Somebody Get Blue Ivy a Passport Already

January 9, 2012 at 4:24 PM | by | Comments (0)

C'mon—you knew this was going to happen. Beyonce and Jay-Z made a baby and this baby—Blue Ivy (like a superhero or something)—is about to become the world's hottest celebrity travelers. Why do we say this? Well, simply because traveling celebrity kids are a thing and, not only that, but the tabloids love a traveling A-list family, as evidenced by years and years of a barrage of articles on where the Jolie-Pitt clan are jetting off to.

Even better—this is going to be a cute little baby who'll turn into a cute little girl, who'll turn into a sassy teenager who knows more about St. Barts and private yachts and Gulfstream jets than most billionaires, because she's going to be raised amidst the best of all that, with parents who each must jet set in luxury as part of their jobs. Wow. Have we ever been more jealous of a helpless infant than we are right now?

And before we could even get this meager little story out, the frickin' LA Times had already coughed up a list of places that baby Blue Ivy needs to visit, such as the famous Blue Hole of Belize. We rest our case.

Jay-Z Comes Up with a Blueprint to Open Airport Sports Bars

December 2, 2010 at 8:32 AM | by | Comments (2)

Travelers have 99 problems, but watching the game at the airport ain't one. At least, that's what Jay-Z hopes to accomplish by opening a number of U.S. airport sport bars. The hip-hop impresario/fashion designer/Beyonce husband/new author announced that he'll bring incarnations of his upscale 40/40 Clubs—which already reside in NYC, Atlantic City and Las Vegas—to several as-yet-unnamed airports. Looks like Chili's is gonna have some competition.

It seems risky, given reports of some financial problems a couple of the clubs have had. But Hova isn't deterred; in fact, in 2011, more 40/40 Clubs will open in non-airport locations, including Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, Tokyo and Macau. And the NYC bar will closed in 2011 from April to July for an overhaul.

Beyonce and Jay-Z Spend August the Celebrity Way: On a $377,000 Per Week Yacht

August 25, 2010 at 12:09 PM | by | Comments (0)

If you're a multi-millionaire celebrity with a significant other of the same description, what do you do for vacation during the hot days of late August? Oh, you rent a yacht and go to Saint Tropez on France's Cote d'Azur, of course. Onboard the 177-foot yacht Altitude this week, you'll find Beyonce and Jay-Z soaking up the sun, hopping from Portofino to Cannes to Saint Tropez all to the tune of $377,000 per week.

Beyonce and Jay-Z are getting their money's worth, too. The Altitude boasts six cabins, a gym, and a Jacuzzi. They aren't the only celebs out running around on a rented yacht off the Riviera either; fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana (Dolce & Gabbana) have been motoring their yacht from Sardinia to Portofino and even down to the Aeolian Islands off Sicily so far this summer.

Given a choice, we'd party along with D&G, since their yachting adventure lasts practically the whole season. Who would you rather float around with?

Who Made It To Art Basel This Year?

December 8, 2008 at 8:45 AM | by | Comment (1)

Pamela Anderson arrives at Art Basel in Miami Beach with photographer friend David LaChapelle in a T-shirt and no pants. LaChapelle shot Anderson for a film featured in the Elton John "Red Piano" concerts in Las Vegas; this year in Art Basel he presented an exhibit called "Jesus Is My Homeboy."

Cityfile dismissed the celebrity guests at Art Basel as "decoration," bearing no significance to how the festival's really doing at what it's supposed to do--sell art. If so, stars were still willing to show up and look good for the cameras. Beyonce and Jay-Z took in a few galleries--furnishing one of their places together, perhaps? And Kirsten Dunst took a bunch of girlfriends to South Beach with her, before ditching them at a party to hit on Tom Brady. We had no idea he was into art!

Even The New York Times got in on the act by following their version of a tabloid star to the show, musician Malcolm McLaren, who presented his own video project to an adoring crowd. Another star presenter who made sure to be seen: Marilyn Manson, who showed up his bloody paintings and his new post-Evan Rachel Wood girlfriend.

UN Travel: Ban Ki-Moon Breaks It Down

October 8, 2008 at 11:30 AM | by | Comments (0)

To honor rapper Jay-Z's humanitarian work with helping stymie the world's water crisis, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon busted out a rap at the UN Global Leadership Awards celebration this week in New York. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas also showed up to take in the awkward-but-endearing performance.

The quality on this clip is lousy, but its worth a look if only to see the world's diplomatic leader attempt to kick it.

Sort of reminds us of the cringe-worthy moments when our parents attempted to display their hipness with teenage lingo when delivering the obligatory "Don't do drugs!" speech in high school. Check it:

Concert Travel: Hollywood Palladium Turns Up The Volume

Where: 6215 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA, 90028
August 27, 2008 at 8:45 AM | by | Comments (0)

L.A. concertgoers, rejoice! The Hollywood Palladium, once host to both the Rat Pack and the Grammy Awards, will reopen this fall with a gala concert by the 2008 equivalent of Frank Sinatra, Jay-Z.

The Palladium has been closed for repairs since being purchased by Live Nation in April 2007. Martin Luther King Jr. once spoke at the Palladium despite a bomb threat and artists from The Rolling Stones to the Red Hot Chili Peppers have performed there. But for us, it'll always be known as the backdrop to this scene from "Almost Famous" starring Kate Hudson:

Tickets for the Jay-Z show go on sale September 5.

Celeb Music Travel: Who Got Dirty at Glastonbury?

June 30, 2008 at 10:45 AM | by | Comments (0)

The Glastonbury Music Festival is perhaps better known for its epic mess than its gritty performances. But this year's fest was remarkably dry, bringing the stars out in record numbers. There was rain, don't doubt it, just less than usual, so Kate Moss' boots looked more like a fashion statement than a meteorological necessity.

Concert Travel: We Found the VIPs in Coldplay's Fan Club

Where: 211 Stockwell Rd., London, United Kingdom
June 19, 2008 at 9:00 AM | by | Comments (0)

Among the cheering crowd at Coldplay's live gig at London's Brixton Academy (a live music venue, not a school) we saw two people who, if they aren't best friends already, should be: Jay-Z and Ricky Gervais. Both stood off to the side and watched the band run through new tracks from their latest album "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends."

Longtime Coldplay or Carter/Gervais fans will know that both rapper and comedian have worked with Chris Martin, Jay on the 2006 song "Beach Chair" and Gervais on his TV show "Extras." But can Ricky rap? We wish we knew.

Didn't get into the exclusive gig? You can visit the BBC Television Studios in London six days a week for £9.50 a ticket (about $18), which gets you a guided tour and a peek into the studios. Pool party not included.

Memorial Day Celeb Travel: My, My, Monaco!

Where: Monaco
May 27, 2008 at 2:45 PM | by | Comment (1)

While Americans braved $4-plus-per-gallon prices at the pump--or watched people spend tons of gas money at the Indy 500--celebs flocked to the tiny principality of Monaco for a weekend away. Whether they were attending the Formula 1 race, like Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls, or otherwise occupied, stars alone or in pairs made the best of the holiday.

Kate Hudson relaxed in Monte Carlo with her new fling, racer Lance Armstrong, while newlyweds Jay-Z and Beyonce looked like they weren't having such a good time outside of their hotel. (Maybe they couldn't get tickets to Indiana Jones 4!)

Monaco is shaping up to be a very popular destination for celebs in 2008. In May, Bono celebrated his 48th birthday there, and Brangelina took the kids for a family vacation. Another advantage to this tiny principality? It's close enough to Cannes that stars can run over (in private helicopters, natch!) and catch a film or two.

Potential Honeymoon Travel: Hova and B on the Road, Newly Wed?

April 8, 2008 at 10:34 AM | by | Comment (1)

Hey, did you hear that hip-hop royalty Jay-Z and Beyonce got married in New York this weekend? While the pair has yet to release an official statement about the possibly of their legal union, a marriage certificate was issued in the state of New York, and crowds of black Hummer limos swarmed lower Manhattan on Friday--allegedly to take the rapper and the R&B diva to the courthouse and on to a party at his TriBeCa loft.

So where did they go for the honeymoon? How about romantic... Greensboro?! If the chart-topping power couple tied the knot Friday, they sure picked an odd time to do it, with three tour dates left on Jay's "Heart of the City" tour with Mary J. Blige.

The pair dispatched with two of those this weekend in North Carolina (where Blige wished them vague congratulations) and Washington DC. Jay and Beyonce will have some time to take a real honeymoon before the April 16 show at the Hollywood Bowl.

Kanye's Favorite Thing to Do In Vegas

January 4, 2008 at 9:00 AM | by | Comments (2)

Hopping from expensive club to expensive club? Buying out the Louis Vuitton store? Lying down in the sun at the Rehab pool party surrounded by ladies? Kanye West has done all that, but recently on his blog he revealed one of his favorite things to do in Vegas: Play Connect Four!

Apparently Kanye and Beyonce were in Vegas for the opening of Jay-Z's new 40/40 Club, and while the club was fine, they got into several heated games of Connect Four. She beat him nine times straight. You go, girl.

B and Jay Split Work and Play

November 1, 2007 at 8:45 AM | by | Comments (0)

They're still so crazy right now! As earlier reported, Jay-Z is opening a Vegas outlet of his popular New York club 40/40, and to promote its opening he and long-time girlfriend Beyonce will perform a duet there on eve of New Year's Eve.

That's right. Unlike stars like Paris Hilton, who selflessly accept large amounts of cash to "host" New Year's Eve parties at megaclubs (hers is at LAX in Vegas), Jay-Z and Beyonce will work on December 30 and then spend New Year's Eve lolling in a bathtub of Cristal Dom Perignon.

We know it's kind of early to ask, but... what are you doin' on New Year's Eve?
