) is located in southern Tuscany, about an hour from Siena.

According to its website, the Twilight folk will roll into town the last week of May to start filming scenes. Considering Volterra/Montepulicano is where Edward Cullen bursts out into the sunlight to kill himself, we expect the movie will have no problem getting extras to film its "crowd scenes" in its Palazzo dei Priori which we are guessing will be filmed instead at the Palazzo Comunale. Also for Twilight geeks, Saint Marcus Day has already passed.

Road Trip To The First Twilight Fan Convention In Dallas This Summer

Where: 400 North Olive Street [map], Dallas, TX, United States
April 24, 2009 at 9:14 AM | by egw | 0 Comments

Want to show your neighbors and friends you bleed "Twilight" red? You could plan your vacation around Forks, Washington, the real city where Bella and Edward met for the first time. Or you could set your sights for Dallas, Texas, which this summer will host the first TwiCon July 30-August 2.

The brain child of a Meyerverse podcaster, a vlogger and two PR people, TwiCon will gather the devoted masses at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel for a "Twilight" screening, panels on "The Female Role in 'Twilight'" and "Writing To Get Published" (for your mothballed vampire novel), and a Masque Ball to show off your darkness-inspired finery. Stephenie Meyer has not been confirmed as a guest, but several supporting actors from last year's movie will be there including Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen), Billy Burke (Charlie Swan) and Mr. Jennie Garth Peter Facinelli (Dr. Carlisle Cullen).

Where To Run Away With Edward Cullen Forever

Where: 157151 Highway 101 [map], Forks, WA, United States

Who doesn't want to relive the magic of discovering the creepy boy in school is not only undead but also a 104-year-old virgin? "Twilight" fans now have an extra-special place to stay on their next pilgrimage to Forks.

Kalaloch Lodge in Forks just announced a one-night $149 "Bella package" for its log cabin accommodations. Vampire hunters get a map of Forks with clearly marked locations and "a special Twilight dessert," which we hope includes some kind of thick, delicious red sauce. But hurry up and read, because it's only available through May 31.

Meanwhile, on the Vancouver set of "New Moon," word got out that actor Michael Sheen ("Frost/Nixon," "The Queen") will play a vampire in the sequel. But this could be the last one shot in Canada if some members of the Washington legislature have their way: The state senate just passed a bill offering additional funding for TV and film crews who shoot there -- pretty clearly designed to recapture the "Twilight" dollars which are now flowing British Columbia's way. (The first movie was lensed in the southwestern city of Kalama.)

'Twilight's' Rival Vampires Set Up Shop In Vancouver

Where: 1419 Pendrell Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada, V6G 1S3
April 9, 2009 at 9:26 AM | by egw | 0 Comments

Last week when we wrote about fan furor in Vancouver around the shooting of vampire sequel "New Moon," we suggested another production could sneak in under the radar and get a lot of work done while local teens were distracted. And look, someone was listening! Specifically, the CW, which is moving in with its own vampire show.

The network behind Gossip Girl recently ordered a pilot called "The Vampire Diaries," based on a '90s YA series by L.J. Smith about a girl in a small town who falls in love with the mysterious new guy in town only to discover that he is a, say it, vampire. "Dawson's Creek" creator Kevin Williamson is executive producing and "LOST"'s Ian Somerhalder has been cast as one of the vampires. And guess who was just spotted hanging out in Vancouver this week? So the network isn't just jumping on the bandwagon, it's biting the scene too.

'Twilight' Sequel Forges Ahead Amidst Fan Frenzy

April 1, 2009 at 9:41 AM | by egw | 0 Comments

"Twilight" actor Taylor Lautner finds out he has fans at the Vancouver airport yesterday, despite disappointing millions when he accepted an award at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in place of super-sparkly costar Robert Pattinson.

Hey, you know what would be a very mean, yet awesome April Fool's Day joke? Posting on "Twilight" message boards today that the Canadian-shot sequel was having an open call for extras today. Not that fans are having a difficult time finding the set of "New Moon" in Hollywood North.

Visit the Real ‘Adventureland’ in Pittsburgh

March 27, 2009 at 9:11 AM | by cmb | 2 Comments

"Adventureland", written and directed by Greg Mottola, who also directed "Superbad", is a comedy about a recent college grad (Jesse Eisenberg) who gets a summer job at an amusement park working for two weirdo bosses (Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader. Then, just when his summer job seems hopeless, he falls for a co-worker ("Twilight’s" Kristen Stewart). "Adventureland" was filmed in and around Pittsburgh in the fall of 2007. Here’s your guide to adventure in Steel City.

What to Stay:
Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel, is located in the restored Fulton Building at 107 6th St and is, apparently, fit for a President. Though price may be a little high for Pittsburgh, about $199 a night, the Renaissance has a prime location near the city's theaters, Heinz Field, PNC Park, and Mellon Arena.

The Undead Must Get More Sleep Than This

December 3, 2008 at 9:50 AM | by egw | 0 Comments

Poor Kristen Stewart. The teen "Twilight" star looked positively exhausted after landing at Heathrow Airport yesterday for a promotional tour of her vampire phenomenon.

Well, she'll have plenty of time to sleep before Summit Entertainment starts filming the sequel to the $121 million surprise hit of 2008. Never underestimate the power of a teenage girl, that's what we always say.
