Iowa's 'Field Of Dreams' Rounds the Bases to Become 'All-Star Ballpark Heaven'
If you build it, they will come. That famous line from the 1989 movie Field of Dreams proved to be true for the couple who owns the real-life location used in the movie, but now that they are moving on, the site is too. The eastern Iowa cornfields made famous by the Kevin Costner film have been sold to a company that plans to build a new sports complex on the property.
The farm's owners Don and Becky Lansing announced they have accepted an offer from Mike and Denise Stillman and their company, Go the Distance Baseball LLC, which will develop the site near Dyersville into a baseball and softball complex.

Can You Survive 8 Hours on a Bus? How About If It's Only $1?
Sitting in one place for 8 hours, traveling from city to citywhen you think of that, you're probably imagining a transcontinental flight, right? Well of course that can also be by train or bus, and increasingly it's the latter as MegaBus continues to go crazy in expanding its route network. The newest city to be tapped by the big blue bus is Omaha, Nebraska, an 8-hour and 40-minute journey from downtown Chicago, where Megabus' US operations regularly tie up rush-hour traffic.
As usual when Megabus announces new routes, they've put a whole slew of seats on sale for $1.00. Right now, that's 1,000 seats, and we double-checked some random August travel dates and the $1 fares are truly plentiful. Enter promo code OMA1K to knock the fares down to FREE. The only catch is that travel needs to happen before September 17, although Megabus' famous seats-for-$1 deal extends across all routes for the first few seats booked on each bus.
What we're trying to say is, that if you have to travel this new route (or any route) later this fall and still want the sweet $1 seat, you've got to get at it early, very early, as pricing goes up as the bus fills and as the departure date nears. Now the difficult decision: are you willing to endure a 9-hour bus trip if it costs less than even a Dunkin Donuts coffee?

One of Iowa's Airports Proudly Sucks
We all know that flying sometimes sucks. For whatever reason, flights get delayed, things cost more than expected, and who knows what sort of weird company you’ll end up sitting next to. There are some airports and airlines that are better that most, but there’s one place where you are guaranteed a flying experience that sucks.
The place is Sioux Gateway Airport, but it’s not because the airport in Iowa is especially bad, it’s just because its IATA airport code is SUX. It may seem a little cheesy, but when the airport gods hand you lemons—and what could be worse than SUX—you make airport lemonade.

Get Going in a Winnebago with a Visit to Their Iowa RV Factory
As you jam and shove those last minute essentials into your car before taking off and diving deep into the middle of traffic on the turnpike, you might realize that a little more room could make a summer road trip more pleasant. An RV is always an option, as long as you can get the thoughts of cliché family vacations out of your head. Sure they aren’t for everyone, but if you want to see what they’re all about before whipping out the checkbook you can always take a tour of the Winnebago factory in Iowa.
Winnebago Industries will be happy to show you around their facilities, and best of all they’ll give you the factory tour for free. You’ll see employees putting final touches on different aspects of the motor homes, as well as robots doing their thing to make sure all those welds are textbook perfect. Be on the lookout for upside down RVs outside of the factory, as the Winnebago workers like to flip over their final products to check for structural integrity.

This Weekend In The World: Corn, Theatre, And The King Of Air & Water Shows
· Chicago
This is the summer weekend to be in Chicago, as the beloved Air & Water Show zooms into town on both Saturday and Sunday, bringing acts like aerial stunt teams, the Air Force Thunderbirds, paratroopers, the Red Bull Mig, and Apache and Blackhawk helicopters and more. Best spot for the action is on North Avenue Beach, picture above, as obviously the action happens directly above it. There will also be Coast Guard demonstrations and more on the water, so those of your with boats on Lake Michigan should pack up your cooler and ship on out.

There's Nothing Corny About Iowa's 'Shuckfest 2009'
When you think of Iowa, one of the first things that comes to mind has got to be corn. The state has loads of it, and there's no better way to celebrate all things corn than hanging out at the West Point Sweet Corn Festival. Where else can you take a free ear of fresh corn and gnaw on it during the coronation of the Corn Festival Queen?
The highlight of this week’s events kicks off tomorrow, as volunteers get to business to prepare for the festival. At Shuckfest 2009, community members will happily shuck bushels and bushels of corn. In 2003 they prepared over 17 tons of corn; let’s hope there’s an equal amount of butter to slather on top.
