Just the thought of Fiji seems exotic, pretty far away, and difficult to get to. Exotic, yes. Far away, sure. Hard to get to, not at all. Flash Your Korean Air Boarding Pass for On-the-Ground Discounts

We’ve seen all kinds of advertisements and stuff scrolled across our boarding passes—even a little Sudoku game now and then. Now there’s an airline upping the ante on the boarding pass offerings, as they’re handing out their own version of coupons, discounts, and other deals. Sure it’s a chance for them to sell a little bit of advertising and making a couple bucks, but maybe you’ll actually benefit.

It’s Korean Air that’s getting into the boarding pass coupon-clipping game, as they’re releasing something called “Excellent Boarding Pass.” Like we said a minute ago, it’s all about providing benefits and discounts to stuff like restaurants, movies, banks, and kind of anything else where you can save a few dollars.

In the midst of the bustle of travel, it's all too easy to overlook the details. We're talking about special touches others have stressed over just so you can enjoy a unique experience, whether you know it or not. Every so often we'll highlight The Little Things like this, so now you will know.

The Little Thing: Korean Air's surprise, in-flight birthday and honeymoon cakes.

Remember Midwest Airlines? They delighted passengers for years by servinb complimentary warm cookies onboard. Then they were taken over by Frontier and, though Frontier tried to keep the cookie tradition alive, they eliminated the treats earlier this year.

It's hard out there for an airline, trying to stay in the black while still giving passengers a little extra something special. But then there's Korean Air, who still offer a free dessert that get all your seatmates talking: in-flight birthday and honeymoon cakes.

The modern airport is for so much more than simply leaving a flight. These days, they features everything from excellent eateries to spas, and even a library in Amsterdam's case. Well, the SkyTeam alliance is fully aware that their member airlines fly to some of the coolest airports in the world, and they wanted to show off a bit with a video series of famous names showing around their favorite hubs.

Airlines Actually Increase Checked Bag Limits, Thanks to the 'Piece System'

With all of the drama and outrage about certain airlines decreasing baggage limits, charging for extra baggage, and even (over)charging for carry-on baggage, here is a story that make you feel excited to fly. Yes, Virginia, there is happiness in flying.

Believe it or not, there are airlines that don't nickle and dime their passengers by charging to check a bag in the belly of the plane. And there are even airlines that have chosen to get even more liberal with how much they allow you to stuff in one suitcase. Or even up to three suitcases. We can't be more excited for these new rules.

Get Here, There and Everywhere on New Routes from JetBlue, United and More

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· JetBlue:
It’s always exciting when JetBlue has a new route to announce, and this week they’re getting us all hot and bothered with their newest option to and from Bogotá, Colombia. The new flights will start up on May 7 and will do their thing between Fort Lauderdale and Bogotá. Planes are scheduled to leave Florida around 8am, and the flights back to the nifty fifty will depart from Colombia around 11:30am. JetBlue is particular excited about this new route, so they’re even offering initial fares for as low as $99 each way. We can taste the blue chips already.

· Korean Air:
The big bird is on the move, as it sounds like Korean Air is sending one of their Airbus A380s all the way to Atlanta. The carrier is still ironing out all the different details, but the plane could be headed between Seoul and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as soon as January of 2013. The airport is still finalizing a couple bits and pieces of airport infrastructure to welcome the new plane, so hopefully the shiny new Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal will be one of the first to welcome the A380 to Atlanta.

Six US Airports for Stalking the Airbus A380

Korean Air and Lufthansa A380s snuggle up at JFK Terminal 1

Look, if you're an airport and you want to have the superjumbo Airbus A380 flying in and out, you can't just be like "hey, airlines, bring that big thang on over." Nope. Instead certain preparations must be made to accommodate an airliner of the A380's size and heft. To effectively manage each plane's 500+ passenger load, more jetways are needed, plus support vehicles to reach the upper deck. In some cases, airport runway indicator lights may need to be moved and the tarmac reinforced.

In other words, A380s can't just fly anywhere and, although the massive planes have been in the air since Singapore Airlines took delivery of the very first in 2007, not all that many airports around the world are treated to them. At least some of those are the United States...

The Three Airbus A380s to Look For at Los Angeles International Airport

It never fails. We'll be at an airport, chilling at a gate awaiting a flight boarding announcement, and every time an Airbus A380 rolls up nearby, other travelers around us will stand and head to the windows for a better look.

There's just something about the double-decker jet, maybe that it's easy to spot or maybe because it's simply so massive that makes people pay attention. Flyers who wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a 737 and a 777 will point and reverently whisper, "that's that new superjumbo. Cooool."

LAX may not have as many airlines arriving with A380s as JFK, but they're inching up there. On the other hand, LAX has only two gates best equipped to service the beasts, so you'll usually know where to find them at the large airport. That'd be gates 101 and 123. Of the 7 airlines currently flying A380s, 3 have routes to LAX. Here's who to look for:

Korean Air's Latest A380 Commercial Has Us Reaching For Our Credit Card

If you’ve been paying attention to the comings and goings of the A380, you’d know that Korean Air recently got their very first big birds. The carrier is already shuttling happy passengers back and forth between New York-JFK and Seoul-Incheon International Airport, and there are plans to send similar planes further and farther.

We’ve been lucky enough to experience some A380 fun before—thanks Lufthansa—but unfortunately the in-flight duty free shop and the three onboard bars of Korean Air's A380 elude us.

New Airline Route News Takes Us to Mexico, Florida and Beyond

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Frontier:
Every time we think of Frontier Airlines we’re reminded of the furry animals on the tails of the planes as well as their freshly baked cookies, so we’re always excited to hear about their new nonstop options. New seasonal options are heading between Denver and Little Rock beginning on November 17, and these flights will run six times per week. Des Moines is also getting some new options, as the city will be connected directly to Tampa and Orlando beginning in January—just in time for a trip out of the snow and into the sun.

· American Airlines:
We’ve been dreaming of nonstop jet service between Watertown, New York and Chicago-O’Hare—we kid—and now it’s finally arrived thanks to American Airlines. The American Eagle arm of the airline is offering the flights to and from the city that’s not too far from Lake Ontario or Canada beginning on November 17—perfect for the holiday rush. There’s two flights per day most days of the week, except on Saturdays and Sundays where there’s only one option. Definitely some good connection opportunities here for those flying into Chicago, as well for those looking to get some peace and quiet in upstate New York.

Korean Air's Very First Airbus A380 Makes Its Debut Flight from JFK to Seoul Today

Right now there is a giant Airbus A380 parked at New York-JFK Airport. So what, right? There are A380s at JFK all the time now...but this one is special. This A380 is big and blue and taking off for a direct flight to Seoul-Incheon International Airport at 5:20pm today. It's flight KE 82 (if you want to track it) and it's Korean Air's first Airbus A380 as well as the first A380 to make scheduled flights from the US to Asia.

It's a big deal for sure, not only for the airline and the airports, but also—hugely—for the passengers hopping onboard today and on future flights. Korean Air's first A380 is ridiculously spacious, with unique features we've been drooling over for some time. Onboard are 12 Kosmo First Class suites and 301 Economy Class seats on the first level, with 94 lie-flat sleepers spaced six feet apart on the upper level. Oh—and there's three bars on board: a hosted Celestial Bar, there are self-serve bars located in First Class and at the front of Prestige Class. Plus plus a duty-free shop.
