A Grueling Year Sends Katy Perry and Russell Brand Back to India for New Year's

After weeks apart, Russell Brand waited patiently outside LAX for Katy Perry to arrive home yesterday.

Katy, who has been on tour in the UK, looked out of place getting into the couple's car wearing a long puffy jacket in the warm Los Angeles weather. Alas, it seemed she was more interested in giving her husband a smooch hello than her wardrobe, as she leaned in for a kiss as Russell sat in the driver's seat, ready to go.

The couple will only be together for a few days before Katy is on the road again, this time headed to Connecticut for a November 15th gig. Though they have spent a lot of time apart this year, Russell has planned a romantic New Year's getaway with Katy to make up for lost time.

Apparently, the actor has booked a two-week stay in a private pool-suite at the Aman New Delhi Hotel India, not far from where they were married last year, and not a bad way to start the new year.

Katy Perry Holds Up Her Flight for Over an Hour in Sydney

If you thought commercial airlines were bad, try flying with Katy Perry. The pop singer kept her entourage and band waiting on the tarmac in Sydney for more than an hour yesterday before she finally showed up, still in her pajamas.

The crew was heading to Brisbane via private plane where Katy played a concert for a sold out crowd at the Queensland city's Entertainment Centre, after which she tweeted, "YO BRISBANE! You were HELLA fresh tahnight! See you in a week, trick!" During a gig in Sydney earlier this week, Perry admitted she didn't like one of Australia's most beloved snacks, Vegemite spread. She even revealed that she once threw up after eating it.

Russell Brand and Katy Perry Set Off For Their Double Honeymoon

It looks like one holiday isn’t enough for Russell Brand and Katy Perry – they may have married in India at the weekend, but they’re going to head even further afield for their honeymoon. And after that, they’re going to go even further.

Apparently, following the Rajasthan wedding, they’ve already set off for the Maldives, flying from Jaipur to Male earlier today.

But as if one uberlux beach holiday (plus an exotic wedding) isn’t enough, they’ll then head to Mauritius (where Russell took his mother in 2006).

Katy Perry Covers Up As She Arrives to India for Her Wedding to Russell Brand

Katy Perry tried to hide behind her coat yesterday as she, and fiance Russell Brand, wheeled their luggage through Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The couple seemed uncharacteristically dour as they arrived in India where their wedding will take place later this week. Cold feet perhaps?

Russell and Katy will be joined by 85 of their closest friends and family for a week long celebration, at the luxurious Rambagh Palace in Jaipur, the same venue where the couple was engaged earlier this year.

If there's a world event that guarantees women will be wearing bust-enhancing, colorful dresses, you can bet that the current pop culture cuties will make an appearance for a prime photo-op. This is what's happening now with Germany's Oktoberfest. A couple weeks ago, the 200th Oktoberfest opened in Munich, and Kim Kardashian made sure to stop by with her mom for custom dirndl dresses and braided pigtails. Now it's Katy Perry's turn to be dirndl-ed up, but she's taken it beyond the fairgrounds and onto television.

Marina Bay Sands Casino

Singapore is angling to attract more and more mainstream tourists, what with the new Universal Studios Singapore and an airport that boasts a sick-looking four-story slide. Heck, we found out last night that even this season's Top Chef cheftestants are traveling to the Southeastern Asian country for the show's finale. But who knew that Singapore had a booming casino scene?

The casinos are getting credit for helping the country surpass the 1 million tourists mark in one month for the first time in July, according to AFP. And tourism officials hope to see up to 12.5 million people visit Singapore this year.

While her soon-to-be husband, Russell Brand, was hard at work in New York City on his next movie, a remake of the 1981 classic Arthur, Katy Perry enjoyed some fun in the sun with her entourage earlier this week.

Katy, who performed at Nassau's Atlantis Resort Grand Ballroom on Saturday night, decided to spend a few extra days at the Bahamas resort, along with her brother David Hudson, her assistant Suzanne Sansone and stylist Logan Horne.

Rihanna and Katy Perry Keeping 'Girlfriend Getaways' Alive

No boys allowed! Rihanna had singer Katy Perry over to her house in Barbados, where they went out on a boat and worked on their tans.

Another celebrity currently stimulating the travel economy this week but doing the opposite of a girlfriend getaway is Salma Hayek. She's rumored to be getting married (again, she tied the knot with French businessmen François-Henri Pinault in February) this weekend in Venice, Italy -- and by "rumored" we mean Antonio Banderas blurted it out in the press conferences. He's so not getting invited to the next wedding.

So what we want to know is, what makes a great girlfriend getaway? Or, in a larger, gender-neutral sense, what do you do with your friends when you travel? Do you have a first-night-out ritual? A secret induction ceremony? (Well, it won't be secret now!)

Stars' European Vacations Say No To Naycations

If 2009 is the year of the naycation, the great cities of Europe will be fighting even harder for tourist dollars. But their celebrity support is hardly in doubt: Stars like Lady Gaga, Super World Travelers Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and Katy Perry used the Continent as a playground this weekend.

Gaga went out to a London club with her entourage, while Perry's had to hold her hand after she was mistakenly called for an award she didn't win in Cannes at the NRJ Awards.

The world's most famous couple went out on a romantic dinner -- with Pitt's mustache -- in Berlin, where they lived for a while this fall.

Who Wore The Egg Costume Best?

Eggstrordinary: How did Gwen Stefani and Katy Perry end up choosing the same, non-topical costume this Halloween? Stefani donned hers for a Halloween party in West Hollywood with husband Gavin Rossdale as a slice of bacon, while Perry paired hers with a halo (?) to go onstage at a show in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Even though they ended up with the same idea, we have to give the ladies credit for not picking a tired cliche. Here are five people you should NOT go as for Halloween:

Baldy Britney Spears: Sure, it was scary, but MTV is over it, and you should be too.

Michael Phelps: Hypothermia: Not funny.

The Joker: Displays an admirable commitment to face makeup, but if we have to hear people trying to do the raspy voice all night we're going to reverse course and go as the scary puppet from SAW.

Amy Winehouse: Neither scary, nor funny, just sad. (Sorry, Cindy Crawford.)

Sarah Palin: Much, much too scary.

Award Show Travel: Katy Perry Is Cakesexual

Singer Katy Perry attacks a pastry the way she assaulted our ears last summer with her number-one hit at the Premios MTV Latinoamérica last Thursday night.

Perry didn't win any trophies at the seventh annual edition of these video music awards, but she did celebrate the end of her set by jumping into the giant cake. It was probably a rehearsal for the MTV Europe Music Awards in Liverpool, which she's hosting. Yes, even in Liverpool girls kiss girls and like it.

Big winners of the night were Medillin, Colombia singer Juanes (4 awards), German pop outfit Tokio Hotel (3 awards including best ringtone) and Rihanna, who was garlanded best female fashionista.

Stylish Travel: A Fashion Week Too Far?

No tans please: Lily Allen, Dita Von Teese and Katy Perry represent the palest of the pale in the front row of the Christian Dior show at Paris Fashion Week.

A recent New York Times story quipped "the sun never sets on the runway" with the proliferation of Fashion Weeks worldwide. Paris is even safer than New York, considering many of the classic ateliers like Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel are still open there. But "Islands of the World Fashion Week" in the Bahamas sounds like a fashion editor's excuse to take a vacation.
